Have you tried Rachael Ray cat food? We want to hear about your experience! Read our complete written review of the brand here: allaboutcats.com/rachael-ray-cat-food-review
It made my little one sick. She threw up about 4 times in 1 day. Soon as i switched back to other food, she was fine. It was very alarming. I didn’t know what to do with the bag afterwards. It’s now been a month since the incident. Guess I’ll chuck it
* i did slowly introduce the Rach kibble slowly throughout the week. It was on the 1st day of her having nothing but new kibble that she got sick.
I just switched to the indoor complete recently thinking it was a great cheaper option, but my cats have had loose stool ever since! Not sure what I should do next, maybe a sensitive stomach formula from a different brand! 😥
I suspect that the wet food formula is high in sodium coz my baby started to drink lots of water after the switch. I stopped feeding him it :(
What are you thoughts on the newer Rachel Ray formula: Rachael Ray Nutrish Inner Health Turkey with Chickpeas & Salmon Recipe Dry Cat Food, 14-lb bag
I tried this food for my cats and I kid you not 2 of my 3 cats started bleeding from their rectum. The vet told me to immediately stop feeding it to them and to put them back on their old food. Within 1 day they were fine. This is not a coincidence. This food made my cats very sick and they very well could have bled to death had I not been very observant. Sorry I don't remember the flavor I used but it was most likely chicken of some variety since my girl will only eat chicken and my boys will eat just about anything (I think they missed the memo about cats being finicky). The food I went back to is Blue Buffalo Blue weight control in the chicken flavor. They get their kibble mixed with a dab of friskies indoor chunky wet food for extra moisture. I wouldn't give RR food a C grade as far as I'm concerned they get a F-. For the love of God and if you care at all about your fur babies PLEASE PLEASE don't feed it to your babies. The vet bill alone for my 2 boys was $400.
Anyone impressed by the kitty's ability and willingness to try all the different kinds of food and litter?? Impressive!!
Mine is the same! As long as it’s food he will scarf it down😂 never has been an outside cat so I don’t know why he eats like he was once feral lol
would love a video on the best dry and wet foods you can get at your local stores! Such as petco, petsmart, target, walmart, etc.
Crap will kill the pet leaving you traumatized
I just started my cat on Rachael Ray Nutrish chicken, trout and salmon dry food. My cat likes it and the ingredients list on this one is more heavy on protein ingredients. But after this review I’ll definitely switch him to a better dry food once he finishes the bag :)
Thank you for these kinds of videos, I now know the best products for my cats!
Happy to help!
All your videos are so informative and helpful! Thank you!!
Thank you for your videos! They help narrow down the many choices for being a cat parent
Just found your channel yesterday whilst looking for a good litter box to recommend to my boyfriend who is adopting a shelter cat :) I also have 2 fur babies and I find your reviews very helpful, especially as a pet parent on a budget. Keep up the good work!
This video is perfect for when customer ask me about what cat foods are good for their cats. Thank you for all the info! I would love to see you review Acana/ Orijen!
Thank you for commenting, Celeste. It's an honor to have you here. We plan to review Acana and Orijen in the near future.
These videos are so addictive for some reason? 😂😂
I was waiting for this review!! Thanks for your infoo. Your videos are helping me a lot 😊
Great to hear, Kevin! Thanks for being here. :)
I’ve been using this recently! Thank you for the review!
I was given a young cat that had only been eating meow mix, got this food as I switch slowly to wet food since he's underweight and it is the best cat food I could find in my small town.
Thanks for the info I was considering getting this brand of food but after seeing this review no chance in hell
I am throwing away the bag I bought, don't even want the strays to eat it.
@@gregstuart5903 yeah, the strays and the ferals will become fat cats that can't even defend themselves. Their lives would also be shortened.
I see now why it wasn’t included in the other video! Thank you for the info!
Thank you Malory for your show. I really appreciate the information.
Thank you, Lana. Glad you're here. :)
Thanks for the in depth information!
I once tried the Rachael Ray wet cat food and my cat hated it. She didn't touch it at all. Now I'm glad she trusted her instinct.
Another great review
Thanks for all the information on cat foods. It's very helpful. 😸
I was very hesitant to watch this. My cats stopped wanting to eat this years ago. That sent up a red flag for me... meaning the ingredients changed after it took off. I will never feed this crap to an animal...I don't care for Rachel Ray as a celeb nor what she endorses. I'm glad to see your honest and forthright review .. spot on!
I used to work for a certain petstore chain... and when I was stocking or doing inventory -- this was the one food I absolutely hated and would never ever recommend. While stocking the food the bags would be covered in oils that would seep through the bag. This went for dog and cat food. It was disgusting. I would not give this to any animal. Id actually feed cat chow or another cheap food over it.
Thank you for this review! Very helpful! I always see this brand, but have been wary of it. Also, could you please do a review of Sheba brand cat food? I would really appreciate it! ♥️
We plan to, Paige! Thank you for your comment.
Thanks for your videos, you have seriously taught me soooo much and prompted me to do hours of extensive research of the doos and don'ts of pet foods! I love my cat so it's very important to me that he has a healthy and appropriate diet, I want him to live as long as possible!!
What is your opinion on raw food? I've been considering making his food myself and doing lots of research on recipes.
Thanks for the video! Interestingly enough I looked at her wet cat food 3 days ago and I thought it looked greasy. I looked on the label and when I saw vegetable oil I said nope...nope.. nope! I was definitely perplexed at why they would even do this. I don't even eat oil!
My cat really enjoyed and couldn't wait to eat more of the Rachael Ray Nutrish dry cat food. She actually preferred it to the Fancy Feast that she is used to eating. I was so impressed. I was going to try the Blue Buffalo line in dry food but I will get my cat more of this.
Same for my cat. She is a picky eater, it was very hard try a dry food that she like. I tried everything, dry food, wet food even human food until I get this one and she only like the chicken flavor. Maybe is not the beat food but is the only one that my cat eat.
Same story here. Picky eater (will literally starve himself) + Nutrish = clean bowl.
Thanks for another great and informative review video. :)
In the future, could you review either Acana or Orijen cat food? It's made local in my area (Alberta, Canada).
We plan to! Thank you for stopping by.
Carageenan is mainly water-based carbohydrates (which means fiber). The study that linked it to cancer-causing agents is unfounded. Correlation does not mean causation. In fact, carageenan and other seaweed extracts are potent immunostimulants in farmed fish. These extracts have shown anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. I know this because I worked first hand on fish diseases and immune health. In food industry, Carageenan is a natural food stabilizer and thickener.
Nevertheless, a high carbohydrate diet is indeed not good for cats. But carageenan in itself shouldn’t be a reason for concern.
Very informative I need to find better food that they will eat look very nice as always
I have never brought this cat food, and to be honest after seeing this video, i don't think i will either.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been giving my cats the chicken and rice dry food for a little over a year now and just now paying attention to the ingredients 😞 I did back then but didn’t bother looking into corn gluten meal and the effects it can potential have on our furry friends. One of my cats has been suffering from really bad skin allergies and I’m convinced now it’s because of the corn meal that’s in the food. Now looking for an alternative to feed both of my senior cats even though it’s only affecting one. Any recommendations is highly appreciated! 🙏🏼🤗
Love your content! I would be interested to see a review of Simply Nourish foods!
Yes!
I do a mix of this food with tiki cat canned wet food. while this food isn’t the best with all the carbs, I hope giving him quality wet food several times a week helps him get everything he needs in his diet.
Wow thank you..... No more for my kitty
Love your videos! Could you do a review on life’s abundance cat food?
We'll consider it! Thank you!
Wow. My cat is 9 years old and I've had her since I was 16. So she's been thru all my mistakes with me. I used to feed her this food for a few years. No wonder why she's chonky 😔 She's on a much better diet now and is much more energetic than now than she ever was when I was feeding this grade of food
You look great with your hair updo.
Thanks, Dianne. :)
My kitty cat loves the wet food of the Rachael Ray Nutrish cat food. She always rubbed her head against the wet food box.
You and your cat both are beautiful
Thank you for the excellent job sharing about all things cats. I recently discovered this channel on utube, and I have a question about training a kitten not to bite my hands. We got her from the animal shelter when she was three weeks old, bottle fed her and now she is two months old. She’s a healthy indoor kitten, lots of energy, but attacks our hands, feet and legs constantly. We play with her frequently and she has toys. We are a one cat family. Any helpful tips?
Anytime she bites hands, give her a toy instead. Similar to teething puppies it’s actually important for them to learn bite inhibition so they know not too bite too hard as they grow up into adult animals. Along with toys when she is teething, I would also give out a “Yelp” or a loud sound to stun or alert her when she’s being too rough:) I’ve raised kittens from 3 weeks old so I understand that she may need to “bite” while she’s teething and to learn bite inhibition since she does not have her mom or siblings to teach her :) best of luck to you and yours & I hope you have a beautiful life with your kitten!
Hi ??? After watching your channel we chose to feed our 2 kittens (32 wks old), Wellness can kitten food 3oz cans chicken pate. We started with Natures Instinct at 8wks, then they started diarrhea after a couple months so we switched to Wellness kitten with no problems so far. ????My question is, they always want food but we are not sure if they are eating too much or not enough??? The little girl seems like she is getting chunky (plays a lot) and boy seems fine. They eat 3 and a half 3oz cans a day, EACH. They are both fixed. They also chew like puppies on EVERYTHING. They were taught young, scratch on their posts and tree but they do so much damage chewing. Do they chew because they want to crunch something like kibble?
I serve RR dry kibble to my cats... What you have in that bag of Chicken and Brown Rice is not what it looks like. The kibble is small, and tends to be uniform in size and brown color.
Thanks for your FYI. I've always switched up what I feed my 2 10yr old Cats... I think feeding them any one thing for to long is bad and they dont mind the switch. But they do favor "Fancy Feast". I've bought the expensive stuff here n there and it seems the more I pay the less they like it. Sadly I've got a lot of costly bags laying around ;(
See If the animal shelter will take them and if not give them to a family member who has a cat also can you pls tell me what brands your cat likes
I would like to explore that with my kitten but since he’s 6 months old I’m not sure if I should switch up kitten food with him for variety. I’ve also heard that Fancy Feast is very popular with cats 😂
I’m in the process of adopting a cat and the women at the shelter mentioned most drug store cat food are terrible but she said Fancy Feast is actually really good for cats (for its price point).
tamara That’s good to know about Fancy Feast.. Did she mention which brands in particular are not good?
@@ericapoe She told me to NEVER buy the 9 lives brand, she said it's super bad. That's all she said but All About Cats has tons of awesome videos on best wet/dry foods and I'm going to try a brand they recommend!
I'm very happy you did this review I've been looking for the best food for when I get a cat and this was one I was interested in I'm looking in to getting 2 because If I go somewhere I want her or him to have company 🐈 I want them as kittens though because I want them to have the longest time with me possible and I will definitely adopt!
I tried every brand. My cats simply refused to eat Nine Lives, Friskeys, etc. My babies are Rachel Ray generation kitties. Just wish it weren't so expensive!!
try chewy.com
9lives, Friskies, and other cheap cat food aren't good for cats at all. So that's probably why your cats hate it. But Rachael Ray isn't that good either.
So I give my cat nutrish wet food and earth burn holistics. My cats ages are 2, 6, 14, 16. I usually keep the earthborn dry food out all day and give them each a spoonful of wet food. (Either from nutrish or earthborn) please help me decide on a good feeding system for my cats. And did you do a review on the earthborn?
Have you ever done an in-depth look at Rachel Ray’s longevity? My cats are starting to show signs of being intolerant of this food and have been getting repeatedly sick every time they eat it so I’m just curious if you’ve ever looked at this particular brand of Rachel Ray’s cat food
I got a kitten last year and this is what I chose to feed solely as a dry food because he loves it # 1 and #2 he never got sick on it...any of the kinds and he seems to love them all. I feed him fancy feast as his daily soft food and he's got special flavors he will eat and not others ..nothing with Liver or salmon or trout. .lol. I know this is not the greatest diet by what I'm finding out but I want him to be happy and by him waking me up at 4.30 in the morning every morning to give him some soft food..I think he is. Maybe there's a supplement that can be added to meet the needs the foods he chooses doesn't have?
We tried the Sensitive Stomach recipe that she has a couple months ago (before you educated me on cat food.) It made two out of my three cats puke/ diarrhea multiple days even after slowly introducing it. I also really dislike the wet food being in plastic cups. Is it just me, or is that becoming more common? 🥫
Great review, but i am bummed out. I feed my cats Rachael Ray's Zero Grain Indoor Chicken and Potato Recipe. It claims zero grain, gluten or filler ingredients and zero poultry by product meal. I wonder what kind of review on ingredients you would give this recipe.
Next video on how to train your cat
Can you do a review on taste of the wild cat food
We plan to do so very soon! Thank you for stopping by.
Love your videos! Will you do a review on tucker's raw meat as well?
We'll think about it. Thanks for subscribing!
Just bought it so let’s see how it goes
My cat Soot likes your channel
Shout out to Soot! Thank you for watching. 😊
Is it normal for the Rachel rays dry food (chicken) to have black spots?
Lady I do work for bought Rachael Ray products and said that her cat didn't like it, she gave it to me and none of my cats wouldn't eat it as well and my cats are not picky eaters this was the first.
Informed consent is the law for fixing the pet vets receptionist from lying so much...sue them.
Do a review of ziwi cat food!
Hi Mallory! I have a question. I have two new kittens, about 3 months old. I’ve been feeding them Fancy Feast kitten food as I thought it was a good match based on your review. What is your stance on switching foods up every so often for variety’s sake? I try to get as many different flavors as possible for them and rotate regularly, but I am curious if cats respond poorly to food changes like dogs do? Thanks for your help!
Kelly - I think honestly this depends on your individual animal. I switch between FF kitten varieties on a daily basis(I have a variety pack that I just dumped into a tub, grabbing whatever can is on top when it’s time to feed), and I switch between a few different dog foods with my pups. I’ve never had trouble with either cats or dogs when I switch. I don’t like to stick with the same protein forever, Since there’s no way to know if that one protein will be nutritionally complete for your animal for ever and ever. That said, I know there are a lot of people who have difficulty with switching food. I suggest you try it out and just see.
Hi Kelly, it really depends on your cat and their background. In my experience, cats who start their lives on a varied diet tend to transition well to new foods. On the other hand, those who consume a strict diet of a single recipe for years may have a harder time transitioning to something new. Frequent rotation is a good idea! It helps to prevent your cat from getting hooked on any one thing, could potentially reduce the risk of food sensitivities, and may offer some protection if one food has a quality issue or is recalled.
would you be able to review different cat carriers ? took my cat on a drive, and she almost clawed her way out of her bag
I have a triangle shaped carrier from amazon! It’s nice and spacey and came with a cozy pad. Technically you’re supposed to put the cat in through the front flap but I find it easier to put my kitties in from the top. I can find a link for you!
Sport Pet Foldable Travel Cat Carrier - Front Door Plastic Collapsible Carrier Collection www.amazon.com/dp/B00EI3ZKP0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_O7kzFbMRRKJ81
Are you able to talk about the Peak line of Nutrish cat food? It’s advertised as being higher in protein and grain free. My cats have been on the indoor advantage kibble and the wet foods for awhile and I’ve just started transitioning them over to Peak (as an easier switch than changing brands entirely) but I’m wondering if I’ll have to change their food all the way. They really like the whole chunks of meat they get in this food!
Hey Madeline, that's a great question. Here's a quick overview of the Peak line:
The PEAK line is a smidge better than other Rachael Ray lines. PEAK dry food, like the Woodland recipe you’ve been feeding, appears to have a higher percentage of protein from meat over plants, likely increasing its digestibility. It contains chicken fat instead of vaguely-named poultry fat, which suggests a higher level of quality, and compared to other Nutrish lines, it’s lower in starchy plant ingredients.
Those improvements aside, PEAK dry food is nevertheless plant-heavy, relatively high-carbohydrate, and moisture-depleted. It would not be my first choice or recommendation.
Both compared to the dry varieties and their counterparts in other lines, PEAK wet foods are a little lower in carbohydrates, averaging around 7% on a dry matter basis. If they didn’t contain carrageenan, get lukewarm customer reviews, cost around $3 a day, they could rank among the better products on the market.
Overall, the PEAK line is decent, but not outstanding. It’s similar to Crave or Pure Balance-I’d give it a B- overall.
All About Cats Thank you for the information!!
Do you think the instinct original is a good cat food? Once we finish the cage of food I am thinking about switching him to a raw food diet that I make at home
Hello Emma, Instinct's foods are some of the best I've seen. Between that and a raw diet, it sounds like your cat's on a good diet. If you want to learn more about Instinct, you can read our complete review here: allaboutcats.com/natures-variety-instinct-cat-food-review

Can u please do a Royal Canin review ??
Yes! We plan to do so very soon.
Hello my cat has been eating this for some months and I found out how bad it was and this video helped a lot as well but I'm not sure what brand to use to replace it since she's picky I just bought American journey cat food from chewy and she doesn't seem to want it.

TØP and BTS Definitely get a fecal PCR done because he may have parasites. I would feed him a raw diet.

I echo this. I’ve just switched my dogs over to their food, and I’m thinking about using their cat food for my kittens when they get old enough.
I bought the second kibble for my kitten I will be returning it
Hi Mallory, Has your Cats ever gotten sick from any food that you reviewed?
No. Thank goodness. I've worried about that, and I would feel terrible if that happened.
Rachel,
"Our cats insisted we write this comment."
We love you, and your shows about HUMAN cuisine. We also understand how it works for a celebrity like you to license your nome for food, and other products to other producers - assuming you control the end quality of those products.
We understand as to pet food it is not like you are busy in your licensee's pet food kitchens inventing & testing 1st hand their products to put your name on them.
But you have your name on at least one product line that is essentially substandard.
Namely your Nutrish cat food line. Yes grain free is good, and we assume other Nutrish ingredients have acceptable quality.
But there is something about your wet food recipes that our cats, and our neighbors cats do not like?
Maybe it is the texturized protein, or the sauce, or something they just will not eat readily, if at all?
Whatever may be gourmet to humans is not "gourmet", or even "tasty fast food" to any cats in our neighborhood.
As to humans you -more than most - know you could prepare an otherwise gourmet meal full of quality ingredients, but if you do not skillfully do so with skilful preparation of those ingredients to achieve a certain epitome standard it fails as a gourmet dish, or even is of no interest to the consumer or offensive.
Your food skills for humans often achieve this excellence. But not for cats.
We decided to throw what's left of the better part of 3 boxes of 12 ea. of your Nutrish in the garbage unopened since it mostly winds up there openned anyway.
We suggest you make your Nutrish licensee perfect its formulas for pets, like you do for humans, or that you license your name elsewhere.
What about Chewy's American Journey grain-free cat food?
I looked for a video and didn't find anything.
Hi Linda, we haven't reviewed American Journey on the UA-cam channel yet, but we did cover it on our site: allaboutcats.com/american-journey-cat-food-review

Nutrish? More like Poisonish. Does Rachel Ray hate cats??? Rice as an ingredient jumped out at me because when rice is on the menu, arsenic is almost always a side dish. Worse, glyphosate/Roundup is a well documented carcinogen.
Mallory 😍😍😘
this is the only dry food my cat will eat. i literally bought him every brand on the market and this is the one he liked. while i would like to find a better low carb high protein dry food for my cat, ultimately he decides what he will eat and what he will not eat, and this is what he has chosen.
Junk food tastes good, same with human.
Same with mine. I understand you very well I even force her with the same food and after 2 days without no eat anything I just give up and let her with this food. She only like one flavor. 😭
When Nutrish first came out I’m 98% sure it didn’t have corn gluten meal in it. I use to buy it when it first came out. Quite disappointing
It seems that a cat who lives indoors and is less active should have a diet even higher in protein and fat content. No Nutrish for my cat (she doesn't like it much, anyway).
I just bought this for my cat. she wants nothing to do with it. she will only eat Meow Mix or Friskies. I'm going to keep trying with foods from your top 11 list of wet foods!
can we do Wellness next time~?
Hi there. We plan to review Wellness cat food at some point in the near future.
What are your budget friendly choices?
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/rBLRdbv3JHI/v-deo.html
@@AllAboutCatsYT Is the diamond maintenance a better cat food than Rachel Ray?
Need super help with this one. I need a cheaper dry food for my small colony and my indoor kitties. Rachel Ray ( seems maybe they changed their recipe) or diamond Maintenance?
I watched several videos and the recall rating standard seems inconsistent. Rachael ray gets 4/10 for just 1 recall, Blue Buffalo gets 3/10 for 8 recalls, and Royal Cain gets 5/10 for 3 recalls. I wonder what exactly is the rating standard?
Hi Tracy, good observation. I agree that we need to firm up our rating system as currently it's rather vaguely-defined. When choosing these ratings, I take into consideration the age of the company and the severity of the recalls. This page explains how we rate cat food brands: allaboutcats.com/cat-food-reviews
My cat loves this food but time for a change
Can kittens eat adult cat food?
They can, but assuming that the food is formulated to meet AAFCO guidelines for adult maintenance, it will not have the nutritional density that kittens need.
@@AllAboutCatsYT Thank you
Hi
time to switch my cats food 😬
Side note; you're sooo pretty
When such a big name, but making a kibble is very disapointing. Especially cats, what's going on inside their heads ? Cats and kibble not make sense. Once again when choosing food for either cats or dogs, forget the brands, forget the price, just look at the food.
When it is in kibble form, it belong in trash.
Don't waste your money and time, when we pay premium and such a big name big company, we deserve something more than a kibble.
Kibble should never been allow to produce.
Want a convenient ? Dehydrated ( air dried or freeze dried ), it's as convenient as kibble but proper for our pets. Cooked or Raw much better, want convenient ? there is PRE-MADE Cooked and Raw in the market available to purchase. so no reason to say oh i don't have time to cooked or to prep raw for my dogs and cats. When you pay premium, buying a branded stuff, we deserve premium quality too.
And kibble is no more than a trash.

Congratulations and thanks for commenting! :)
My cat would not touch this! Even the feral cats outside would walk away from this "food". I'm surrounded by woods where I live,I where all sorts of animals exist,I put it outside on my patio, hoping to get rid of it,but it was still there in the morning 😒😒😒
Tried it not good made in Twain to expensive gives nothing don’t like it! Nerver ordered again! It’s not to good wet maybe cheap on dry. Acessment of wet food it’s horrible my cats hated it. I returned to the company.
I’m glad I haven’t bought that brand. Pretty bad ratings. Lots of carbs even in the wet food.
I can see people wanting cheap dry food for feeding feral neighborhood cats. Lots of people feed community cats and don’t want to go broke doing it.
Did Victoria Rachel made this lol 😆 😆😆😆 like if you think
Rachael Ray food makes my cats puke and they won't even eat the wet food. They will eat almost any other brand of wet food but, will not touch her wet food. Mine are now on Royal Canin dry food and Tiki Cat wet food.
My cats hated this
The video or the food? I hope they're feeling happier now!
Feed this to my cat , My cat only lived to be 8, this shit killed my cat ,Don't buy it .They should feed this crap to Rachael Ray and see how long she lives. She made her money and moved on .
