Lawnmower man, just like Eric O.
Excellent video it gave me the confidence to do this job myself. Thank you thomas v
I have used a tool like this before. Once you take the old valve out you know you are committed and have to carefully put the new one in and don’t relax until you feel the threads catch and the valve tighten up.
A+ video! This is my first time seeing your videos and I subbed. I've done a lot of wrench turning but never had to change a schrader valve. I like how you trouble shooted the process in the video. There are so many videos that jump cut to the processes that work instead of showing what could be going wrong.
Great video, thanks! After having a pro replace leaking schraeders as an add-on repair for what seemed like I low price, I asked how they did it without evacuating the system. The price made it obvious that they didn't have to, or that they did nothing but the magic valve healing dance. When I asked the tech how they did it he said, "We have special, very expensive machine". Don't you love the auto business stroke-fest? It's why I work on my own cars whenever possible. I think I'll order up one of those "special, very expensive machines". Cheers.
It's great for you to show the struggle with the o-ring as that would surely trip me up when I do this to my Honda next weekend. Thank you!
Thank you! I did some work on my car yesterday, and I thought I would just quickly check my valves in my AC while I was under the hood. Both are leaking! But I didn't want to pay someone to recover my coolant, replace the valves, and recharge the system as that would cost way more than I would be willing just to replace a 4 cent part. This is exactly what I need to get, and I love that you showed not only how to use it, but how not to and why (overtightening is bad because...)
Thank you for showing everything including your struggles. Surely that will help me when I go to do it!
Thanks ! I’m going to get me that same master cool tool and fix my car and truck leaks ! Great video !
My low pressure valve was leaking after using one of those AC recharge cans. This tool totally works, just replaced my low pressure port valve this morning in about 10 minutes! Amazon shipped me the tool in 1 day and I had it fixed the next day. However, I did have to mess around with trying to "grab" the valve core again after unscrewing it. A bit scary, but it was just floating around down there because it fell off the end of the tool. I was able to get it after a few minutes of fishing.
Thanks for the video and tool recomendation!
Thanks for nice explanation.
Thanks! You could turn this in to a drinking game for every Tim you say “schrader”😂
88 was a hot day... the people of Phoenix, AZ or Las Vegas, NV say welcome to early spring. 110 is a hot day
Nice video
Know anything about these crazy extra large valves? My tools aren’t big enough.
I've replaced this same schraeder valve on my '05 GMC Yukon that has this exact setup and it's leaking again. Think I'll get the tool to make this easier/cheaper.
Yes Dave, it's seems that the quality of the valve and/or seals is very crappy these days.
If my issue is the valve ill be buying this tool just waiting for DHL to deliver the black light so I can look for the dye I put in.
Hello.. have you tried using the high side tool to see if works on taking the highline valve off?..from reviews people were saying the valve tool didn't fit. Thanks man
What is allthat noise
Will a bad schrader valve make it unable to refill system after new pump vap valve and evaporator ??? what would be solution replace hoses also high and low pressure lines ??
Hi. Does this tool fit any r134 automotive ac system? Thank you
@@AxlesGarage This might not work on all cars. I have a 1999 Cadillac (R134a system). The schraeder valve is not directly exposed to the open port. There is "dome" over the valve on both the low and high pressure ports. I don't think I can attach a photo otherwise I would show you the problem. Looking at my 2015 Mini Cooper the valve is directly exposed and the tool would work. My 2003 GMC van is not here at the moment but I will check and see if it has the same problem.
Mine was a mystery leak until this morning when I wasfinally able to hear it hissing. Dye would never have found it, dye was already sprayed all over that area from me fumbling around with it like a moron
I did the soap water test and dye test, only the pow pressure valve is leaking. Do I need to replace the lines as well or just the valve?
Just the valve if no leaks detected along the lines and connections with your sudsy water
I was going to try to just hurry and change mine or pay someone but this is what I need if it's not too much money.
What exactly did you loosen on the tool to get it to work? Did it not leak after?
Update: I just realized you explained it at the end of the video :)
Would it be ideal to check for leaks while the truck is running with AC on? Or truck off ?
My 97 cougar has a stupid ball valve instead of a Schrader valve its leaking grrrr!!!
I have the same tool and it worked ok too, it's usually the high side that ends up leaking on GM's. Tech tip 1: You're best off to not even hook up the gauge to the high side unless you absolutely have too or is good chance it will start to leak, also you should just replace both high and low side schrader valves every time the system is empty, why take any chances of a leak, right? Tech tip 2: I just switch all my vehicles over to enviro safe r134a replacement refrigerant that way you don't have to f**k around trying to recover it to do repairs, it's only 20 bucks or so to refill it, so it's just a lot easier to just let it vent out, vacuum the system out and refill it, I think anyway.
Beware that the "Envirosafe" is flammable, it is just propane. The old car AC systems are not designed to be safe for flammable gas.
@@mrfrenzy. Yeah the stuff in newer vehicles that replaced R134a is flammable too and they never changed a thing, same lines compressor, ect. So is the gas going though your paper thin injector lines. Been using it for 10 years now in so many vehicles, I won't lose any sleep over it.
@@paulf3067 the newer vehicles have a stronger evaporator that is less likely to leak inside the cabin, also they use R1234yf which is much harder to ignite then regular propane - it will not burn unless it touches an open flame.
Tell the dude cuttin grass that he's a ballbag for havin to do that while you're demonstrating a fkn youtube mechanic assist video. Thanks a lot! 😅
It doesn't work on a 2012 Ford Ranger on either the low or high side! It doesn't fit on either schrader valve and the high side valve is to big for the bore of the tool.
I have a can sitting right in front of me that literally says "freon 134a" lol
If the cap is make a tight seal, why replace the shrader valve?
@@alanmainwaring1830 Depends entirely on the type of cap. Some are indeed designed to seal against a service valve leak and have a torque rating. Generally made of brass and have a chamfered edge.
Why does it wiggle so much
This guy took so long to explain this basic tool that I lost all my refrigerant while waiting for him to her to the point.
This guy is learning the tool on video but the title gives the impression that its a tutorial.
Wear glasses
Thanks for the real life video when things don't always go perfect, I always encounter problems when I do projects.👍
Glad to help
