Leafs need to trade marner
I think they may actually keep him now. The thought is Berube as the new HC may come up with a viable plan to make him better in the playoffs. The worst thing the Leafs can do is trade any player that will hurt them in playing for a new team ... particularly in the playoffs.

He's not a great player look at playoff stats Marner simply doesn't measure up.
I hope Matthews puts on his big girl panties because Berube will be demanding the team play in the hard areas, winning puck battles, or this is just not going to work. When it comes to the playoffs it requires teams to play a heavy game and Berube knows it.

It's not going to go, like a lot are hoping! Accountability, no excuses or leeway cause when they miss the playoffs every from Pelley, Berube, Treviling and Shanahan should all be fired. Terrible hire and anyone who thinks premier free agents want to play for this guy is going to find out soon. Greener pastures some where else. Lost cause we couldn't score. Played great defence. So we hire a guy that doesn't create offence. But he has cup. So did Babcock. How did that work out? Pure genius! Not! Buffalo, Ottawa, New Jersey, and Detroit will all be better than Toronto! It's incumbent on all Toronto media outlets to LOUDLY announce our desire to acquire the services of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, by outbidding all offers once they become available. The coach has little to do with it. The Toronto fan base deserve superstar players that actually want to win a Stanley cup, are willing to sacrifice their body/health to accomplish this..unlike the current overpaid "regular season dynamos" that wimp out come playoffs, claiming headaches, or a runny nose..give me a break..the reason Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Orr, Howe, LaFleur, Bossy, Crosby are revered as the greatest players of all time is because of PLAYOFF success, not regular season, sadly the current lot of overpaid Leafs will inevitably be forgotten like all the other guys that never one a cup if they don't produce, and succeed in the playoffs.. Hockey seems like itsthe only professional sport that recycles the same list of coaches and thinking there will be a different result.
Berube will be too hard on the star players and they'll have him run out of town within two years. The entitled Leaf players ran Babcock out of town and stopped listening to Keefe for the last year. The only option is to split up the top four. Trade at least two of them like Marner and Tavares. Make Reilly or Matthews the captain.
I am done with this dumpster fire. Management watched and said nothing as Marner with 22 points in 18 playoff games over the past 2 years got thrown under the bus. Marner came off an injury and was likely playing injured this year and they said nothing. Then we are faced with the lie about zero tolerance for racism as they hire some guy who was suspended for calling a black player a monkey. This is the team of the city and he is getting paid millions of dollars. There needs to be a higher standard than for the idiots who threw Marner under the bus. Management needs to be replaced.
