I named my first daughter after this song - Chloe - I loved the line "Chloe's just like me, only beautiful." God that still touches my soul. Wherever you are, Chloe, I miss you and I love you, still, all my heart and soul. You're still my little Chloe
Seattle is a city like no other, such a wealth of talent, yet so many succumb to Heroin, it just breaks your heart, some people are are just shooting stars in this show called life, you will be remembered forever Andrew,
the link between hair metal and grunge...as opposed to what the mainstream media has told you, it wasn't a stone cold change...it was simply an evolution
I was 8 months and 11 days old when this was filmed. I bet Wood had no idea that babies in the UK would be enjoying this performance 22 years later. If only he'd known. The music in those days was incredible. Thank god the internet was invented - I'm so glad I discovered this band.
Considering how rare this is, the poor video quality can be forgiven. I was in Seattle in 1989 and sorry to say I missed out on them. They were a flash of wasted genius, but their legacy remains alive in gems like this. Cheers!
I was 8 months and 11 days old when this was filmed. I bet Wood had no idea that babies in the UK would be enjoying this performance 22 years later. If only he'd known. Man I wish I was alive back then - the music is just incredible.
I knew Andy since 4th grade. What made him special was torment, love and many questions with doubt. Don't forget about the musicians around him, from Malfunkshun to MLB, he was put in the spotlight and given a chance to shine. We dont know where it would have gone, I know it would have been big, huge...thats what hurts the most. Love you Andy.
Oh, my jesus christ! WTF! This is more than a legacy. Such an envy I feel for you, man. You were there... Right before Andy passed away. WOW (a thousand times)
You made me feel better and I'm sorry to do this to you, I was 17 when this song broke. My wife and I reminisce how new Grunge was in the early 90's and now that music is 20 years old and hardly played on the radio. It's a shame, although I couldn't image myself in flannel this winter!
unbeliveable that someone had this! andrew wood and all the members of mlb would have been the greatest american band ever! heroin kills, and it killed a great voice/poet here :( but thanks to the other members who went on to do great things also! love battery being the less known of the 2 :) rock on PJ and keep up the playing of this live!
God, I love "Chloe Dancer". Andy was so talented, and Mother Love Bone is my favorite band of all time. It's so sad he died. "Chloe Dancer / Crown of Thorns" happens to be my favorite song of all time. (more "Chloe Dancer" though). When I first heard "Chloe Dancer" I was speechless, as if Andy was me writing the song. I relate to it so much in the tragedy of love and having such a beautiful woman laying by my side and then she's not there anymore. It hurts. Chloe Dancer is forever.
You are one lucky man. I traveled to Seattle a few years back and tried to find that club only to see that it had been torn down and I think there was a Subway and new fancy looking buildings.
I love this song. I learned how to play every instrument of it. Andrew is buzzing his ass off in this video. He was having trouble remembering the lyrics and some of the piano. But he and the crowd seemed to enjoy it immensely so that's all that matters. RIP to a genius.
He had an amazing voice...such a shame he never even saw the album get released - he died right before it came out. I was thinking the same thing 1845dikey said...if it wasn't for his death, we wouldn't have Pearl Jam - one of the most Amazing bands! Eddie was deep, interesting, and stayed true to himself and the band, and still is to this day!
LOL yes, Bryan...sorry, I'm not laughing at you, your comment was cute "or somethin?" Anyway, when this singer died, two of the guitarists had no band to go to, until Eddie, trying to make a band, met up with them, and the rest is History. I watched the making of Pearl Jam on some random HD channel, and it was awesome! PS - I love your picture!
Lisa Rose Hey Lisa, it was actually Mike McCready that phoned Stone and Jeff to come in and start a new band. Eddie's demo tape "momma son/footprints" happened to land in Mike's lap and Pearl Jam was formed.
@mhaces That was the offramp tavern at the bottom of capitol hill. I used to go there all the time in the early 90s. Great venue. Too bad it's gone. Way better than the Rockcandy was. They always had good bands.
I think I saw them Halloween '89 in Seattle at a bar in either Belltown, Capitol Hill or the bar downtown by the viaduct that I no longer remember the name of. We hopped to many places that night and I had only been living in Seattle for 6 weeks and didn't know the city yet at all, so I've never been completely sure where I was and if it was indeed MLB I saw that night. Can someone confirm that they actually played that night in Seattle, or not, for me? Thanks.
i was there... coming up on 30 years ago, holy roller! the sound kinda sucked, but hard to sound good in a room of concrete & metal... fairweather... wow, that kid could play! they were magic together, all of them, there has never been another band that do the LOVEROCK like this
Heroin at it's finest - the worst. these people ever played. Worse than I ever did at my most fucked up. This is a training video. Hellshit aside, I still love every one of these dudes to death (npi) but this shows you how not to be. GOD LOVE ANDREW.
Every time I hear this song I weep and wonder what could have been.
I bought this bootleg on a VHS tape back in 1991 in Detroit. Watched it a million times. I love it so much. I miss you so much Andy....R.I.P.
Thank you so much. This is a treasure. We miss you, Andrew..............
I named my first daughter after this song - Chloe - I loved the line "Chloe's just like me, only beautiful." God that still touches my soul. Wherever you are, Chloe, I miss you and I love you, still, all my heart and soul. You're still my little Chloe
take me back to 89 and this concert when it was the beginning of a time that music was beautiful...

This is the best song of all time.

Mother love bone was the beginning a cornerstone for so many bands
This is a great archive! Thanks 4 posting!
Mother Love Bone AWSOME!! Deep!! Its a shame Andrew Wood died so young. What a great front man. Love rock awaits us and has graced us with MLB!!
ANDREW WOOD
my best days were with your songs
so great!
I'm not sure what I was doing this night, but I wasn't at Bumbershoot seeing this song live...I lost on that day, lost big time..
Andrew's life lives on through his music, what a brilliant song wished he was still here I would definitely have him on my pandora list of artist.
Amazing. You will never be forgotten Andrew.
Awesome stuff happening at that time... Times sure did change.
One of my all time favorite songs ever.

A-mazing!!
And today it's been 20 years since he passed. R.i.P. Andrew Wood.
Freakin' awesome. Now to find a video of the U-Men's infamous Bumbershoot performance.
What an absolute gem! Thank you!!!
WOW!
I love you!!! 😍😍😍
What an amazing piece of rock history. Andy had such a talent, real shame he couldn't overcome his addiction.
Same with all the greats...they used music as an outlet and the result was beautiful, amazing music.
Unfortunate, and sort of a sacrifice in many ways
This should be in the USA archives!!!
the best ballad to ever have been thought of in 1989
My most missed Person
Life is what you make it. If you make it death, well rest your soul...
Man this is great.... fucking awesome.
You are one lucky man. I traveled to Seattle a few years back and tried to find that club only to see that it had been torn down and I think there was a Subway and new fancy looking buildings.
great voice
you legacy is alive andy
Andy wood will be in the HOF soon!! ( Herion Obviously Fiendly) lyrics are timeless and so opiated
I love this song. I learned how to play every instrument of it. Andrew is buzzing his ass off in this video. He was having trouble remembering the lyrics and some of the piano. But he and the crowd seemed to enjoy it immensely so that's all that matters. RIP to a genius.
Love it
@holland2312
I'm glad you did too. Good to know a younger generation gets it.
Classic
@itsherbie33 And this is before cell phone cameras so this was shot on some old VHS camera.
tkz andy....just tks
R.I.P Andy ......for shure he was a great showman. But on the other hand the band would never be as sucsessfull without Eddie .

Wow, it just occured to me that the Felix Da Housecat tune Ready 2 Wear is ripped from Chloe Dancer.
@dmarod Wait on... I heard the Croc. reopened under different ownership, no?
andy!!
@corptkm is this movie available yet
@bguggs16 It sounds like he says, "Elvis is on next..."
@santamariashark what did he do to you?
