I did this trail last Sunday. It will absolutely test your comfort zone. When we reached the top, there was about a dozen white mountain goats. That made it worth the climb.
Thanks! That spot at 9:00 really just looked worse than it was. Even the supposed off camber spot before that wasn’t bad, but that’s just me. Stacy didn’t come on this trip or I would have had her spot me out the passenger window and I would have put my passenger tire closer to the edge, out of the rut and up on the bank. I think my Jeep sits a little tall with 3.5” lift and 35s and it felt good to me. It’s a great little trail! Thanks for watching. - Geoff
Thanks Philip! It’s a really great trail! The views are amazing. I also love that there is a whole massive network of connected trails up there - Geoff
😂 Shelf roads are always like that! To be honest, I was pretty spooked before we ran it. The “tippy spot” that everyone complains about was not bad at all. The actual shelf road portion wasn’t too bad either. It’s narrow but short. I’m glad I checked it off the list but I don’t have any desire to run it again really. It’s worth running though. Radical Hill has always evaded me due to snow or other people in the group not wanting to run it. Devil’s Punchbowl is definitely more narrow and way longer. It’s not as bad as Black Bear or Devil’s Punchbowl. - Geoff
For me, the order of worst to easiest as far as scariness goes: 1 Cliffhanger in Moab. 2 Devil’s Punchbowl. 3. Black Bear. 4. Radical Hill. We haven’t ran Blanca yet but I heard those little shelf sections are spooky
Geoff. great stuff. Did not know a lot about Radical Hill but it’s got some gnarly wheelin’, for sure. Beautiful and the intro with the drone and music was spot on, buddy. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Tom! Hope you are doing well. You can see old Red Cone off in the distance there on the drone shots. Hopefully I will have more videos coming out soon. Summer has been busy with kids activities!
I drove this trail around 2009 in a 2003 4Runner starting from the top. Below there were about 15 cars gathering with the occupants watching me. When I came to the bottom, they told me there was a betting pool if I would fail or make it. Only one guy in that group of 15 betted I would make it. I’ll never run that trail again. The tippy sections are too much for my fear of heights.
It’s true! It was pretty narrow in that one spot as well. It was a pucker factor but wasn’t as bad as everyone made it out to be. But, it was as awesome as everyone made it out to be 😂 - Geoff
I finally found your channel again. I started a little for fun channel here on the east coast jeepNdirt and was motivated by the areas you cover. I thought I had subscribed but evidently I didn't LOL. Glad I found your channel again. I'm trying to get out west to do these type of trails for my channel. I spent some time out there a few years ago on my Adventure motorcycle (BMW R1200GSA) but it was too big for me to tackle some of the trails you highlight. The whole time I was wishing I had my jeep. LOL. Great stuff man. I'm now subscribed.
Thanks for the comment! Lots of great trails in Colorado to wheel! Mild to wild and everything in between with scenery to boot! Thanks for subscribing! - Geoff
Another great video Geoff! I'll have to try this one. I'm not stranger to shelf roads with exposure. The guy in the F150 with open diffs surprised me 😂
Just to show its more about the line you take than tires or vehicle or even if you have lockers.. that guy in F150 knows what he's doing or maybe just drunk.. probably both lol I see his hood up at the top
Yep. I agree with you 💯. It’s not the rig! It’s the driver and Todd is totally sober. He just flat gets after it. He successfully made it up Hell’s Gate without pulling cable, no lockers, by himself on his first Moab trip. People make too much fuss about gear but they don’t even care to learn how to drive, spot or understand lines. I love seeing different rigs wheeling. I get tired of seeing the same Wrangler over and over again. Think about that group of guys that wheel stock Willys military Jeeps on the hardest trails around including Penrose. The one guy said “I love running Pritchett and seeing a Jeep with beadlocks, 40s and one ton axles struggling on an obstacle and I pull up in my Willys. This guy spent more on his wheels and tires than I did on my rig and we’re on the same trail” 😂😂😂
@@Iceman_777 Awesome brother! Getting it done in the F-150. Just goes to show, most of high mountain passes can be knocked out in most 4WD vehicles, even a Subaru haha. I used to own a 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 with lunchbox lockers front and rear (lockright's). It would go anywhere my Jeep goes. I don't suppose you could upgrade the F150 front diff to something like that...
@@Iceman_777 Yeah just a rear locker would go a long way.. I've never modded an IFS front so I wouldn't even know the options. I have a 2016 ram powerwagon along with the '20 Wrangler JLUR, both on 37's with 4.56 in the truck and 5.13's in the jeep. It's pretty cool you wheel that regular 4x4 F150.. they must be tough as hell! An 8.8 is actually stronger than the dana 44. Never knew they put the 8.8 ring gear in the front IFS of Fords.
@@Iceman_777 yep wheeling eats parts.. even on the JL's.. better have have repair fund. I'm on my third front trackbar, second stab, new steering and ball joints in 52k miles.
This is my favorite off road video. No loud music, you can hear the tires gripping for traction... it just feels like I’m there with you on the trail.
Thank you! I appreciate it. - Geoff
That’s some real off-roading dedication!
Cheers!

It sure does! There’s most always goats up there. It’s great! - Geoff
wow this looks like a blast - i need to hit this trail this summer!
awesome video and editing. none if that loud ass music. just rocks crunching under the tires. i'm subbing for this great editing.
Thanks! I appreciate it! - Geoff
Whew. Looks like a little pucker-factor in some spots!
Just a little pucker factor 🤣
@@Colorado4x4 🤣🤣🤣
Wow! Great video. And great driving, especially that dude in the F150.
Thanks!
Looking forward to this Geoff!
Man that off camber at the 9:00 mark! Def need to put this one on the list to do! Drone footage was epic!

Thanks bro!
Great Video and definitely one of my favorite trails... Followed by one of the best views in Colorado!
Thanks Philip! It’s a really great trail! The views are amazing. I also love that there is a whole massive network of connected trails up there - Geoff
"that wasn't bad, was it?" It's never bad until it's really bad. Great video, my palms are sweating just thinking about trying this.

@@Colorado4x4 Thanks, good to know. Someone I wheel with said I should do Black Bear and would be fine, so I guess I should put this on my list.
Black Bear is a must do. It’s spooky but it wasn’t terrible for me. It’s a beautiful trail too. There’s so many great trails out there!

I love the dude wheeling in the F150!
He gets it! He ain’t skeert!!!
Yea,it's one thing in a jeepstee, the footprint of the F 150 much bigger

Amazing! Wow! Hahaha, young Dub dancing!
Thanks Levi! Hahaha. Wyatt loves dancing his soccer celebrations 😂
Beautiful area! Great shots of the views!
Thanks!
Video flattens the trails and even in this video this was steep! I'm sure it was a pucker factor 9.

Wow that shelf road was sketchy! Nice driving!
Thanks!
Nice thanks for making the video. Also suprised with the f150.
Thanks for watching Bob! Todd does an awesome job in his truck. Love wheeling with him - Geoff

nice trail
gave that Ford 1x4 a workout
It’s a fun little trail. Todd rocks it in his F-150!
I think I found the next trail to hit. How far away is it from Sterling?
It’s right by Montezuma which is close to Keystone
How long does it take to get to the top of Radical Hill from the bottom?
It took us about 1.5 hours

Everything breaks, eventually 😝
No lockers is absolutely dumb on a road like that.
Not really
I thought you died?
