The 4 kids weren’t right to attack him altogether but in Baela and Rhaena’s case at least we can understand where they both were coming from. This situation could’ve handed well if Aemond just went like “sorry if it hurts you but Vhagar choose me to be it’s next rider” instead of taunting Rhaena about not having a dragon when he was exactly in her shoes moments ago. Not to mention Rhaena and Baela never did him any harm unlike Aegon and Strong boys. They were both grieving the loss of their mother and suddenly discovers their cousin claiming their mother’s dragon right on the day of her funeral. He went like you should’ve claimed her earlier, like that should be the first concern of the child instead of grieving the loss of a parent?

to clarify, aemond was 1st physically attacked by the entitled 4, who ganged up on him and falsely accused him of stealing the dragon and then started with blows ( he clearly didn't start , they did). 1st twin pushed him, he pushed her back. 2nd one punched him, he punched her back. etc. he was replying in proportion. he didn't use the stone. he just threatened, even took it down when others backed down for a moment in the middle .
Vhagar only accepted Aemond because she thought it was Visenya, Vhagar is already 170 years old.

Aemond claiming Vhagar evokes the kid from Never Ending Story riding Falkor, and just for a brief moment this dark fantasy series becomes a kid’s adventure story. Soon as Vhagar touches down, it literally grounds the setting back into that dark dynastic struggle between the blacks and greens.
It was disappointing, even Daenery's first times riding Drogon felt more glorious and beautiful by comparison, I wish Aemond had kept some of his humbleness.

aemond targaryen claimed the second oldest and biggest dragon in westeros when he was 10 year old. he also held his own against 4 of his cousins and only lost when someone brought out a blade. he’s a baby badass.

Its funny that they were cheering on when Baela punched Aemond then acted surprise when he fought back when it was the kids who jumped on him first. Not to mention clapped when he lose an eye. For everyone’s information, no one owns Vhagar aside from their mother and she is no longer present. Dragons are not heirlooms that these Velaryon kids see that is something to pass on after the death of their family members, dragons choose who are their next rider the same with people with the blood of old valyria can choose and try to mount a dragon of their of own choosing. The only mistake Aemond did here is calling Rhae’s sons bastards (which they are but still a wrong act lol). I mean the he just throw back the pig insult at them because of what Aegon and the boys did to him. The actions after is what became the most problematic as things escalated way to intensely with the rock and the dagger and everything.

Aemond did absolutely nothing wrong. His cousins decided to pick a fight with him, and they still lost. Aemond had every right to defend himself. Just as he had every right to try his luck claiming Vhaegar. Dragons are not inherited after all, they themselves choose their masters.
He literally did everything wrong:
- he and Rhaena had equal chances at claiming the she dragon, and he stole her right at giving it a go by sneaking around at night when everyone was asleep, Why not claim it during the day? oH YEAH because there is another Targaryen with no dragon who might as well claim her.
-It's the same night of Laena's funeral.
-They were having a conversation and he escalated it by bullying the girl telling her to get a pig to ride that's when the physical fight started.
-The blade was drawn after he picked the rock.
- He lost his eye after he hit Jace's head with the rock.

I felt for those girls. First girl didn't even attack him in a way that could hurt him, she just held im tight. Especially in the books. If you read those scenes, you would see things in a different light. Additionally it wasn't a 4v1 from the beginning, they were several 1v1s, two girls were not trained in combat and the boys were much younger, smaller and weaker.

One of the most interesting opening scenes I've ever seen in a show -- and it went on for longer than I expected. It's almost like the viewer was present at the funeral proceedings and was allowed to eavesdrop and meander by all of the sorrow (and awkwardness) that was going on. I quite liked it!
