    Aegon was passed out drunk randomly on the landing of the stairs and his grandfather made sure that he got up and went to bed before anyone noticed. Aegon saying 'Brother?' when Otto wakes him up probably implies that it is his brother, Aemond, who is usually waking him up from a drunken stupor.

      @@sitting_nut Let’s be real theres not such development for Laenor at all. they did not show the connection with Rhaenyra and the kids, they did not show the connection with the family, neither the dragon sufficiently but in his conversation with Rhae he showed care about her and kids and do not forget Daemon has connections in Essos. We do not need to see everything to presume that they were offered a pretty good life to accept that. Now for what I understood Laenor would not be the type who come back with hunger of power and I think he genuinely has a good heart as Rhae says and knows this the best for them and will be away, the boyfriend can be a problem yeah but that does not mean that could be a bad plot though, actually could be very intriguing to see it. Could it be considered selfish to ask that for Laenor ? Yeah but he knows already he not being fair and good for her, he owes her and he knows it and if he stays what are the chances they can change things from now ?? Absolutely none, Alicent and court knows his absence and affair with men and he is just respected because of their marriage, cause pretty sure his not well seen in there, they know the children are not his, all that stuff. Neither his family support him apparently, Corlys just used him as tool for power. If he stays he would only have wine, fancy clothes and hidden love, might as well accept the plan and live freely doing whatever he wants. The only major hole in the writing is about the dragon and I hope they have a reasonable solution for seasmoke future, otherwise make sense what happened and could bring interesting plots.

Even King Jaehaerys, the old king, requested for a dragon for his first born daughter when she was struck with a deadly disease ad they believe it would make her recover from the illness. They started watching House of the Dragon BEFORE watching Game of Thrones. Because they wanted a unique experience of fresh eyes... someone who didn't have any experience of the main show to see if people COULD just jump into this show and be okay and they were. It's was totally fine there are no spoilers in House of the Dragon for the main show because it's a prequel and takes place in the past compared to the show. 🤷‍♀️ So why would they not be able to watch it before watching the main show???? Aemond was never really that nice, he was just bullied and powerless, claiming Vhaegar changed that immediately. They thought Alicent was crazy for asking an eye for an eye not noticing in their epoch that was considered justice, which means is the common thing to ask for. They also said Viserys wouldn't give Aemond some "favoritism" (it wasn't that neither) over Rhaenyra since they both are his children but they said nothing when Viserys said that if someone says Rhaenyra's kids are bastards he'll take their tongues but someone took an eye from his son and he just asked for some apologizes and didn't even care for him (he didn't even check on him or asked him if he was okay). I can understand Alicent. I can understand her anger. Her child is without eye now. Almost blind. And her child needs to apologize. Only because this Viserys's child's mother is Alicent and not Aemma. Viserys married Alicent not because he loved her, he just wanted to have sons. And he had three boys with Alicent. She sacrificed everything for her manipulative, power-hungry father. But since he is her only native person, she cannot push him away, although she understands what kind of person he is. And after all she had done for Viserys she sees that Aemma was and still is his beloved wife and not Alicent. His favorite child was and still is Rhaenyra. Young alicent was definitely a byproduct of her father. But not old alicent. She's making her own decisions now, taking control. We see so with her new dynamic w otto. "I have aegon. We will proceed as I see fit." "I wanted whatever you impressed upon me" she recognizes she was manipulated. Also viserys chose to marry Alicent. If he just wanted sons he could've just as easily married Laena. The whole point of that was to make it clear he's selfish, he knew he had to remarry so he picked the one he wanted. Not the more politically correct option. Young alicent believed her children would be sent to battle to ensure rhaenyras claim, in order to protect them she thought it right to prepare to install her son in rhaes stead. Older alicent crowns her son king and in doing so does exactly what she didn't want to happen to her kids and throws them into a war. When she hears viserys' last words, she hears what she wants to hear. She doesn't misunderstand. She's lying to herself, bc no one in their right mind would believe viserys suddenly changed his mind after 20 years upholding rhaes claim.

He knows that's the honorable thing to do for Rhaenyra and the kids. Rhaenyra didn't hold a grudge against Laenor for not always being there and failing to protect their family. She knows what he's been through and accepts all that he's capable of giving.
    The arrangement at the end with Laenor's death being faked is simply the best way things could have ended with a marriage like theirs. And in a way Rhaenyra was also fulfilling her childhood fantasy of escaping and living a life of freedom through Laenor.

They're talking about Aemond not having a dragon and she starts speaking prophetically about how he will have a dragon, but "first he'll have to close one eye". To be fair to Corlys, Rhaenys is wrong about his pursuit of a Velaryon on the Iron Throne costing them their children. Laena chose Daemon, it was not a political marriage, and she died in childbirth, it had nothing to do with Corlys’s ambition. Plus Laenor isn’t actually dead, and was arguably far happier than he likely would have been if he hadn’t married Rhaenyra, bc he was allowed to pursue male lovers freely. Corlys in my opinion, aside from Lyonel Strong has been by far the most consistent and honorable Lord in the show, and even if now the pursuit of the Crown is out of personal ambition, it probably began as genuinely about getting Rhaenys was she deserves. He truly does seem to love his family, I mean, the way he spoke to Lucerys is probably the nicest anyone has spoken to the boy in the entire show.

  • @riolkin
    @riolkin Рік тому +2

    It's an interesting point by Corlys. If Rhaenyra's kid ascends to the Driftwood Throne and rules Driftmark, he will do so bearing the Velaryon name but not the blood. But if Laena's kid ascends, it will be with true Velaryon blood but with the name of her father, Daemon. Either way, the Velaryon family lose their seat, either by blood or by name. Unless they also convinced Daemon to let Baela take the name Velaryon, but I doubt he would.

    Kinda feel sorry for Aegon. I wasn't expecting this cause I'm team black ( I remember when I was reading the books I was thinking that he's a terrible person and that's it) but looks like he isn't that bad. In fact, he's the victim of his mother's and grandfather's manipulations too. Sure he's a bit cocky and reckless but he's not a bad person, he's just not interested in 'the court things' yet he'll have no choice... In this ep we're starting to see his fall down imo 😔
    He drank so much probably cause he knows that one day he'll have to betray Rheynyra and her kids even if he doesn't want to cause he likes them. He can't be friends with Jace anymore. Viserys is completely mess.. (at this point he drinks a lot of 'the milk of poppy' so it's understandable) It seems like Aegon is separated from his real family and friends and now he has only 'the greens' by his side (even the clothes he wears are always the green- it's so symbolic) where his mother and grandfather treat him like shit. Alicent hit him in the last ep and in this one as well, literally for nothing! He does nothing wrong.. Otto even kicked him- wtf?! 😡
    At this point, he has only his brother left but he had never had a real bond with him as he had with Jace. Now Aegon looks completely lost and unfortunately there is no one around him who really loves him and cares. It's hard to watch how he is treated as a pawn nothing more...

    I'm just happy that the gays are thriving in Pentos (or any free cities). Although, this is a bit tricky coz Rhaena (Daemon's daughter) can potentially claim Sea Smoke (Laenor's dragon). But Dragons and their riders are not a simple duo. The bond between those are deep. Dragons, theoretically can feel what's bothering their riders (remember the time when Daemon got hit by an arrow on the shoulders and Caraxes also felt the pain?). You can see Vhagar is still mourning her rider Laena (Vhagar is a she-dragon) but as you can see, with Laena being dead, Vhagar allowed Aemond to be her new rider (with a few challenges to know if he was worthy of her). On Laenor's case, well he's alive. And if he's alive then it won't be easy for Rhaena to claim Sea Smoke. .

    • @jaderrdragonlover764
      @jaderrdragonlover764 Рік тому +1

      I was thinking about that also. If the bond is so strong how can Rhaena claim his dragon. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that he gave up his name, title, home and walked away. Could the dragon feel that he gave up on who he was and feel free to be claimed again?

    Late to the party but I thought you might find this interesting. The queen’s daughter (Helena) is able to foresee the future. It’s a skill she doesn’t realize but she’s a “Dreamer”. Couple of examples: when the Queen was telling Daemon he would one day have a dragon you hear Helena say “you’ll have to close an eye” talking to her insect. In this episode she says something about sowing black and green referring to the two rival clans. Whether they develop this ability of hers in the series I don’t know but it’s worth paying attention when she says something.

Lets take out all the wrong they've done prior to this episode.
