    *marry her at 19
Also arguably, Rhaenyra’s not wrong that her life would’ve been better if Daemon had at least stayed. Even if they didn’t marry, if Daemon had stayed and had an affair with her, her children would’ve been all 100% Targaryen (what’s Alicent gonna do, complain they’re too Targ?). Daemon’s presence in KL would’ve also push back Alicent’s influence and kept the Greens in check because they’re scared shitless of him.

This episode adds evidence that Helaena, Alicent's daughter, carries the Targaryen gift for Dreaming. Last episode, while she was playing with the millipede, Alicent and Aemond were talking about when he might get a dragon of his own, and Helaena offhandedly muttered "first he must close an eye." Now, we see that the claiming of Vhaegar cost Aemond his left eye, fulfilling the prophecy. Helaena also muttered in that same scene that "the last ring has no legs," which may refer to the last KING having no legs (Bran) or that someone in this series will lose their legs. In this episode, she muttered another prophecy while playing with the spider that Clarus was having none of:
"Hand turns loom. Spool of green, spool of black. Dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread."
We're already getting implications that the "green" tends to refer to Alicent's side of things, and that "black" is associated with Rhaenyra and her loyalists. Dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread might be a fancy way of saying that Targaryens (dragons of flesh) are weaving dragons of thread (war banners), and that it's all being orchestrated by the "H/hand" that turns the loom. A lot of this rests at the feet of Otto Hightower for manipulating Alicent.
I'm keeping my eye on Helaena as things continue. She seems to be full of foreshadowing spoilers.

Leanor dies in the books, in 120 AC, same year as his sister. This year was called the Year of the Red Spring, because there are so many deaths. There are different versions : it is believed his lover Ser Qarl killed him or Daemon had a part in his death.

Thing is that the book is written from the perspective on an unreliable narrator with their own biases who's main sources are also unreliable narrators. So essentially the show has some leeway and is using divergences from the book to show us more about the book narrator's (a maester) biases

I absolutely love that as soon as Daemon says "with witnesses", Nerdy starts to get what's happening immediately!! ❤I was more like Clarus, faking Laenor's death crossed my mind briefly but, I didn't really get that's actually what they were doing until Laenor's reveal at the end.
And, just to be clear, Rhaenyra was not 15 when she got married or when she made out with Daemon in the brothel. I'm not entirely sure why multiple people have gotten confused over her age at that point in the story (maybe it has to do with changes they made from the book) but, Rhaenyra is only 14-15 in the very first episode. Because of the time jumps, by the time we get to the episode where Daemon takes Rhaenyra to the brothel, it's been 4 years since she last saw him (which is, actually, stated in the episode itself). That makes Rhaenyra 18 years old at the absolute youngest at that point. Though she's more likely 19, since I think she's specifically stated to be 15 by episode 2 when she and Daemon have their stand-off on the bridge. So when Daemon & Rhaenyra refer to her as being a "child" in this episode, they don't mean literally "underage" from a modern perspective. They just mean that she was very young in a more general sense. As a sheltered 18-19 year old, she was a "child" in comparison to Daemon at the time and to both of them now. It's like a 35 year old calling a 20 year old a "baby" (it's not literal).

If I was the Queen the King would’ve had to deal with a lot more. When Viserys is raging at Aegon (great acting by Paddy Constantine btw) and you can clearly tell the boy is shaken inside. But if you view the actions of Alicent and Rhaenyra without the framing neither one has actually acted too unreasonable for the situation they are in. • @liability6661

idk i think even without the framing Alicent's side is mostly unreasonable. Its unreasonable in a political sense because Viserys already named Rhaenyra heir, and the whole male before female succession was only tradition and not the law. The King's word and decision are law in an absolute monarchy like the 7 kingdoms. Its also unreasonable in a personal sense which is shown in this episode in Alicent's dialog with Rhaenyra, where it is clear that it is mostly because of bitterness, jealousy, and some paranoia about Rhaenyra murdering her children. Rhaenyra had no problems with Aegon until Alicent and Otto poisoned his mind against Rhaenyra. Alicent is also kind of a hypocrite for saying Rhaenyra keeps getting away with things while she and Criston keep getting away with a lot of shit like undermining Viserys' authority, harming the heir, etc. with little to no punishment. Rhaenyra's reckless and a bit of a rule breaker like Daemon and a lot of other highborns but that's about it, she doesn't get really bad until the Greens push her to her limits.

This episode felt like those family Christmas’ where all families involved were pretty much forced to be there by their grandparents and try and “get along” till they all leave.
The only things that’s always confused me since her kids were introduced is why they were so different from Allicent’s. In this series I could understand a bit due to the Leanor being a mixed character.
Unless theirs something I don’t know, does it have to be a male Valyrian to make white hair or something? Cause either way both parties technically had a Valyrian in the bloodline. Still a REALLY good first season so far, and even without a lot of action, one of my favorite episodes.

The only reason Rhaenyra's kids look different than Allicent's is really just bad luck on Rhaenyra's part. The Strong genes are obviously quite... strong (😆) and his kids ended up looking more like him. They could have easily ended up looking more like Rhaenyra with white hair and no one would have suspected but, she wasn't that lucky. Likewise, Allicent's kids could easily have ended up with her darker hair, as well. They just didn't. 'Cause, just like in life, genetics can be funny sometimes.

The wedding between Rhaenyra and Daemon was small scale because it certainly wouldn't have had support - Viserys never liked the idea of that match but also it's been basically no time since both of their previous marriages ended tragically. 3:01 5 Dragons: The Yellow one flying is Rhaenyra's Syrax (Seen in Episodes 1 and 2), the others flying are Damon's Caraxes and Rhaenys Targaryen's Meleys (Mother of Laenor and Laena) but I think it's actually Helaena Targaryen's Dreamfire ( Daughter of Viserys and Alicent). The gray one on the ground is Laenor's Seasmoke (seen in battle in episode 3) and the yellow one on the ground is Aegon's Sunfire.

That’s Aegon’s “the Prince will remember that little Lord” moment. Aemond taming Vhagar & holding his own in a 1v4 makes him the real chad in my eyes. Only wholesome moment, our Prince resting his head on his mom’s shoulder to let her know she can depend on him. Last but not least, GOATTO Hightower says “in time you and I together will prevail” and I’m the meme of Homer Simpson decked out in a green tee, sitting on green cushions, wearing a Hightower snapback, holding a Go Greens flag with a Alicent poster on the wall😂. Larys literally killed his father The Hand of the King, so Alicent would bring her father back as Hand.
Daemon laugh because the Uncle’s eulogy was throwing shade at Rhaenyra and the kids.
Whe Alicent was asking Rhaenyra about her night out, she made the remark about Targaryens marrying amongst each other, with disgust, just to then marry her two kids to each other, a true hypocrite.
Daemon is mad at Viserys because he allowed Otto to get in between them and tore them apart. All Daemon wanted was to be near his brother, help him rule as his hand and protect him. Now all these years have gone by and it’s too late.
Rhaenyra makes her move on Daemon quickly, because she doesn’t have too much time; any moment he could just leave and be gone for another ten years.
For those who keep saying that Rhaenyra had power over Crispin when they slept together, here Crispin proves that he can say no when the request is unethical.
And the best reveal, Alicent admitting she is just jealous of Rhaenyra because she found a better way than Alicent to exist in their sexist world. Bitter much. Ironically, by saying it out loud and facing Rhaenyra, it is almost like they finally had the conversation they should have had years ago, maybe they would have vented and made up, but now lines were crossed.
In the end, Alicent is always bitching how she sacrificed so much, Rhaenyra has also sacrificed, it just has been different kinds. This obsession with the sexual activity of Rhaenyra, like if that was what makes you or breaks you as a person, shame on Alicent and all the people that think like her.

There definitely was a power imbalance between Criston and Rhaenyra. It's literally because of her that he has any kind of status and position and at the time he had no other allies at court so if he had angered her he doesn't know if he could keep his position, and in this specific episode he also had witnesses so he doesn't even have the chance to do anything wrong. This isn't to defend him though, if he cared as much about his honour as he claims he would have still refused Rhaenyra, even if it meant being thrown out of King's Landing.
I also don't actually think Rhaenyra would have done anything to Criston if he really had refused but I don't think you can deny that there was a power imbalance.

Well, about the last one: I think you can't compare that to our real world where thinking like that is really stupid, but in their world everyone has their roles and duties and women are judged a lot more than men in the sexual matter. As they said, the King can have a lot of bastards and that won't be a problem, but the Queen can't, because then she won't have any honor left. And is supposed that the princess needs to mary with her "honor intact". Rahenyra avoided all of that and her father keeps covering everything. But Alycent has been doing what everyone expected of her, and yet she feels that has no power and nobody has respect for her...

Daemon and Rhaenyra's wedding was small and private because they know that it was already an insult to Laena and Laenor's memory as it was done shortly after their deaths. Having a big traditional wedding would have been seen by the realm as a bigger insult.

For everyone that cheered at the ending because Laenor gets to go and live his life, don’t forget that someone else was murdered in order to make this happen. This is not something to celebrate.

Someone had to die... It was either Laenor, a character we come to appreciate greatly or an extra...

In the book Laenor dies because his lover kills him, because the rumors are spread that Laenor had sex with lots of guys. Laenor died and Seasmoke gets riderless, which is important for a later moment in the story. But now in the show, Laenor gets away alive so basically Seasmoke still has him as his rider. So I'm curious how they will handle this, maybe Laenor will come back and die at a later point in the show.

In 99% of the kingdoms she would have been beheaded for harming the heir to the throne

If Daemon was really smart, he'd have headed out with Caraxes and burned that ship with Carl and Leanor and all aboard so there would be no survivors, so Leanor would never be found alive to render any children of Daemon's marriage to Rhaenyra illegitimate...But I don't think that will happen.

Fyi they didn't film Alicent's wedding, just her preparing for it!

In the books Lucerys was 5 years old when that fight took place and Aemond was about 10 I think. But I think they aged up the kids a bit here. Lucerys appears to be about 7 or 8 years old here and Jace looks to be about 10 or 11 while Aemond looks about 12 or 13. Joffrey should've also been in this fight but he's still a baby in the show. In the books it was a 3 year-old Joffrey who caught Aemond trying to steal Vhagar and got kicked into a pile of dragon poop by Aemond so he goes and call his older brothers and when Aemond returns the fight broke out. Daemon's girls were not involved in this fight in the books. It was strictly between the Velaryon boys and Aemond.

After reading the book, I came into this not liking Alicent and her children, but after seeing all this absurd hate for Alicent, starting to be a supporter.

18:45 Episode 7 is an outstanding episode. Great writing. Aemond riding Vhagar and claiming Vhagar for himself was arrogant and disrespectful towards Laena. 15:59 Aemond becomes One-Eyed Dick.
