the way we do the body mount chop in my shop is to pie cut out the space you don't need then fold back the outer piece with a hammer and weld it back up
He would need a subframe drop cradle lift or sas to clear the 40s completely. As for the 35s he swapped rims back to the old ones and has zero rubbing.

What size lift is this?
I believe 2.5 or 3in.
