    Ok. I watched again and went and look at the liner and I see what you did. I ordered the plates today, got a Black Friday discount. Thanks!

      I’ve been trying to spread the word and #savethepinchwelds. That’s alright since it’s done, just make sure that it is sealed up very well if you did cut it. Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻

    I like this take on it, I plan on doing this mod over the weekend for 33s and don't want to cut a big hole in the plastic like most poeple do. Definitely going to do a similar job. Nice work!

      Thanks! I’m trying to start a revolution in the Tacoma world by #savethepinchwelds. Unfortunately, you can’t take it back once you cut it. I appreciate you watching 🤘🏻

    Well done, I like the way you pushed the pinch weld in instead of just smashing it! Can't wait to see the 35's on your truck, how you have to trim the rear of your front wheel opening and attach the liner where you trim. You may have to trim the complete fender flares, but I'm sure you will do it as clean as the rest of your truck!
    I'm thinking of upgrading from 33's to 34's next year when I need to replace tires.

      Thank you! I did not want to see the notches in the pinch weld. I’m happy with it!
      I’m hoping I clearances enough but if not I’m willing to cut more lol. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
      Go for the bigger tires! 🤘🏻

      @@TacomaDad can I hire you to do this on my truck...lol...I only went with a 285/75/16 on factory wheels with 1.5 spacer and a Rough Country leveling strut and mine is rubbing bad...my tire is only 32.8 so I wasn't expecting this much rub.

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому

      Sure! I might be pretty far from you though 😂
      You might be able to get away with new upper control arms and pushing the caster forward. If not a shop should be able to do this pretty quick as well!

      @@TacomaDad 4W Parts in Charlotte NC is doing it on 9/4.. do you think it will solve my problem... I'm mostly worried that when I back in to launch my jet skis from the boat ramp that it's gonna run bc while reversing is when it runs? Thanks

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому +1

      The most common rub area is the body mount and pinchweld. If they are taking care of both of those areas you should be good. If it still rubs after that, you may be able to get away with a heat gun on the inner fender liner, where it rubs at.

      Thanks for watching! Folding the pinchweld is much better than having it all chopped up with the potential to rust in the future

    This looks great! What screws did you use for screwing the liner back into the pinch weld?

      Honestly, I had to go back and see what size they were 🤣 trucks been through so many tires. Currently on 37s
      In the video they are the 265 75s

    Great job! Did you heat up the pinch weld before bending it back? And I assume you then screwed the fender liner to the pinch weld tab?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому +1

      I did not heat it up. The metal is soft at the top then it gets thicker lower. So a 3lb hammer is what I used to bend it. Yes the screw is attached to the pinch weld.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @tompatterson436
    @tompatterson436 4 роки тому +2

    Maybe a dumb question. How did you bend the pinch weld? Pound it over with a big hammer?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому +1

      No dumb questions here!
      You literally have to put some force behind the hammer. I used a 3lb sledge. The bottom 10-12” is thick and hard to bend, the top part 6ish inches is easier to manipulate.

    pumped to see your 35s. which tire and size did you order?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому

      I grabbed a set of Kenda Klever r/ts. They are 35 10.50 17s.
      Had a set on a Jeep years ago and loved the tire. Figured why not try a set on the truck? Plus as far as I know the only ones who sell a 10.50 wide 35”

    Any issues with water? leaking? Did you have to seal it? Rust?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому +1

      No issues with water. It still has the holes in the bottom so if water gets in there it will come out. I did sand it down and painted it with rustoleum to prevent rust.

  • @chrismumford7295
    @chrismumford7295 4 роки тому +1

    Is it possible to hammer the pinch weld over with tire left on?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому

      I wouldn’t imagine so. Even with the tire turned the opposite way, it doesn’t give you enough room to swing the hammer.
      The pinchweld is like this:
      Top- soft, almost bend with your fingers
      Middle- stiffer but fairly easy to bend
      Bottom- gonna have to swing that hammer with some effort cause the metal is thick.
      You need all the room you can get for sure. Hope that helps!

  • @tompatterson436
    @tompatterson436 4 роки тому +1

    I have another question. With the pinch weld down, did you just use a heat gun to remold the bump in the liner?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому

      I actually did not do anything to the liner except trim it to follow the curve of the inside of the wheel well.

  • @onelik

    Are the 35’s going on with stock suspension?

    • @TacomaDad
      @TacomaDad  4 роки тому +1

      Not completely stock. I did install 6112s and icon ext travel shocks in the rear (block spacer on leaf spring is still there) so roughly 2-2.5” lift.
