The fact that the creators had the creativity to add a pied-piper reference and added hidden names of demons in the game is incredible. You can see exactly how much effort they put into the game, from a small 10 minute gameplay to a whole hour of gameplay full of LORE! Honestly, I don't think I could've thought of a game with as much creativity and lore as this.
With Bael, Paimon and Balam getting named dropped it leaves me with two questions 1 how do the other demon kings fit into the story and 2 who between Bael and Balam are speaking to Rebecca in the headphones
The idea that Wooly could be Sam also sounds plausible due to his behavior in the farm video too. When Amanda calls Wooly a sheep or an animal, he usually looks really surprised to receive that information. He is also caught off guard when you use the word “Sam” instead of “Rooster” for the chicken bit, like he immediately knew that name and was wondering how you found it.
The more cursed the tapes get, the more real imagery for the backgrounds are shown, proving that Amanda/Rebecca is getting closer to reality. In the first version, when searching for treasure, the background starts to become realistic, and when the whole rotting episode is playing, the scenery becomes more realistic and there’s a point where Wooly and Amanda’s voices get weird. Also, in the first game, Woolie (remember, different name than now) says he’s allergic to apples. In the picnic scene and pie scene, apples are all around him and he doesn’t even flinch. Wooly also has ears in the later versions, but in the early versions, he does not. Amanda probably killed him and then went to the petting zoo and got a new sheep as Wooly starts to get dehumanized when going there.
That would make sense as I was questioning that too as I remember Wookiee saying he is allergic to apples in the first game. This could also be why during the farm tape going to the sheep pen it’s fully of dead sheep bodies and Woolie turns back to a sheep on four legs and not talking
there's a secret tape in the full version of the game which includes the moment where he says hes allergic to apples. My theory is that the episodes go differently depending on what Amanda decides to change. She wants to make the apple pie so as she gains more control she changes what wooly says
I think Wooly is the demon, trying to keep Amanda on-script so they can keep the kidnappings going. I mean, the "Demon Amanda" that comes out to kill you has wool over her eyes, and in the "Don't help the kitten" ending, we see that happen. The entire background is gone except the Woolie model, though only limbs and a head, because his wool is infecting Amanda so she can attack.
@@dronz3881 thats unlikely because wooly is trying to keep amanda calm and not have murderous thoughts, which seems like the exact opposite of what the demon wants amanda to do. About the demon model, the wool is an interesting thing to point out but those could just be eyes and the demon has amanda's hair. The eyes do definitely look like wool and wooly's lack of wool in that tape does seem to connect so maybe the demon possesses both? Lastly, in the tape where Rebeca is chanting the names of the demons pretty much confirms that Rebeca (AKA Amanda) is possessed by the demon so it wouldn't make much sense for the demon to be in another body like wooly. The demon would have to be possessing the game instead which isn't implied in the game at all.
I saw a comment on another video pointing out the intro without wooly (the last coloring book tape), there's no intro music like all the others. instead, it's Amanda singing the intro music. no clue if it's anything at all but I found it interesting
@@IllegalCheeseCake. lots of parents were starting to not let their kids watch the show because the subject matter was getting weird, so I can understand why an employee would try to keep that type of content off the show. they want to reach as many kids as possible, cant do that when parents are shutting the television off
That orange tape is genuinely such a well crafted moment of horror. It gives me serious goosebumps. Rather than something new and horrifying appearing to scare you, the fear comes from something familiar and important disappearing. Absolutely genius
The only thing I probably disagree about his theory is that Wooly is Sam. I see where you’re going with it, but judging by the some scenes, Wooly is definitely not the innocent one. When Amanda talks about something dark in the tapes, Wooly tries to change the subject, leading her off the track that she’s Rebecca. That seems to me like he’s trying to keep her from remembering who she is, not helping her calm down. Also, it’s only when Wooly gets killed off in the end when Amanda says “she’s out there”. That’s because he isn’t there anymore to manipulate her anymore. With Wooly gone, she can think for herself and realize who she is.
Personally, I think Wooly is a stand-in for the execs at Hamln. Whenever Amanda (Rebecca) breaks character and starts thinking about topics outside the script, Wooly will try and distract her and get her back on track. He doesn't want her to go off the beaten path, so he shuts her up. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing, trying to pull the wool over the player's eyes. Amanda DOES, however, occasionally snap back and silence Wooly. It's only when Amanda overpowers Wooly and takes him out (and turns him into sausage...) that she feels safe sharing her secret with the player. Alternatively, she only asks the player to help the lonely kitten after Wooly is out of her ear
I’m sharing the same opinion on wooly! I also think he is trying to keep the show appropriate so that the parents will let their children keep watching the show, after all they want the kids😭
I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH THIS OHH MY GOD. wooly is definitely not what he seems. from the early tapes wooly is constantly trying to keep amanda in check acting as the more sensible and trustworthy character, i feel like wooly is actively trying to manipulate the perception the viewers have of him to maintain a trust of his word over amanda's. whenever amanda becomes self-aware, remembering her past, uncovering the truth, ETCCC wooly is constantly shutting her down, saying she is confused, and replacing her memories and thoughts with HIM as a distraction to whats really happening. only when wooly cannot interfere does amanda actually open up to the viewer. at some point in one of the tapes, wooly asks the viewer if they trust him, before amanda interrupts claiming wooly is sick in the head and giving him an (assumably) drugged drink, urging him to drink it by saying "it's all just pretend, isnt it wooly?" AND THIS SENTENCE SPECIFICALLY STOOD OUT TO ME because after amanda takes him into the operating room and knocks wooly unconscious, she shushes him and says it'll all be okay?? i feel like this is definitely learned behavior from some sort of abuse rebecca endured from hameln that wooly is desperately trying to make amanda forget. amanda definitely has rebecca's soul and is being shut out of her own memories and real self because wooly's only purpose is to conceal the truth from her for hameln to lure more children sacrifices with the show. BUT IDK THATS JUST MY INTERPRETATION
More evidence to this is that in the baking pie scene from tape 1, Amanda holds a knife and wooly tells her that they should have an adult or Amanda’s parents cut the apples with the knife. Amanda then responds with “I’m not sure where they are right now”.
@@maliketh9220nah i think the barn gets worried or scared of what you said, as if your playing with her and the barn is scaref of what she'll do if she gets mad or smth like that
Matpat I know some lore to share U know when Amanda said "I'm out there... somewhere" it links to the part when she said "sometimes I feel rotting but it feels far away" meaning Amanda is rotting out there I might know where. Before this version of the game came out there was a demo,in that demo it had a tape that tape had map or a location so that must mean that Amanda or Rebecca body is there Another piece of lore is Amanda can't get out in a human form only in her demonic form because her actual body is dying/rotting
I've got more LORE to share If you type Sam when you play the petting zoo tape the cabin stares directly at you so probably the cabin is Sam and the demon is torturing him for trying to ruin its plans.
Fun fact: if you turn and walk to your left from spawn you will find a pile of books with one of them having a secret message that I’ve decoded to say “who is wooly” which furthermore proves that wooly isn’t just some sheep
I feel like Sam isn't exactly Wooly, because in the farm scene where Amanda asks what the father chicken is called, if you type sam, the barn in the background looks directly at you. And it really looks like that barn knows whats all going on, seeing as it's not at all like the other objects with eyes on them. Heavily breathing, eyes bloodshot, and in pure torment
EXACTLY I THINK SAM IS THE BARN IT WOULD MAKE SM SENSE because if they were going to trap Sam there, It would make more sense to trap him in something that CANNOT talk over something that can say or do whatever they want like Wooly
There's an easteregg where if you type in a specific name, Wooly says something, i can't remember what, i think it was during the scene where you address the parcel
I think Sam is the guy who bursts into the room at one of the endings. Woolie is a handler placed in the show to keep the demons on script. They need to keep children saying demon names along with Amanda during the response portions of the show.
I agree, the fact that the model has a very similar skintone to Sam is a very interesting detail for the developers to include, and I think it would be a unique plot twist for Sam to actually be alive, and now he's finally found someone who is able to help save his daughter.
There was also a credit scene that stated containment specialist, that could be wooly, as well as the books around the room having decodeable titles, one of them stated who is wooly? And I think another was something along the lines of can wooly be trusted
That would explain why Amanda's always trying to talk about uncomfortable subjects, she wants to get the parents attention so they stop they're kids from watching the show, meanwhile Wooly is always trying to stop her so more kids watch
Just had a random thought- In the barn animals tape, when Amanda calls woolie a sheep and he looks offended- If we're following this theory I feel like that could be Amanda calling woolie -aka her dad- a follower and basically "calling him out" for allowing Amanda to be put in the show until it was far too late to turn back I dunno, just an idea
I think Wooly is actually someone from Hamlen, trying to make sure Rebecca doesn’t do anything or think anything like “I feel myself rotting”, thats why he says “Nothing is rotten here” afterwards. He also looked very disappointed when Amanda mails the package to Kate, and if Amanda was trying to ask or give help to Kate in that moment, it would make sense for Wooly to be from Hamlen.
There is one last tape GT didn't mention here, and that's the one of a Wooly solo spin-off program where it is eleven uninterrupted minutes of Wooly sitting mostly silent and idle. Whoever or whatever "Wooly" is, he does not have the ability--or maybe the desire--to perform on his own. This could lend credence to either your hypothesis or even GT's; if Wooly is Sam, then Sam is sitting silently because he refuses to dance for Hameln, but if Wooly is a Hameln employee, then the poor schmuck has no clue what to do on his own because he only knows how to placate Amanda/Rebecca.
He seems mostly afraid of Amanda, like he wants to prevent things but also he's won't dare step too far out of line while she's around. His character is a mystery to me
I don't think Sam is Wooly, instead I think Sam is the Mysterious Stranger that you see in the secret ending. They only assumed Sam was killed because he had been missing for so long but they also report that "No Body was ever recovered"
@@Hitomora i also thought the mysterious stranger was Sam, and Wooly is a employee from Hamlen trying to keep Amanda under their control, cuz Amanda is a host to a demon, she can lose control over her actions
@@ionutnertan This would make sense because wooly was probably not in the live action because he is a sheep and unless sam's low budget went up or they used a puppet i don't think he could get a sheep in the show so wooly was most likely put in the show by hameln to keep her in check and stop her from asking for help
Something to add as a metaphysics and demonolgy researcher: In many summoning rituals you have to invoke the name of the entity THREE TIMES just as Rebecca does in the recording session at 9:45
@@prep_girl Totally, Matpat is great too his voice sent chill down my spine. The whole theorist team are doing amazing. I love how much game channel has grown.
I think wooly is an agent from hameln. There were other neighbors in the tapes in front of the store that amanda killed which are probably agents too. When amanda was trying to make wooly drink a toxin, she said "it's all just pretend isnt it wooly". And when they were at the barn the reason wooly was turning back into a normal sheep was because of the thunderstorm disrupting the signal between the agent and wooly's character
but if it’s an agent from hameln, an evil company that’s doing all this demonic stuff, why would wooly be trying to stop all the bad things that amanda is doing, when the company is the one trying to make that happen?
I've also heard a theory that the Amanda monster's eyes are actually a mask made of wool. It could either be Amanda getting the proverbial wool over her eyes, or maybe it's Wooly trying to inhibit the monster and/or Hamlin.
In the "Don't help the kitten" ending, we see that happen. The entire background is gone except the Woolie model, though only limbs and a head, because his wool is infecting Amanda so she can attack.
Idk there’s just too many things wooly does that doesn’t align with him being Rebecca’s father. Asking children to come back to the neighborhood even though the only reason kids go to the neighborhood is by being taken, always forcing Amanda not to call for help, always forcing Amanda to forget her past none of this seems fatherly
@@babylemmonade If you play the game, you can see Amanda in emotional distress and desperation to escape her situation when she isn’t possessed by the demon.
@@troin3925so like a two-souls-one-body situation? I think that’s an amazing idea, and I love any sort of media with that, unless it’s Fanon Undertale, cuz sans.
@@troin3925 fanon sans is stupidly fleshed out in a bad way. Canon sans, the one we see in undertale is amazing, but fanon, the one from the fandom and the UT music videos, no thanks.
it is hinted that rebecca's mother was a cannibal and saw her mom eat one of her siblings when sam talks about how she had a rough past and at the farm she talks about how "some mommies eat their babies"
I hope this helps you with something: i do remember in my playthrough that i accident dropped what i assumed to be a strawberry and entered the puzzle, the strawberry got glitched (more like a tv static) and disappeared leaving me to assume that once you put in the tape you enters the realm of it Just a theory! A GAME THEORY
Wooly really feels like he’s trying to help Amanda despite not being mentally mature either. It feels like he escaped becoming a monster. He tried to save Amanda
Yeah like he was trying to make her feel better when he did the whole “psst, it’s my birthday today!” thing and helped her feel better It reminds me of a way a kid would help another kid, so your idea isn’t a stretch
I commented a theory I had about Wooly being Sam Colton, which makes sense to me based off of movies and literature about stuff surrounding demonic natured things
I believe this Pied Piper connection is what is going to really crack this game's lore open. It's heavily implying that the Amanda tapes are luring/hypnotizing kids to somehow off themselves, like the pied piper and the kids in the story. The new question is figuring out what role Rebecca plays in all this. Is the controlling it? Or is she a victim of this demon too?
When Amanda is screaming "won't you help the lonely kitten?!" in the worst ending, watch Wooly's model as everything starts distorting. First, he looks terrified as Amanda starts levitating, and then he changes into a model of a man wearing a green shirt before the static takes over the screen.
@@HitTheFloor16actually, that's not even a sexuality flag, it's the non binary flag you brainless flea, stop being rude to them and go do something better in with your life
I feel like there's one bit of symbolism in the game that can't be ignored. When Amanda turns into the monster, those white dots on her face aren't eyes. They're WOOL. So someone is "pulling the wool over her eyes", keeping her from knowing the truth. Surely that isn't just a coincidence.
Are they really wool? If you look closer on the monster form it's more like imbedded in. well it could be still symbolized as pulling the wool over her eyes
has anyone looked into the meanings of the names of rebecca and amanda? it was really interesting amanda: worthy of love, loveable rebecca: to bind or tie
I feel like Wooly is part of Hamelin, and is there to watch over Amanda/Rebecca to make sure the program is going as it’s supposed to, and act as her “friend”. I feel like the reason Rebecca feels so alone is because Sam is gone, and it doesn’t make sense why Rebecca would be so hostile towards her dad who she seems to miss (the rooster scene from the farm). I think the guy in the red jacket in the final true ending might be Sam
I dont think wooly is the father too!, as you can see at the end of the game (when you find all the tapes) u are met with a unknown figure with a red coat we dont know who this guy might be but this all points out to being someone that really knows about all this stuff from afar someone that has made research about all of this and really knows about the behind scenes and wants to stop it its the father, maybe instead of killing the father off they missed, and sam managed to escape, he couldnt appear in broadlight again for so long thanks for the company (hamlen) looking out for him and try to kill him off again,so he only appears when its rlly needed (when riley finds all the truth and the tapes) thats when he needed to intervene and help riley to find his daughter.
There is a chance she or Wooly don’t fully remember everything or that Rebecca is unaware of Wooly’s true identity; while Wooly is either unable or too ashamed to reveal who he is.
@@theredsir869 the problem with that is, wooly isn't acting like amanda would and instead trying to keep amanda at bay with specific things, even when you mention the fathers name or try and break the game, wooly always seems to be shocked, or shaking hes head at the viewer. if it was the father, he would also be having second thoughts with stuff/questioning just like amanda.
there was this one tape with wooly in the room, in that secret tape, he was smiliing, chilling, not like he wants to break out, happy, if he was the father, he would be stressed/not patient or any other emotion apart from happy and not leaning on hes chair in the tape.
i'm surprised mat didn't talk about the book with the encoded message in the bookshelf. Using the symbols that appeared in the demo, you can decode the book and it says "who is wooly?". I honestly don't think Sam is wooly, although it makes sense. It just feels like the game has wooly as one of the bigger mysteries yet to be solved and I don't see why Amanda would be so hostile towards Wooly, it feels like Gregory's hatred towards the glam animatronics. It does explain why Wooly is so patient with her though.
Personally I think apply is the one keeping Amanda trapped in their. He’s employed by heimlin as a seemingly innocent sheep to make sure Amanda doesn’t escape. I also think his role as a sheep falls in line with the idea of a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”
Also notice how Wooly at the farm seemed shocked to realize he was a sheep when she talk about him making an animal noise, also when he seems to peer in our direction and looks shocked again like he just looked into a mirror. Or the screen's reflection.
I don't think wooly is Amanda's dad, she clearly hates him. Amanda keeps talking about unpleasant subjects most likely to get parents attention and make kids stop watching the show, Wooly on the other hand is trying to stop her and even says "nothing is rotten" like he's trying to gaslight her. Not to mention her monster form with wool covering the eyes- its literally "pulling the wool over her eyes" I think he's ment to be the "wolf in sheep's clothing" pretending everything is fine so they can lure in more children
While I do agree that Wooly isn't Sam Colton, I could see the argument for it. A child gets angry at their father for his mistake, believing that it is the father who is hurting them. Thus, the animosity towards Wooly. Rebecca thinks her dad betrayed her, so she takes out all her anger on him. Personally, I think Wooly is meant to be the Containment Specialist or a lesser daemon put in charge.
Yeah I actually agree that wooly isn't sam, because he acts like a brother to her. (Yes I know, Amanda/ Rebecca doesn't have a brother) tbh it's still not clear what's wooly's identity. But let me say something about the demon eyes that looks like wool. I don't think the eyes are covered in wool, because when she has a breakdown about Riley not helping the kitten (which represents Rebecca), she gets closer to the screen when we see Amanda has the eyes, and you can see there are slightly white pupils. Now I wanna talk about th ending where you agree to help the lonely kitten, what I think when we agree to help her. She starts smiling very creepily, which actually leads to the meat ending. I believe that Hamlin production was in control of Amanda at that moment, and I believe the demon who trapped Amanda and the other souls in the show, lured Riley and turned them into meat, just like how mat mentioned that the whole game is based of the piped piper story. Now that's just my opinion, what do you think ?
I think Wooly is someone from Hamelin, like a researcher or handler. Like you said, Wooly is constantly trying to keep Amanda on track, but in one of the secret tapes, Wooly sits in an interrogation room, silent and calm. For an entire 10 minutes. Until he gets an idea at the end, but quickly changes his mind, as if he knew his idea wouldn't work. To me, this feels like one of two things. 1. A researcher waiting for their test subject to enter so they can begin the experiment. 2. Someone from Hamelin Studio who is trying to think of an episode's script, but can't without Amanda's creative input.
I personally thought of it more as woolly being an employee of hameln trying to keep her calm/silence her, because in the original non-cursed delivery type tape, the name on the card is “Kate”. I think this means that Kate is more important than you thought, and that hameln is trying to get Rebecca to forget about her.
Theory: In the tape of Wooly’s birthday, I feel like Wooly was taking control. I saw this in the part that Amanda is contemplating what her friend is going to be doing by saying “My friend is..” She then says that her friend is having a brithday party just like what wooly wanted her to say.
One question regarding the idea of Sam being Wooly. In the farm episode, responding with "Sam" in the question about the rooster leads to Amanda asking how you knew his name, before abruptly cutting off and spawning a secret tape behind the player. Apart from Wooly looking at the player shocked, the only other character on screen to also react is the Barn in the background, who turns to look at the screen before the tape cuts. What does this mean about the barn (who is not just the only prop with their eyes to be more realistic-looking but also appears to be breathing), and does this throw the identity of Sam back into the air?
I think I speak for everyone who loves his game: 1) We need a few more tapes and puzzles for added lore depth within the game 2) This “show” needs to have its own UA-cam channel with added episodes for full “horror” and breaking the 4th wall effect 3) THIS NEEDS TO BE A FULL CONSOLE GAME
The idea of a MatPat hiding in your closet is the funniest thing to me. Just imagine you go into your closet to get a shirt and MatPat is just standing there and goes "HELLO AND WELCOME TO ANOTHER GAME THE-" and you shut the door before he can finish.
I mean he is technically in a closet because he records in, and back then he did make jokes about him recording in a closet soooooo him joking about being in your č/øßę? Is not really surprising
14:38 Was honestly kinda suspicious of Wooly at this part. He's only ever spoken directly to us when trying to stop us from playing the game, so why is he now asking us to play along with Amanda? But if your theory is right then it kinda makes sense that Sam doesn't want his daughter to become that monster. If it isn't than Wooly might just be trying to keep Amanda calm so she doesn't take her frustration out on him. Another thing that feels like an important detail is Sam's line of 'And despite what [Rebecca]'s gone through' during the interview tape. What did he mean by that? Is he just referring to being a foster kid or did something happen to Rebecca? Could this incident have something to do with why Hameln wants her specifically?
it could be that Amanda/ Rebeca are the split personalities, one was twisted into a human in demon form lashing out at everyone, while the other desperately tries to keep the rage filled demon at bay. just a theory that I just now thought of.
As soon as I heard "bye yell" and "pie man" I knew where the rest of the theory was going. Always nice to reach the same conclusion as Matpat before he comes out and says it.
I love how this game portrays characters and their situations by making them interactive moments, like Mr. Fox being Sam or the lonely kitten being Amanda.
One thing that I always found interesting is when rebecca is saying "the man in the headphones" it reminds me of the demons with goat horns, that curl back on the side of their heads, looking like headphones.
I love it when the editors add stuff in response to what matpat says like throwing the mint chocolate chip ice cream in matpats face cause he said that it can't be anyone's favorite
In his first Amanda theory he did a 2d version of his own game in the start, in this one in the start he does his own version of the game with himself in 3d. Pretty neat
As much as I love most of the theory wooly being Sam males little sense under the context of her anger toward wooly throughout and especially at the end trying to drug and kill him
Thisss I think the theory is solid otherwise. I do think wooly isn't a child that's trapped but I also don't really believe he's Sam. Just because I personally also get a slight bad vibe from him, in my eyes it seemed like wooly was purposely trying to have Amanda forget the bad stuff, so I was thinking he was more like a hamlen bad guy or something. I do think the farm episode could allude to wooly representing Sam in a way with how he isn't allowed to speak and such. But also I just feel like if it was actually Sam he would have more care for Amanda. We definitely will have to wait and see when more is added to the game
The way I see it, Amanda is Rebecca sharing headspace with someone else. It's also possible that after so long, "the man in the headphones" might be driving her mad.
@Sebastian M there was this tape where wooly was controlling the scene to make it his birthday to calm things down, when amanda gives the gift to wooly he smiles with a weird grin rubbing he's hands for a split 1 second at the very end of the tape (someone pointed this out)
It doesn’t make sense givin how wooly tries to basically keep her in line with the show. Almost as if he doesn’t want the watcher finding out more information. If it was Sam he’d be doing his best to help the watcher find out what happened too her just as much as Amanda does. Not only that but I didn’t like the whole “Amanda is still alive but atrophied” idea. She clearly states that she feels herself rotting. As in she was killed and her soul was transferred to the show. Especially when they clearly talk about dead things start to rot in that episode implying that she is clearly dead and can feel herself starting to decompose. This whole theory kind of felt a little rushed in my opinion…..
My favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip, When I was a kid it was chocolate, But mint chocolate chip became my favorite when I was a teenager and first tried it.
I had a theory that Amanda is a sort of mixture of all the children's souls. Because sometimes she's just a normal little girl and then other times she's sadistic and murderous. And you know how Sam says something about "everything she's been through before I adopted her" I thought that what if the "thing that she's been through" was being kidnapped by a butcher and then she was found and adopted. And that's why she doesn't want to go anywhere near the meat store.
The thing I always found SO interesting is that Amanda's monster form seems to have WOOL over its eyes. Which either shows to me that wooly has more influence than we think or that someone or something even higher up is pulling the strings and Amanda, or anyone, doesn't know
My only problem with this theory is that sometimes it doesn’t look like wool. I don’t remember what tape it’s in, maybe the cat tape when you say no but again I don’t remember, we see Amanda becoming the monster and it’s her normally but with the stuff over her face. And it doesn’t look like wool to me, it sorta looks like eyes. You can even see something that looks like a pupil in the middle come down and look at the screen. It’s also always very shiny, like not in a way light would hit down on hair or wool but how light would hit down on water, like how eyes are slightly, sorry for using this word, moist and it makes the light that shines down on our eyes look watery? I kinda gave up on the explanation at the end I didn’t really know how to explain it. That’s my take on this theory
the part about Amanda being able to hear through the TV makes sense when you think about the gameplay. Our character, Riley, is also watching the TV so she HAS to be speaking to her in order to advance in the tape.
I think that Wooly is the containment specialist, because Wooly always want the show to work like a normal show and when Amanda start questioning things (or even trying to ask for help) he try to stop that. Only when Wooly is gone Amanda can truly communicate and ask for help (like the "Sharing secrets" tape)
The only thing that makes me question this theory is the tape where Wooly tries to talk to us without Amanda, almost like he is trying to warn us about what Amanda is now. I can't see the company wanting to warn the viewer, but I can see them wanting to stop it (i.e. how Amanda cuts off and harms Wooly... I mean his accident)
I agree. If Matpat's theory is Wooly is Sam, I don't even what to watch this video. Why would Rebecca/Amanda ignore, bully, assault, and murder Sam? Danny McQuiggin being Wooly is the best theory with what we know. Danny McQuiggin is credited in the tapes as a 'containment specialist'. It could be that he is containing Amanda/Rebecca in the tapes. Wooly being a Hameln employee makes sense with Amanda and Wooly's relationship. Wooly goes along with everything Amanda does and rarely complains about being bullied or ignored. That is unless Amanda starts breaking character. Then he tries to redirect her, like in the video where it's Wooly's birthday. (He gives us a sus wink when this works.) He doesn't want her to contact Kate, and he doesn't want you to answer Amanda's question about everything rotting. I would summarize Wooly's role as, keep the star happy, but don't let her figure anything out. It seems by the end, Amanda has figured out Wooly's game, and she gets rid of him. Only after Wooly is gone, can she share her secret with you, that she is 'out there somewhere'.
Specifically that “you don’t have to answer that” from Woolie really sounds like a parent. I know that, at least in my case, my mom would usually keep me pretty sheltered as I grew up and wouldn’t make me do things I didn’t want to do. She would say things similar to that. It really doesn’t sound like a kid’s thoughts.
I actually disagree that Sam Colton is Wooly because Wooly why would Amanda hate her own father and go so far to try and kill him? Also he seems to try to want everything to be pretend in the tape where Amanda killed Wooly. Wooly also wanted to distract her and pretend it’s his birthday because he knows she’s remembering. I think that Wooly is a crew member that tries to make Amanda forget her past life and that gives a reason of why she hates him.
I dont think wooly is the father too, as you can see at the end of the game (when you find all the tapes) u are met with a unknown figure with a red coat we dont know who this guy might be but this all points out to being someone that really knows about all this stuff from afar someone that has made research about all of this and really knows about the behind scenes and wants to stop it its the father, maybe instead of killing the father off they missed, and sam managed to escape, he couldnt appear in broadlight again for so long thanks for the company (hamlen) looking out for him and try to kill him off again,so he only appears when its rlly needed (when riley finds all the truth and the tapes) thats when he needed to intervene and help riley to find his daughter.
I think it might be Sam if his end goal isn't to save Amanda. Amanda WANT to be saved and returned to her body and Wooly seemingly doesn't want that as his end goal. Why? Because Hamelin want more childrens to be lured. And they are using Amanda's desire to be freed, her plea for help as a bait for other childrens to follow her lead. Wooly goal here (Or Sam) is to keep Amanda happy, mentally stable (or maybe keep her soul intact and uncorrupted) and distracted from sending other childs to their doom. Wooly... want to prevent what happened to his daughter to other childrens! Sam probably wish to save Amanda but now that his soul in the same place as his daughter, his options for that are quite limited. But Amanda want this torment to end so he is bound to get hated by Amanda if he let her thoughts wonder and then he wont be able to protect her from the demons or the corporation owing the show.
Notice how Amanda said "bye yell" and "pie man" 3 times, but she only said "Baa lamb" twice, which I think that she only summoned 2 demons instead of 3.
Hamelin demon was a species of symbiotic demons, who trapped its victims in their dimension with illusions based on the individual childhood's dream. They had the appearance of an agglomerate of eyes with long tentacles.
something i noticed that ties in with the whole pied piper hameln thingy, is the use of so many flutes throughout the ost when watching the actual vhs' tapes ingame, and the flutes increase when amanda goes into more darker topics, like when she talked about death or rotting.
It's weird, but between this game, Hereditary, Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, I kinda dig that lesser known demons (i.e., any demon that isn't Beezelbulb or Satan if either or both are treated as a separate entity from Lucifer) are getting more and more of the spotlight. Particularly Paimon, despite the fact that he's one of the lesser Princes.
I remember first hearing about the ars goetia in a genshin impact theory video, since many of the gods in the game shared names with some of the demons (barbatos, morax, baal, and paimon as well) so seeing it come up again in this game was a pleasant surprise
I honestly hope there's a part two. There was a lot of clues hidden through the actions Riley takes that Matpat doesn't talk about. Honestly, I think he could also discuss HOW you obtain each of the tapes - by breaking the system to give Sam more control.
The Pied Piper story is such a fun idea for an indie horror game, I’m so glad this game is doing it justice!

The fact that the creators had the creativity to add a pied-piper reference and added hidden names of demons in the game is incredible.
Plus Amanda's Reaction of her more or less going "Wait, how do you know that?"
264 likes but no reply? I can change that. Oh 265 likes i mean
Or Wooly is someone from forcing her to be herself
there's a secret tape in the full version of the game which includes the moment where he says hes allergic to apples. My theory is that the episodes go differently depending on what Amanda decides to change. She wants to make the apple pie so as she gains more control she changes what wooly says
@@aurawolf8761 "Wookiee" lol
tbh, wooly seems more like an employee trying to keep the demon under control than a parent trying to keep his kid calm and happy.
@@IllegalCheeseCake. lots of parents were starting to not let their kids watch the show because the subject matter was getting weird, so I can understand why an employee would try to keep that type of content off the show. they want to reach as many kids as possible, cant do that when parents are shutting the television off
@@_WeDontKnow_ if the employee did that then why does the tapes still exist ..... Theory debunked. Try again
Yes, he tries to keep us and her away from the truth
yeah exactly
I think that's more to keep her from becoming the multi-eyed monster when she gets upset
i disagree, i think that whenever amanda gets sad or mad her entity starts to show so wooly tries to side track her so it keeps her entity at bay

YES! You teased this during the fnaf talkback and now its here!!!
You say wooly is the evil
Woah
Her tone of voice even changes when she said that.

Cory said this in his game play. This theory makes much more sense.
Yeah I think so too!
That would explain why Amanda's always trying to talk about uncomfortable subjects, she wants to get the parents attention so they stop they're kids from watching the show, meanwhile Wooly is always trying to stop her so more kids watch
Just had a random thought-
In the barn animals tape, when Amanda calls woolie a sheep and he looks offended- If we're following this theory I feel like that could be Amanda calling woolie -aka her dad- a follower and basically "calling him out" for allowing Amanda to be put in the show until it was far too late to turn back

I freaking love this theory!!
but if it’s an agent from hameln, an evil company that’s doing all this demonic stuff, why would wooly be trying to stop all the bad things that amanda is doing, when the company is the one trying to make that happen?
I've also heard a theory that the Amanda monster's eyes are actually a mask made of wool. It could either be Amanda getting the proverbial wool over her eyes, or maybe it's Wooly trying to inhibit the monster and/or Hamlin.

They ARE actually eyes, look closely

Idk about the guy in the red jacket but I definitely think it's weird that Rebecca would be so aggressive with her dad
It does explain why Wooly is so patient with her though.
is there a video on UA-cam that goes through the real ending?

Not to mention her monster form with wool covering the eyes- its literally "pulling the wool over her eyes"
I think he's ment to be the "wolf in sheep's clothing" pretending everything is fine so they can lure in more children
Yoooo, I hadn't thought about "wolf in sheep's clothing". Genius!
I was just about to point that out! Also, id say "Baa Lamb" kinda hints for Wooly's true identity as well.
😦
Wait, wdym "Wooly sitting in an interrogation room for 10 minutes?" Which secret tape was it, I haven't seen it

@Sebastian M there was this tape where wooly was controlling the scene to make it his birthday to calm things down, when amanda gives the gift to wooly he smiles with a weird grin rubbing he's hands for a split 1 second at the very end of the tape (someone pointed this out)
Would _you_ react well to someone you think abandoned you to the machinations of a faceless corporation bent on turning you into a puppet?
It doesn’t make sense givin how wooly tries to basically keep her in line with the show. Almost as if he doesn’t want the watcher finding out more information. If it was Sam he’d be doing his best to help the watcher find out what happened too her just as much as Amanda does. Not only that but I didn’t like the whole “Amanda is still alive but atrophied” idea. She clearly states that she feels herself rotting. As in she was killed and her soul was transferred to the show. Especially when they clearly talk about dead things start to rot in that episode implying that she is clearly dead and can feel herself starting to decompose. This whole theory kind of felt a little rushed in my opinion…..

bro got bombed with bots
I had a theory that Amanda is a sort of mixture of all the children's souls. Because sometimes she's just a normal little girl and then other times she's sadistic and murderous. And you know how Sam says something about "everything she's been through before I adopted her" I thought that what if the "thing that she's been through" was being kidnapped by a butcher and then she was found and adopted. And that's why she doesn't want to go anywhere near the meat store.
:00 that sounds actually real
That’s an amazing intro, I’d love to have a special Theorist mod like that!
The thing I always found SO interesting is that Amanda's monster form seems to have WOOL over its eyes. Which either shows to me that wooly has more influence than we think or that someone or something even higher up is pulling the strings and Amanda, or anyone, doesn't know
Yea I highly doubt wooly is Sam I think wooly could be some kind of manifestation of Amanda's for the show
My only problem with this theory is that sometimes it doesn’t look like wool.
@@maddie-i-suppose ı think same way to.
its look different and the shape looks very like eyes
@@maddie-i-suppose yeah they're definitely eyes.
the part about Amanda being able to hear through the TV makes sense when you think about the gameplay.
Wooly being the containment specialist makes 1000x times more sense than him being sam
5:51 I was eating mint cholet ship when he said that :[
Specifically that “you don’t have to answer that” from Woolie really sounds like a parent.
Maybe the company lost control of the demon and don't want Amanda to turn into it, so they have Wooly there to calm her down.
Personally, I think wooly is one of the first children Amanda took into her show, and he simply just want things to have some....normality, of sorts.
@@pendantalt i think so too!

The Pied Piper is originally in german called Der Rattenfänger von Hameln. So actually it is called Hameln. The company didn't even change the name.

And now the sequel to the game is now on demo,I wonder if we’re gonna get Theroy on it from Lee.
something i noticed that ties in with the whole pied piper hameln thingy, is the use of so many flutes throughout the ost when watching the actual vhs' tapes ingame, and the flutes increase when amanda goes into more darker topics, like when she talked about death or rotting.
Yooooooo I didn't even notice that! I thought it was weird that they give you a piano to play the hameln theme but it didn't sound like the tapes...
I just know Paimon is emergency food.
