  • How to keep showing up when you can't see any light at the end of the tunnel? Dementia caregiver burnout is a real issue (trust me, I know)! If you're a family caregiver - caring for someone with dementia or just caring for elderly parents - showing up day after day can be a daunting task.
    This video was made straight from my heart to yours. I hope it will inspire you to keep showing up and sing the song in their heart when they've forgotten how it goes. This too shall pass!

      Well I don’t think it’s really fair to lump people that use assisted living arrangements as somehow shirking their duties. Sometimes those things can’t be helped depending on the needs of the person. That’s adding guilt on top of guilt. Have grace 6:08 instead. Everyone’s circumstances are different.

    Just sending prayer for you this morning. I'm for you. My grandmother died from Alzheimer's years back. I learned a lot of what was really going on from that.

    Thank you. I know my husband and I have a way to go on this race with his Mom. She lives with us now and sometimes it's so hard to be patient when she's sundowning, or when I'm trying to get her ready for an appointment and she stops every few moments to look down at her feet and ask if she's wearing the right shoes. We've had to lock some things in a closet because she keeps rummaging through OUR stuff and using our things -toothbrushes, for example; I had to buy us new ones and lock them up, even though we have two toothbrushes for her -one in the upstairs bathroom, one in the downstairs bathroom.

      That’s so challenging… sounds like you’re both making an effort to be as patient and understanding as you’d like her to be if your roles were reversed. Bless you for helping her through this. ❤

    Ps. dr newport, that people were writing in and saying a great number were saying people were snacking or more sweets on and on, hiding snacks,,. One reported they would eat cookies almost as fast they ate them and barely gained any weight. She thought it was tithe brain needing energy but it was substituting sweets. That's the way I understood it. I don't see well and my typing goes south a lot, sorry,

    I take both then,, coconut oil oil. A brother started taking it. In about 4 months or a bit I asked him are u having these really old ancient memories suddenly popping up all of a sudden.. he immediately turned at to me and said yes! Now a grandparent in the 80s started on it.
    See how Dr Haley and her husband points 6 points I believe in an Alzheimer's type test in a short time. It was coconut oil remember,,not fish oil on that, I'm just trying to just want you again to know I'm for u and prayers.

    Fish oil also causes brain cell regeneration, source,,the army, and also, see the sago mine disaster victim and his recovery,,they gave him fish oil.

      Thanks for that, Debbi! Yes, I too have read that Omega-3 Oils (found in fish oils) are essential for brain health...in ANY healthy adult, not just those with Alzheimer’s.

    Go check out a book by Mary t Newport called Alzheimer's what if there was a cure. She admits it's an exaggerated title to,get attention but her husband had a noticeable improvement when she started him on coconut oil. He still couldn't drive or handle money. But she's on to something in this book. Easy reading. Bee sending prayers to any who happen on this. I'm for you. Im68 and don't see well. Just know somebody is praying for you. I hope u can read.

    • @caregiverschrysalis
      @caregiverschrysalis  4 роки тому

      YES Thank you for sharing this, Debbi! I haven’t read the book yet but saw an interview with her which inspired me to start cooking grandmas meals with coconut oil and hiding them in snacks (there are some great “coconut oil chocolate” recipes!).
      We definitely noticed a difference in her mental abilities on those days. Also removing gluten and sugar seemed to help.
      Thanks for taking time to leave a comment, and for your prayers for the caregivers out there ❤️
