Some more tips from me: 1. Use the GTS in Pokemon Home’s mobile version to obtain a Ditto. Usually there are at least a few people willing to trade their Ditto for yours. I got my own French Ditto with that method. Tip 2: Just in case you run into a wild Pokemon, have your Steam Engine/Flame Body/Magma Armor Pokemon hold a Smoke Ball to easily be able to run away. You can easily find one in the Slumbering Weald.

I got super lucky and actually got a Japanese Ditto on my very first surprise trade and she was so excited. I had no clue how big a deal it was so I looked it up and this video has really let me know why she was so excited. Thanks for all the good information PokeTips.
About the only thing i would have touched on differently have been the nature breeding with an everstone, that way you don't have to worry about mints. And then it'll just be IVs that you need concern yourself with. And if you happen to have a perfect ditto, slap a destiny knot on it, transfer them IVs. Really wouldn't have been much more than an added minute to the video. :)
Extra tip about wild pokemon: whichever pokemon has your step-cutting ability, for me it's Talomflame, have it hold a smoke ball so it can escape any encounter with a wild pokemon. Good for the bridge daycare due to the Wobbufets (shadows tag, which prevents you from escaping).
Being a Pokebreeder and breeding since black and white I like to say that patience is the key to this, if you can I recommend watching something like a show or a movie while doing your shiny breeding. Having hatched probably between 15-20k eggs you can do yourself a lot of good taking frequent breaks or passing the time by keeping your mind busy. As always and recommended having the shiny charm helps!
I average at least two shinies a day doing this and I don't have the shinny charm! I'm sure it helps, but I can guarntee that it's not needed to do this method successfully
I came up with a good idea to get rewards while the eggs hatch, basically just participate in a few Rotom Rallies, that way you get Watts + you go faster. Hope this helps :)
Thank you for the tips! I just did about 7 Surprise Trades, and got a Shiny freaking Raikou! I just recently finished the game, so this was awesome. I also got another shiny that had a website linked to it, and when I looked it up, people were saying you can get like hacked or something because it was being sold, so I just released it. I did get the foreign ditto though on the last trade!

if you’re looking at this guide in 2022 and noticing that surprise trades are dead, my advice is to get pokemon home. link it with your switch and on your phone, then catch a ditto in whatever your language is and put him in your PC. then go into pokemon home on your switch, pull him into the phome box, and save. open phome on your phone and look for gts dittos and sort by whatever region you want. there’s loads of foreign dittos with trades waiting for american dittos (at least in my case) so it was really easy.
I'll breed from the route 5 daycare and I noticed my average distance for another egg is between the girl on the bottom side of the bridge and to the guy on the opposite side a little further down. I usually go the distance to the guy then go back. But 9/10 that's the right distance to travel(with all met requirements for breeding). If not then I do like 2-3 quick circles. Hope it helps so people arent riding the entire distance for 1 egg at a time. Again you have to have the required items for faster egg spawning too.

Info: Easiest way for me to get foreign ditto. All I did was catch one in my game, and then just spam link trade offering my ditto for a trade. 4 people traded a ditto for mine but they ended up being from the same country. The 10th person I connected with traded me a ditto and it was German. Most people know what you want to do when you offer a ditto and will offer one to trade back, if they dont then just cancel and start a new one. Its super fast and only took me 5 minutes.
You forgot you can also play through a game in another language until you can get ditto then trade it to your main save for those who don’t have enough internet to trade

I was lucky enough to already have a Japanese Ditto way back from my Pokémon Ultra Moon copy which I also used for shiny hunting. I just Pokémon Banked him into Pokémon Home. I’m glad I didn’t have to do a lot of surprise trading.
Shiny RNG is a weird thing in Pokemon. Using the Matsuda method I managed to hatch a shiny Ralts in just over an hour, meanwhile I'm currently 1000 eggs into Poliwag and still haven't hatched one.

I've always heard about the Masuda method but never looked into it because I didn't care about shinies until very recently when I finally got my first one in the wild. I already do all of this. Route 5 is better because you have to release them for more room in the poke center. You can always go the town and spin in circles where that hill with the drawing is.

Used this method to hatch a Shiny Galarian Slowpoke, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Dreepy. I have a Japanese Ditto too! It's a long process but it's always exciting when I FINALLY hatch a Shiny! ^_^
I ended up getting two shiny sobble’s thanks to this method. First one took three days to get. second one I got 15 minutes later after hatching one of the eggs that I had left over.
If you have 2 switches and 2 copies of the game/a friend: On one copy, start a new save in any language that isn't the language of your main save. Start up a ditto raid on your main save. Make the other save join you, catch the raid ditto and trade! You now have a foreign ditto.

I was hunting a shiny gyarados when I found out how pretty they are but when I saw the shiny lapras color I put gyarados on hold 😁. When I found out about shiny pokemon (found out about them through a sword and shield play through) I was reaaaalllly surprised! I've always been a huge Pokemon fan but embarrassingly enough I only recently found out shiny pokemon existed. They are beautiful! 🥺

For anyone watching this and looking at the comment section, heres a glitch i found! Once you have 2 pokemon who "trust" or are "bestfriends" (you can talk to 2 pokemon to check if they are, in camp.) and put them into nursery. after you have done that go to about near the end of the path that leads to the nursery, wait until the pokemon there are despawned, then go back. The egg should be ready to farm! its really easy and very usefull for shiny hatchers. By the way this is for the wild area nursery, but i bet if you switch zones then come back it might work too.

It's better to do a link trade and chose the option to insert a trade code. The code 0000 4448 is a code players use to specifically trade Dittos from foreign countries. This is how I got my German ditto for shiney breeding.

I've always heard about the Masuda method but never looked into it because I didn't care about shinies until very recently when I finally got my first one in the wild. I feel like this video is a sign I should try it.

I already do all of this. Route 5 is better because you have to release them for more room in the poke center. You can always go the town and spin in circles where that hill with the drawing is.

I got my foreign pokemon from pokemon home! I was lucky enough to get it through the wonder box with pidove. It was a Chinese sobble
Used this method to hatch a Shiny Galarian Slowpoke, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Dreepy.
I have a Japanese Ditto too! It's a long process but it's always exciting when I FINALLY hatch a Shiny! ^_^
I ended up getting two shiny sobble’s thanks to this method. First one took three days to get. second one I got 15 minutes later after hatching one of the eggs that I had left over.

If you have 2 switches and 2 copies of the game/a friend:
On one copy, start a new save in any language that isn't the language of your main save. Start up a ditto raid on your main save. Make the other save join you, catch the raid ditto and trade! You now have a foreign ditto.

EASILY THE BEST METHOD. Today, I got a shiny Zigzagoon at 22 eggs. DEFINITELY the easiest/fastest way to shiny hunt in Sword and Shield!

Right now I am trying to hatch a shiny lapras ( one of my favorite pokemon) and I'm currently on 700+ eggs. I guess that when I hatch one it'll be my shortest hunt and first shiny ever in my whole life. I was hunting a shiny gyarados when I found out how pretty they are but when I saw the shiny lapras color I put gyarados on hold 😁. When I found out about shiny pokemon (found out about them through a sword and shield play through) I was reaaaalllly surprised! I've always been a huge Pokemon fan but embarrassingly enough I only recently found out shiny pokemon existed. They are beautiful! 🥺

i made the most big brain move and played pokemon lets go in chinese and got my ditto and sent it to sword now i have a foreign pokemon
I recommend using pokemon home if its linked to your Nintendo account, using GTS is how to can also get overseas ones

For anyone watching this and looking at the comment section, heres a glitch i found!
Once you have 2 pokemon who "trust" or are "bestfriends" (you can talk to 2 pokemon to check if they are, in camp.) and put them into nursery.
after you have done that go to about near the end of the path that leads to the nursery, wait until the pokemon there are despawned, then go back. The egg should be ready to farm! its really easy and very usefull for shiny hatchers. By the way this is for the wild area nursery, but i bet if you switch zones then come back it might work too.
Tried breeding a scorbunny for a friend and accidentally got a shiny (this was also first try) 😂

It's better to do a link trade and chose the option to insert a trade code. The code 0000 4448 is a code players use to specifically trade Dittos from foreign countries. This is how I got my German ditto for shiney breeding.
