Maybe if you don’t have a life and can spend days doing something like that, people with jobs and friends and family typically don’t so maybe don’t shame people for wanting easier ways to access cool features like that in games.

This sounds so helpful, but for me the joy in having a shiny is knowing that I put in the time in to grind for it.
True. It’s cool but if you didn’t work for it, it doesn’t feel like a REAL shiny. You didn’t REALLY put in the work. When I shiny hunted sobble it felt good because I knew that I worked for it.

@@skinnylegpocket7885 The problem with that analogy is with many of those things, while a tool is being used, a human behind it is putting in the effort to make those happen. The fishing rod won't pull the fish in because it's only a tool to reach inside the water so you can pull. Without the person to input the letters in a computer, the computer does nothing. If I were to use wallhacks or aimbot is it just using a tool then? Simply put, using this is botting which is cheating on every level.

Austin, my dude, I have been trying for a shiny Wooloo since the day the game came out. I finally took a break at 700 to complete the game, dex and acquire the shiny charm. I then went back to encounter over 1500 and am now using the Masuda method. It's taken so much time that I cannot let it go. I bought it and am using it and whatever moral qualms I had are drowned out by satisfaction that I've managed to save remaining sanity.

You were probably doing it wrong. You only get additional chance to find a shiny from the brilliant Pokémon. So you no doubt wasted all those times encountering non-brilliants.

@@LuciferAsh I thought the way you shiny hunted in the wild is you just knocked em out and used KO methods. Also my sister hunted for that shiny for a long time and never got it I think she did something wrong. Sense everytime she has hunted she failed to ever see a shiny.
@@gamer-jm6my I got it when this video was newer and have used it off and on. It’s simple and works perfect! I like to shiny hunting myself mostly but I do use it on occasion when something is being stubborn. Always gotten my shiny Pokémon no matter how many boxes it filled up.

At the end of the day, the pokemon was obtained legitimately, just not necessarily by you. It would be similar to trading for a shiny, which is still a win in my book.

I had 6 shines in USUM, that's 6 more than I've ever gotten in my playthroughs of Fire Red, Emerald, Black, Omega Ruby, and Sun combined.
He literally has the only working one. The thing is sold out for miles, and the updaye isn't released yet GG. Even if gamefreak or nintendo intervened they made their money. Well played collective minds well played.
Well sure, but.. How do you 'patch' this? You could program in checks for that specific behavior, which is only a short-term solution, or possibly an algorithm that tries to check for this kind of perfectly executed repeated behavior.. But it could still be subverted. And, frankly, I'm not confident that Game Freak is Competent enough to try. Nintendo might, but, until switches become iphones, the system is vulnerable for as long as they have working USB ports..

Technically, it makes no difference so long as you spent all that time hatching eggs. Because that's all this does, hatch eggs. The odds arent changed. Heck it might even waste time on faster eggs

I have raynaud's syndrome (my hands barely work when it gets under 65F inside/outside), this sounds like an amazing item to use. I can also see people with arthritis using this as well. These sort of devices make it possible for disabled people to do things they normally would struggle with.
I can second this. I haven't even used my device with pokemon yet, I've been busy marveling at how much it saves me hand pain in animal crossing and recommending it to my friends with joint issues/pain/etc.

That’s not a smart idea when the drop rates for shiny Pokémon won’t decrease for a long while. So unless everyone has hacked shiny Pokémon, it will never devalue.

@@rickyruins2272 No. It has various modes that accomplish a task. Some of the modes can be tweaked for load times or egg hatch times depending on different pokemon breeds. But the end user does not have the ability to freely change programing or anything. Not unless there is something I'm completely missing or you hack into the device or something. Now on PC I have make automated systems for PC games using certain tools that function a lot like the Switch Up. But that''s a different story. So no you have little control over the switchups automation. Which is not a bad thing but it would be nice to be able to tweak or make your own macros. If the Switch Up is not updated when you get it. Mine did not have program programed into it yet. I had to put it in my PC USB and easily update it.

My son hatched over 600 shuckles... he came and handed me the controller with instructions... me with no real controller ability ran into the grass and caught his FIRST shiny of the game... an espurr... broke his mind! I bought myself sword and console since we had fun... 5 minutes into the game I caught shiny rookie and didn’t know it until I was trading with him and now I’ve been schooled on how to recognize shiny Pokémon... now I’m hatching shuckles and he’s found a few more shinies... I’d LOVE to get him this device for Christmas... he’s done his TIME already this will even those ridiculous odds!

I just did my first hunt EVER, and it was for a shiney Grookey egg. Boy oh boy how right you are. Wee hours of the morning, still up, should have gone to sleep hours ago, going in circles, picking up new eggs, moving newborns to box and eggs from box, going, going, going. almost passed out a couple times the other night, after 4 hours. Decided to sleep. Next day, less than 10 minutes into the hunt, BAM. Shiney Grookey!

I'd personally rather hunt them myself. I feel like having a shiny from that would be so much less rewarding. Also you probably would not actually see it hatch which is a big part I feel.

Imo breeding is way better to get shinies. I could care less about watching it hatch so long as my foreign ditto / shiny charm / destiny knot is in place for Comp mons

The only Shiny I have found (manually) in Shield is Ditto, which is awesome because it's blue :)

Hacked?
Yooo my shinies are Skwovet, Flygon, Pikachu and Tapu Lele. Pikachu was transferred from Let's Go, Skwovet and Flygon were found entirely randomly, and I hunted for the Lele. My Surprise-traded hacked in Pokémon are a Ditto (with Pokérus), Dracovish and Cinderace, which I all ended up releasing.

P.s. I don't think its cheating. Others might consider it but it's been around for a long time. This is just a different presentation with more accessibility to what we already have

Thank you for acknowledging it. Personally I’d be against using this method because it’d feel MUCH less satisfying. The rush of when you hatch a shiny yourself after hours of grinding is.. well to me anyway, more appealing.

I dont really like this personally the best part of shiny hunting is the sweat and tears of an 1000+ egg hatching and the absolute joy of hatching the shiny yourself. I mean seriously doing this you might not even get a genuine reaction if you just check with your pokedex and dont see it pop out of the egg

Ok so the general message I'm seeing here is that because it is not MY FINGERS pressing the buttons, then it is cheating. From what I am understanding this device does not alter the game in any way, it does not change code it does not make the shiny pokemon appear any more frequently, it ONLY presses buttons for you while you go to school or work. And y'all are calling it cheating. I'm very curious to hear some logic behind this argument.
It's a very blurred line. But let's look at some other things. Speedrunning video games for example someone physically has to play the game to have the record count for anything. A computer playing the game is another separate category that's more of just a showcase of what's possible in the game.
Another example mmorpg's you typically have to physically play the game or your violating the rules. Oldschool runescape botting can result in a permanent ban of your account. Which is exactly what this is doing it's not exploiting the game it's just playing for you.
Another thing let's say you just hacked the pokemon in the game it's safe to assume that's cheating correct? You never did anything to earn that pokemon you just got it. This is so very close to that. I'll just go to sleep by the time I wake up I may have a shiny pokemon. This feels like just hacking in a pokemon with extra steps. Mashing a button for a fossil doesnt feel as bad (your not likely to just run one for hours on end without input) you'll probably have to reset fairly frequently depending on how many fossils you have. It's also literally a button masher which in some other games you literally just have to hold a button to skip through text and choices so I see it as a why not thing.
The bottom line is this for all intents and purposes will produce 100% legally obtained pokemon but in most normal gaming situations would be considered cheating. Its having an automated bot controlling all the actions of the game. I will say though if this wasnt entirely automatic like saying gather a couple boxes of eggs. Then it like runs circles for me for a couple minutes to hatch a batch then i had to switch out the hatched mons with new eggs then I personally would be ok with it. It's not an endless loop i could run without any outside input. I still have to physically be performing actions to get what I'm going for. This was a long reply to a very old message but it's why I would view this as cheating.

I know everyone is saying this but it really is true that it feels much more rewarding to grind for that shiny yourself. This would be helpful to people who genuinely don't care about that aspect of it though and just want a shiny to have a shiny or many if they just think the shiny variant of a specific pokemon looks cooler.
