I love how PM7 went for shiny Espeon apparently not realizing it is one of the most controversial shiny eeveelutions. A lot of people dislike that alien green for Espeon.
To be fair, while it’s easily the most controversial shiny among eeveelutions, it is still an eeveelution, which in itself still makes it pretty popular and gives it a really good chance. Even if the voting is technically about the shiny forms, some people will always let their bias about a species decide their vote. (I know that I would be guilty of that too, since I absolutely hate druddigon’s design regardless of colors, so anything against it would have taken my vote)
If you do this type of round again, maybe add a third Pokémon as an option as a control? Then it could be really fun to see if the audience thinks either of your shinies are better than the chosen baseline
No they caught shinys and then made the poll and put in which one they caught and then later they looked who won each round so a third option would be useless

Idea: for season 2, you should do this challenge except all the Pokémon are normal. That way you have to guess what the shiny looks like, and then catch the Pokémon. To make it easier, you could get 2 Pokéballs to throw, and then decide between the two Pokémon and choose one for the poll. (And to make it harder, you can make it so that if you find any shiny Pokémon while searching, they have to be the Pokémon you go in with. And if you want to be EXTRA evil, you could make it so that the shiny Pokémon AREN’T shiny in the poll. Just a bit of revenge for John getting so many shinies.)
