    Absolutely gorgeous songwriting with a tightly knit band. The most sonically interesting organic band out the there right now. Beautiful.

      I love the song, but c'mon... their voices are objectively terrible.

      I'm dead. I mean, we are taught to interpret voices certain ways but what does that really mean or matter in terms of musical expression?
      I know where you're coming from but I like that their voices sound like they're connected to that person's being rather than contorting to a standard humans created.

    Caroline, Caroline
    I never could leave you to struggle
    Hold the line, hold the line
    I'll be there on the double
    In time, in time
    Everyone does see trouble
    And you don't need to know why when you cry
    You don't need to know why
    You don't need to know why when you cry
    Violet's eyes, Violet plays
    Going back home to the Great Lakes
    Where the cattail sways
    With the lonesome loon
    Riding that train in late June
    With the windows wide by my side
    With the windows wide
    With the windows wide by my side
    And the clusters fell, like an empty bell
    Meteor shower at the motel
    Where the empty space is a saving grace
    Making good time and doing well
    Still the question sings, like Saturn's rings
    Maybe she knows and she won't tell
    But you don't need to know why when you cry
    You don't need to know why
    You don't need to know why when you cry
    And I find you there in your country flair
    Middle of the river in a lawn chair
    With your wrinkled hands and your silver hair
    Leaving here soon and you know where
    To where the cattail sways with the lonesome loon
    You'll be riding that train in late June
    With the windows wide by your side
    With the windows wide
    With the windows wide by your side
    You don't need to know why
    You don't need to know why when you cry

    am i crazy or is adrianne playing a 12 string with all the doubles removed except the low E? thats really smart actually.

    • @Tinydude10
      @Tinydude10 3 роки тому +7

      I thought I was seeing the same thing, but it's definitely a full 12-string. Check the nut at 1:32 or the headstock at 0:50. The lighting's playing tricks, it seems.

    I am ashamed of the subliminal jokes, regarding the "hatchet mark" on her head, which tainted my first impression.
    Because, when I began to really listen to the way this song spoke to my soul, I was drawn in, to a place that was truly blissful.
    I'd write more good things about this band, but, I really just want to listen to it again. 😀

      In an interview they said the songs in the album Two Hands are already well finished, perfectly produced songs. On the other hand, songs in the UFOF album are more stripped down, leaving the band with more space to play around live. Cattails is in UFOF, so maybe the ending is just improvisation.

    • @MaddestMousse
      @MaddestMousse 4 роки тому +2

      I see, well yeah it's improv, at least for the most part, with adrianne playing the main progression, they're jamming out the ending as one would, possibly doing an extended ending. But I'm talking about the abrupt end of that and the lack of continuing that extension, at around 3:30 adrianne just suddenly puts a stop to that haha like she wasn't having it or wasn't digging it, just starts fucking around in an intentionally unfitting way to end the song essentially, I'm not just not sure what the deal is there, seems weird and not like how you'd imagine they would plan to end the song?

    • @sweetpeabee4983
      @sweetpeabee4983 3 роки тому +1

      @@MaddestMousse seemed to me very much a playful sort of "i'm kinda bored with this right now; let me do something silly and fun" from adrianne haha. Which I get, 'cause it gets a little boring, I imagine, to play the same material repeatedly without mixing it up now and again. Sometimes that ends up working well & sometimes it doesn't; comes with the territory 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @MaddestMousse
      @MaddestMousse 3 роки тому

      @@sweetpeabee4983 hmm yeah okay, now that you say that it's easier for me to try and see it in that light haha but i originally and sort of still kinda see it as like an abortion of the song cause she wasn't liking the meandering or the direction it was going into at the end, admittedly it wasn't all coming together like it probably could have. i like how you put it though, that's quite likely the case and i would like to think so, a more playful instance of just "hey this is getting boring i'm gonna just get silly and fuck around, the song is done now" lol. Cause yeah you definitely said it, it can for sure get boring playing the same stuff over and over again, ya gotta mix it up sometimes! and it doesn't always sound good or work but sometimes it does and sounds amazing. makes you wonder if said action of Adrianne was the mix-up or a reaction to the mix-up that maybe wasn't working? haha. thanks for the reply!! \m/

  • @paultjarman

    Great song by Adrianne. Always think she deserves a better band though. James on drums is effective, but Buck can neither do backing vocals nor match the guitar that is on the original recording. Wasted talent.
