Unleash the Archers was the last concert I went to (March 10th) before the world closed. I was supposed to see Jinjer in April, but that obviously didn't happen.
Here's a vague breakdown to give you a bit of context behind this songs lyrics and the album it's from - Apex(2017). This is a concept album telling a story track by track about an Immortal being. This is the opening song on the album. It is sung from the Immortals perspective(not all the tracks are), about being awoken in his mountain hollow from a 1000 year sleep. As a covenant of birth, the immortal must do the bidding of whoever awakens him. As the tracks progress, you find out that The Matriarch(which is played by the male vocalist in this song Awakening) was the one to awaken him. She wants him to find her four sons, so she can kill them and perform a blood ritual to gain immortality for herself(pretty dark haha), and his journey to find them. Each son has their own song about them on the album. The closing song Apex, is about the immortal going back to sleep in his mountain and it is a phenomenally written song. Their new album, which came out in August, is a continuation of this story, and the immortal has awoken on a spaceship confused as hell wondering where tf his mountain is lol from the single Abyss. I won't go into the rest of the album lol 🇨🇦🤘
@@yazma2 no problem. I think you'll really like the song Cleanse The Bloodlines. Awesome produced video for an awesome, heavy song - it's about the Matriarch telling the immortal to find her son's
Great reaction. Another group with amazing talent that I love is Allegaeon. You should check out “Proponent for Sentience III “, “Gray Matter Mechanics “, or “1.618”.
The band started as melodic death metal/power metal and has trended heavily into the power metal side since then. Their old stuff is great but very different. This album, Apex, and their newest album Abyss are a long storyline that is mostly powermetal yes. The album previous to this one has my favorite song of theirs though, "Test Your Metal"
A fantastically fun fact. The whole album tells a story about an immortal entity being "awakened" and at the end "going back to sleep". The album after this depicts the same immortal entity awakening in the future. Very creative stuff. I own the whole Apex album on CD and it is in my car. When I get tired of all the commercials on the radio I switch to a very awesome album and don't switch back until the story is complete.
I figured you'd like UTA. They understand how reactions expand their fan base: Singer Brittany Slayes is known to watch UA-cam reactions, and has even worked with reactors to do interviews and introduce new music videos through exclusive first reactions, and other members have been known to occasionally comment on reactions. That definitely sits well with their fan base!
You definitely have to check out more! Since you liked it, there's no way you won't get into them when you hear more. Britney has been compared to THE Bruce Dickinson! Her vocals are absolutely insane!! Awakening doesn't even compare to what she does on "Tonight we ride" or "Test your metal". If you want newer stuff, check out "Faster than light". And FYI she actually reproduces how she sounds in the studio recordings, when singing live 100%. I had to pick my jaw from the floor when I first heard her doing Queensryche's "Queen of the Reich" live (after a concert she'd done the same evening) in a karaoke bar!! It's on UA-cam actually, shitty mobile phone recording but it's totally worth it! Cheers!! Keep it up!!
I love Brittany Slays she’s an awesome vocalist, I love their songs “General of the Dark Army” and “Tonight We Ride” or like short power metal “Test your Metal” (only because power metal is normally rather long tracks) but there are a couple more bands from Canada that are awesome (female fronted also) different genres tho. Kobra and the Lotus (KatL) - “Soldier” or “50 Shades of Evil” (they are more heavy rock than metal) Motion Device - “Responsibility”, “Thick Skin”, or “Awake” (also more rock or heavy rock than metal) Spiritbox - Rule of Nines (official video then live one take) a lot like Jinjer with more electric sounds) There is one more I recently found but I’ll have to look for them again then edit it in Edit: Lutharo - “Unleash the beast” and “Blood Lightning” another band similar to Jinjer but totally different also
Canadian Metal : so good Darkthrone wrote a song called Canadian Metal... Bit of history for ya: November Grief. 1992 all woman death metal. Italian label FOAD reissued their demos over summer. Pretty damn good
Brilliant!! They're from Canada! Try "Test Your Metal" by Unleash the Archers next! BUUUT before that, give this other band a shot: The Warning. They're a Mexican hard rock power trio of sisters. Very young, but full of energy, attitude, and passion. This song called "Dust to Dust" was performed live last year at the Foro Didi venue in Mexico. It's the first track off there second album Queen of the Murder Scene. Back then, the guitarist Daniella was 19, the drummer Paulina was 17, and the bassist Alejandra was 14. I think that you will enjoy this and can't wait to get your impressions on these ladies. Best, - Wil.
Yes, they are power metal (well actually a fusion of power metal and melodic death metal), and yes they are fantastic... and so are you! Love your reactions and love your personality / style... you have become my favorite 'reactor' and most looked forward to! Most reactors (at least the ones I follow) refrain from any vulgarity, and when they slip, they get all weird about it... as if it's against the rules or something. You on the other hand, just let that potty mouth flow lol, and I love it! That sexy British accent doesn't hurt either. To answer your other question, they are Canadian... from Victoria, British Columbia. As much as I love UTA, and as much as this is a great song, it's far from their best. The album before this one (Test Your Metal) has all their best songs like Tonight We Ride, Time Stands Still and Test Your Metal... those songs display Brittney Slays' vocal range and vocal abilities MUCH better. I really wish everyone wouldn't always request this song for 1st time reactions... Tonight We Ride is probably the best way to go for the 1st reaction. Also... you should check this out, even if you don't react to it... There was this one time that, after they played a full show, they were hanging out at a karaoke bar and Brittney went up and did a Queensryche song, Queen of the Reich... and it was absolutely amazing! ---> ua-cam.com/video/280DRqoGyLw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=UnleashTheArchers She also covered The Cranberries 'Zombie', just 2 months ago. ----> ua-cam.com/video/-bmSMOt_ZHU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=UnleashTheArchers Now... a question for you... you mentioned this style is not usually your 'cup of tea', not usually what you would listen to while alone. I'm really wondering what your normal style / taste in sub-genre is? That way I could maybe suggest something for you in that sub-genre that I think you would like.
They are the most interesting band in power metal, most probably because they integrate elements of death metal. Musicianship is mindbnlowing, Brittney Slayes is the "power" in power metal, and also s super nerd. The album is a concept album with fantasy story. Their newest video is funny as hell (Faster than Light) and well worth watching, even if you don't prefer power metal. Also, not my cup of tea, but these guys are way too awesome to miss their videos. They come from Canada. Nice to see you exploring all the best women in metal! I am already excited, which one comes next form The List. Thanks for the video, much appreciated!
@@yazma2 Oh, Brittney has a great sense of humor. When the new video came out, she reacted with a YT reactor on it. LOL. I don't think anyone did *that* before. Oh, and what I wanted to ask, but forgot: Is Infant Annihilator's "Blasphemian" already on The List? It is a classic. Most brutal and highly skilled death metal and a very unique video.
OMG UTA I AM VERY EXCITE. I'm going to buckle in and enjoy. They are from Vancouver in Canada, same as Spiritbox. This is definitely power metal, and they don't dance around it. A lot of people have said that Brittney sounds like she could be Dio's long lost child. If you do react to any more UTA, anything from their new Abyss album is going to be fun, you'll definitely have a laugh at "Faster Than Light," but their older stuff like "General Of The Dark Army," "Northwest Passage," "Time Stands Still," and "Tonight We Ride" I think you'll love watching from the perspective of a producer, because they all do show the music being played at points in the video, and really help the deep vocals and instrumentals hit home.
One huge thing about Unleash the Archers is, Brittany Slays (lead) has done reactions WITH reactors on their songs. She's good shit and really down to earth!!
Hey Yaz, thanks for another really entertaining video! Some day when the mood is right, you should listen to their last two records. They're an ongoing concept album series and are both fantastic. I don't like power metal either (not brutal enough lol), but I make an exception for this band!
Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Cygnus. Epic song, amazing duality in the voices, extatic finish, this will lead you to another planet. Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - The Wreck of S.S. Needle (live @De Kreun, the timecode is 17,25), for a terrifyingly good live performance Enjoy the fucking trip and the insane voice of Julie, one of the best singers in extreme music nowadays.
Hi there! UTA is a powermetal band as you might have understood by now i guess? If you like this you would probably like Lovebites! Japanese PM band too who are in the PM, Trash, heavy metal area. "When Destinies align" is a good starter. You should also put Band-amid on your list! "Dice" (MV) or "Domination" (live) might be in your liking? :)
First, they are from British Columbia, Canada which I believe others already pointed out here. I'm from Seattle and became aware of them since I'm somewhat in the neighborhood. They are just such skilled musicians and tight in their playing, and always have a melodic approach that they can cross genres. They have great tempo changes, and Brittany holds it all together. This song should be their big breakout hit!
It's about a being called The Immortal, cursed to live forever and serve others as summoned, kinda like a genie. Asleep in a mountain, until someone awakens him to do their bidding. He is awakened by an evil sorceress called The Matriarch, who commands The Immortal to find her four sons so she can kill them for a blood ritual to gain immortality for himself. Each song on the Apex album is a chapter in the story. We meet The Immortal here, as he is being awakened. Later, we meet The Matriarch and get to know her nature and motives. The Immortal meets The Matriarch and gets sent out on the quest to find the Sons ("Cleanse the Bloodlines"). Each Son gets another song as The Immortal finds them one by one, fights them, and brings them to their doom. The final Son becomes sort-of friends with The Immortal, forgives him because he is cursed and enslaved, and goes to his death willingly ("Earth and Ashes). Then The Immortal, having completed his quest and wracked with guilt, goes back to sleep in his mountain ("Apex"). In the follow-up album, Abyss, the Immortal is awakened again. But now his mountain is gone and he's on a starship, awakened by someone new. And The Matriarch doesn't like that...
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! AWAKENING To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die Come to me, awakening Follow my voice, come to me Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night Once again revitalized, to roam; to never Lighting my way in the night To roam; to never die
Earth And Ashes is a criminally underrated track from the same album. It's more melodic than Awakening but still slaps hard. Cool reaction, keep em comin !
Definitely check out Soulbound or Abyss from their newest album. Totally epic! Or for something even faster than Awakening, check out Faster Than Light. Brittney is a force, her voice almost hits like a punch
To answer a few of your questions from the video: Yes, it's power metal. I think some of their harder, more growly songs flirt with the line of melodic death metal, but for the most part it's power metal. They're from Canada. Brittney Slayes is my favorite vocalist of all time. I get that this isn't your type of music, and that's fine, but if you wanted to react to more of them, I'd recommend the entirety of the Apex album (which is what this is off of), or at least Cleanse the Bloodlines, Call Me Immortal, Ten Thousand Against One, and Apex. Other great songs are Tonight We Ride and Time Stands Still (Which features Rob Halford of Judas Priest in the music video as a cameo!). I won't try to make you though if you're genuinely not into it. :) Not sure what sorts of music you usually listen to but if you mention it I'm sure I can give some great suggestions. I listen to all genres of metal and rock basically, and there's very little I actively dislike.
As I was editing this, I fell more and more in love with the song! I don’t really have a specific taste in music. I think when I say that it’s not my type, it’s more that I can’t imagine having it as a regular vibe I’m looking for. But saying that there’s music I know I love that I don’t listen to as much anymore. Hmmm. The main point is that they blew my mind 😂🤯
@@yazma2 Fair enough! It took me a few listens to really fall in love with this album but I think that's kind of the point of a concept album like Apex, you don't get it completely the first listen-through. I get what you mean about "not listening to them regularly" though. I like most metal but sometimes I just have to be in the mood for it. Alright though, I'll start throwing curveballs and we'll see how many of them you enjoy :)
Thousands of UA-camrs: Are female metal singers really the future of the world wide pop industry or is this just a temporarly phenomenon? Brittney Slayes: Hold my beer!

This is an AWESOME concept. So epic. Thank you so much for this.
@@yazma2 no problem. I think you'll really like the song Cleanse The Bloodlines. Awesome produced video for an awesome, heavy song - it's about the Matriarch telling the immortal to find her son's
I miss seeing your reaction videos you're raw and real personality is awesome!!
09:58 that smile on Britt’s face kills me. 😁
That face at 2:55 is the right face to be making in that moment. Well done!
Great reaction. Another group with amazing talent that I love is Allegaeon. You should check out “Proponent for Sentience III “, “Gray Matter Mechanics “, or “1.618”.
Oooo this is the first I've heard of them! Thanks Jim :D
They understand how reactions expand their fan base:
Singer Brittany Slayes is known to watch UA-cam reactions, and has even worked with reactors to do interviews and introduce new music videos through exclusive first reactions, and other members have been known to occasionally comment on reactions. That definitely sits well with their fan base!
No way! I hope I'm one of the lucky ones!

you are so hilarious;)))- "Oh my DAYS!" Great video and reaction....LOVE UTA;)..... best of luck on your channel!
Kobra and the Lotus (KatL) - “Soldier” or “50 Shades of Evil” (they are more heavy rock than metal)
Motion Device - “Responsibility”, “Thick Skin”, or “Awake” (also more rock or heavy rock than metal)
Spiritbox - Rule of Nines (official video then live one take) a lot like Jinjer with more electric sounds)
There is one more I recently found but I’ll have to look for them again then edit it in
Edit: Lutharo - “Unleash the beast” and “Blood Lightning” another band similar to Jinjer but totally different also
I concur, great recommendations on bands and songs. Kobra and the lotus- soldier is a solid banger.
Canadian Metal : so good Darkthrone wrote a song called Canadian Metal...
Bit of history for ya: November Grief. 1992 all woman death metal. Italian label FOAD reissued their demos over summer. Pretty damn good
Second "Test your Metal"...
they're from Canada, the band is based in Vancouver.
check out their cover of "Northwest Passage"
UTA are Canadian! Vancouver to be exact. For a different vibe check out their cover of Northwest Passage.
I must say, I love your voice; it’s soothing. The accent is a plus!
Thank you 😁🥳
Yes, they are power metal (well actually a fusion of power metal and melodic death metal), and yes they are fantastic... and so are you!
---> ua-cam.com/video/280DRqoGyLw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=UnleashTheArchers
She also covered The Cranberries 'Zombie', just 2 months ago. ----> ua-cam.com/video/-bmSMOt_ZHU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=UnleashTheArchers
Now... a question for you... you mentioned this style is not usually your 'cup of tea', not usually what you would listen to while alone. I'm really wondering what your normal style / taste in sub-genre is? That way I could maybe suggest something for you in that sub-genre that I think you would like.
Cleanse the Bloodlines and Apex are both amazing musicianship and vocal power. Amazing group.
Thanks Martin! I'll have to check out their other videos, especially if they have a sense of humour :D
100 percent right about not interrupting. Good luck on the channel!
John Huff Jr thanks John!
I've watched several of your videos and you and I see eye to eye on almost everything. If I where you I'd be worried!
Awww that's amazing. Makes me a lil nervous too though ahahah
Hey Yaz, thanks for another really entertaining video! Some day when the mood is right, you should listen to their last two records. They're an ongoing concept album series and are both fantastic. I don't like power metal either (not brutal enough lol), but I make an exception for this band!
It is totally true canadian powermetal at it's best. Love the band, love your reaction !
Thanks Ben, glad you're digging it!
Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Cygnus. Epic song, amazing duality in the voices, extatic finish, this will lead you to another planet.
Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - The Wreck of S.S. Needle (live @De Kreun, the timecode is 17,25), for a terrifyingly good live performance
Enjoy the fucking trip and the insane voice of Julie, one of the best singers in extreme music nowadays.
Y E S!!! You finally did it! Thank you! Try Test Your Metal You may like that one. They're from Canada.
Boing - boing - boing - thankyou - thankyou - thankyou!!!
I’m terrified of this. What if she hates me!

Silly goose - she will love, love, love you like we all do! :P
Their most recent drop, Legacy is fast becoming one of my favorites of theirs. Britney is a brilliant front-person.
Never clicked on a video so fast! Great reaction yaz!
Absolutely love you and your channel. Missed you yesterday much love ❤️
Good to see you Dustin!
@Yaz the Producer. You are awesome
Hi Yaz hope your having a wonderful weekend and great job with your reaction to Awakening From Unleash The Arechers.
Have an amazing weekend Eric!

UTA power metal band from Canada that are just Epic, listen to them frequently to keep my spirts up :) power metal is just that awesome!
Maybe I should start my mornings with power metal
@@yazma2 most definitely plus caffeine helps to :)
That intro is really great, power metal is not for me though not sure exactly why
but man that instrumental intro...so great
Probably already familiar with it but Pantera - Domination - Live in Moscow is my fav live vid ever.
greetings from Canada..another great Canadian metal band:)
A new song of their's you may like is "Soulbound" and an older one, as others have said is "Tonight we Ride"
"!000 years have passed and I stay the same" "My master calls me to awakening..." Sounds very vampire themed.
She says "Powwa Mehul" love that accent Yaz lmao
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME!
AWAKENING
To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed
To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same
This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace
A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way
Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end
Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name
It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream
I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse
My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
Come to me, awakening
Follow my voice, come to me
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never
Lighting my way in the night
To roam; to never die
Listen to Ten Thousand Against One from the same album. Really good too.
Great song!!
You should check out songs from their latest release Abyss. The title track, Soulbound, or Faster than Light are all incredible!
If Dio, Queensryche and Iron Maiden had a baby it would be Unleash the Archers.
Earth And Ashes is a criminally underrated track from the same album. It's more melodic than Awakening but still slaps hard. Cool reaction, keep em comin !
Intense!! Not necessarily my genre either, but they are very talented.. And ya, you just gotta let it flow!
suuuuper intense right!
@@yazma2 Here's one for ya... ua-cam.com/video/VvN1wk5pyrQ/v-deo.html
Definitely check out Soulbound or Abyss from their newest album. Totally epic! Or for something even faster than Awakening, check out Faster Than Light. Brittney is a force, her voice almost hits like a punch
No faking that grin. Or the surprise. Splendid reaction.
Love your reactions, also your eyes a mesmerizing.
Love some UTA! They're canadian power metal 🤘
I sat here trying to figure out what UTA stood for for WAY TO LONG! 😅😂
@@yazma2 😂😂😂 Too funny!
@@yazma2 incase no one has told you there from vancouver
Not sure what sorts of music you usually listen to but if you mention it I'm sure I can give some great suggestions.
It is definitely power metal, but, with some definite thrash elements added in. They're from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Thousands of UA-camrs: Are female metal singers really the future of the world wide pop industry or is this just a temporarly phenomenon?
Brittney Slayes: Hold my beer!
So good!!! Great Canadian Metal band!
This is indeed power metal.
They are Canadian.
This is the kind of stuff you listen to when cycling and you have a need for speed.
Dude that's such a good suggestion. I'm gonna try that!
6:41 yes, everytime I watch this bit.... it feels like they were missing a few seconds of pro-shot recodings and had to fill this bit with the worst camera they had it covered lol. and as u guessed cause he walked across every other camera xD
I'm glad someone else saw this!!!
It's odd, because this is honestly one of my favorite shots of the video! :D
