Anna this reaction was fantastic, thank you SO much for the subs, and I can't wait to see what other metal bands you end up doing. Unleash the Archers blows me away every time I listen to them, there's always something I didn't notice before. I would highly recommend checking out some of the stuff like their videos from the new album. "Legacy" is quite a bit different from this track.
This song is the opening track from their album "Apex". It is the first of two concept albums that tells the story of The Immortal (played by Brittney), and The Matriarch (Played by Grant). Apex tells the story of the Immortal having been woken up from his mountain home and feeling excited to see the world again after a thousand years. But the question of who has awakened him from his sleep and why is answered over the course of the entire album.
It is so worth listening to in its entirety, and following it with their new album "Abyss" is guaranteed to make you fall in love with them for their amazing versatility and talent.
As a side note, Brittney sometimes checks out reactions to UtA and will reach out to the reactor. I would love to see her reach out to you.

Wonderful review and insights of a super band. Since you're a vocal coach I'd suggest from Unleash the Archers, Tonight We Ride to hear how Brittney takes it up even higher. A couple of other amazing songs are The Wind That Shapes the Land and Cleanse the Bloodlines. Both of those have amazing sustained vocals as well.

and I got a recommendation, if you are interested: a japanese all female metal band, 2018 metal hammer best new band award , first all female band in wacken. pure female metal power, brutal, but they always stay feminine and graceful. they easily slay most of the bands out there. and that they are really serious you can at the fact, that their albums were mixed and mastered at finnvox/helsinki by the guys that worked with CoB, Amorphis, Nightwish ... . 8:07 I've sometimes heard that types of body postures as "horse riding": feet separated at shoulder's distance, knees partially flexed to allow that "bounciness" you mentioned, and the core of the body engaged and forward.
On a side note, I've never heard anyone relating that posture to sports before, like some kung-fu/taekwondo postures or skiing.

Diamonds and Rust?), for example. But perhaps you are interested in something more unique. I recently came across a Mongolian band called The HU. Ever heard of them? The first song of theirs I heard, called Yuve Yuve Yu, is a real earworm, and has absolutely gorgeous visuals too. They use some traditional instruments, but their voices...wow. You might have some fun with a newer piece they released with Lzzy Hale, a tribute to women called: The HU - Song of Women, featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. 👍😁 While they were all Great, that Drummer was Fire! 🔥🔥🔥 I grew up hanging around several Drummers (one is a professional musician, as well as were some of my other "acquaintances"/"friends") and that drummer is AMAZING (Not to take away anything from the lead singer or the rest of the group)! I tried to learn how to play myself, because of one of my friends (even though the Guitar is my favorite instrument) had an instructional video a a great drum set, and I can tell you it is much harder than it looks! So, much respect for this fella on the drums! 🥇 What a Great Band (If I remember right, I think they are from Canada?)! 🤯

@@annavaskelainen I think my reply got lost. Brittney writes the lyrics for the band and she is a Dungeons and Dragons/fantasy Nerd. Awakening is the first song of their masterpiece album Apex. The story is about a being known as The Immortal, who has been cursed to spend eternity slumbering in a mountain cave until someone invokes his name and awakens him. He must then do the bidding of the person who has summoned him, whether it is for good or for bad. In the story, he is summoned by a really evil, nasty person known as The Matriarch. The story line is traced over the entire Apex album, and with their following album Abyss which came out last year. Even if you dont react to them, listen to them, they are both fantastic. I played drums for over 55 years, some of that time professionally, and I have heard a lot of great music in my life. Apex ranks as one of the best albums to have come out in the last 15 years or so. :)

I would say that Tarja and Sabine Edelsbacher were the first sopranos to front metal bands, not sure who was first.
@@crhu319 I thing it was Tarja. Her first album with Nightwish was in 1997 but not very sopranolike i'd say. The second album though, "Oceanborn" in 1998... Tarja was a force of nature. Although i'm an old metalhead that likes more brutal stuff, i still remember back in 98, the goosebumps her voice gave me. Sabine Edelsbacher on the other hand joined the band EDENBRIDGE which was formed in 1998, in 2000. Before that, in 1996 she joined the band project CASCADE as a singer but with little, if any success. And lets not forget Lori Lewis, the amazing soprano with Therion before Sabine or Tarja came to the scene.

They are a 3-piece hard rock ensemble of sisters: Daniela Villarreal on guitars and lead vocals, Paulina Villarreal on drums and vocals, and their youngest sister, Alejandra Villarreal on bass and backing vocals. Despite their youth, they have been performing live for over 6 years, from small venues to large rock / metal festivals in Latin America.

Surely, I was in that cloud of pests who asked you to watch it.
To me, this song shows the 'constrained Brittney'... she is "staying between the guard rails" and not testing the edges of safety.
(she really is a 'safe singer', and apparently she takes many measures to protect her voice, her instrument)
If you want to hear her get a little more crazy, try "Tonight we Ride"... it is a little older than this one (2015, I think)
If you want a more current and beautiful Brittney-focused song, try "Legacy". While it has a lot of energy, I use it as a cool-down/relaxation song.
(you asked 'which songs do you use to exercise.... sadly my knees are long-damaged... my 15 minute/5km days ended by the early 80's)

This video has way too few likes. Excellent reaction, and it's clear that you really enjoy power metal. I can't wait to see you react to bands like Band-Maid, Babymetal, Dream Theater, Polyphia, The Hu, and so forth. Please check out UtA's cover of Northwest Passage, and their Faster than Light and Tonight we Ride tracks.
If you ever do Babymetal, please start with Road of Resistance live in Japan. And remember to pause the video _often_ because they are notorious for blocking reaction videos to that song specifically. But it's the best introduction to them for a metalhead. Coauthored with one of the guys from DragonForce.

Brittney is VERY influenced by Geddy Lee in my opinion. The whole band seems to really work hard at tight discipline of riffs and harmonies, as Rush did.
Of course Brittney has a far smoother delivery and her stamina ("overdrive") plus higher range (absolutely on display when she sings opera), but she is not also playing bass (as Geddy Lee was) so not to compare.
