- I decided to recommend a video to myself that I found in my recommended section, and HOLY CRAP IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!
I was BLOWN AWAY by this band!
Sorry if the music volume was a little low, I had to change some settings when I moved to the new setup, It will be better next time!
Follow me on Instagram for car and photo content: @Focuth_RS
"I've really built this up now so it'd better be good!"
People who know UTA: "Proceed...."
hahahaha
The reason his voice is quiet is because it's the whisper of the Matriarch calling to the Immortal. The album tells a story, and this is the opening track. It keeps this level of awesome the entire way through.
Oh nice Insight!
Unreal album. Awesome from beginning to end!
Yeah, this album draws you in so deep once you find out / realize its about a single story of familial sacrifice for immortality. I still don't know who wins in the end though.
Ya and the clean guitar solo is the Immortal's response to the growly call of the matriarch and her more reverbed and chaotic solo.
@@Khorzho The story is unfinished. According to Brittney, they are working on a sequel album that was supposed to release in early 2020; I don't know if it got delayed due to all this COVID 19 business or what, but we should have a sequel album to continue the story later.
Just to clarify what happened in the Apex album, the Immortal completed the task for the Martirarch by retrieving all of her sons and she successfully completed the ritual to attain immortality, then the Immortal returned to his mountain and went back to sleep. I expect that in the sequel album, someone (my personal hope is that it will be the child of the Matriarch's only "good" son - the one from Earth and Ashes) will awaken the Immortal and task him with stopping the Matriarch, then we'll get an Immortal showdown.
Their whole 'Apex' album is a gift.
Ive got more by them to react to!
"Caaaaaaan yoooooou foooooooollow meeeeeeee?!"
Her voice is such a treasure.
Abyss is also a gift that keeps on giving.
Legit.
@@isaiahwelch8066 couldn't agree more
So is Abyss!
The scary thing is that she's not even really trying in this song.
the scary thing is i watched this guy react to this song
The Hu- Wolf Totem. they are a Mongolian metal band.
He can't go wrong with any of The Hu's videos, they haven't made a bad song..but I agree "Wolf Totem" is a good place to start ua-cam.com/video/jM8dCGIm6yc/v-deo.html
I think "Tonight we ride" should be next! This band is pure awesomeness! ;)
On my list!
@@BoostdReviews Can't wait! ;)
@@BoostdReviews react to one of their older ones that no one else does called Dawn of Ages
They do not look bored in this video trust me. Some higher notes from Britney in this one as well.
Dude yes! Tonight we Ride is faaaantastic!
It's always the little things. You noticing Brittany's smile at the end sealed the deal for me. That little grin she gives is the icing on the cake for the entire performance. It's just a classic nod to the audience, inviting them in to how much the band are enjoying their own performance, how much fun they're having, how much they love making this music. It's a beautiful piece of investment to everyone participating, band members and audience both.
Thanks for pointing out her nod to the viewers. Subscribed!
I've been a metalhead for over 35 years and UTA has completely captured my soul. This entire album is insane.
So um...."Cleanse the Bloodlines".
Oh...and "Cleanse the Bloodlines"
Did I mention........."Cleanse the Bloodlines"?
Oh and...one more thing......."Northwest Passage"
Since you loved this song I feel a responsibility to tell you that this is merely the OPENING song... of the greatest power metal album of the last 10 years, hell maybe the last 20, the album is called Apex and it’s one of my favorite albums of all time. Its a concept album and beyond just telling a very cool fantasy story, there simply isn’t a single mediocre song on the entire album they range from very good to just freaking great. This song is fantastic but the album has even better ones to offer. For my money the best is the final song and title track of the album, “Apex”. It’s epic and beautiful and heavy and just a perfect song you should give it a listen
This^^^^^^ The entire album is a journey of sheer brilliance. Also, the EP of Northwest Passage and Heartless world showcases Brittney's astounding range and talent.
Agreed Ryan. In my opinion, it's the greatest concept album (and maybe just the greatest album) since Queensryche's masterpiece Operation Mindcrime. It's flawless from start to finish.
@@mikesacklyn2372 THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS... ALL OF MY THIS.
Abyss is gonna be even better. Idk how
Cipher you weren’t wrong! It’s amazing!
Where to start?
Glad you checked this out. The entire album is incredible, and often a part of my workout sets.
Speaking of workouts - the band that beats UtA out as workout music is: Sabaton. I’d recommend them if you’re in the mood to check out something epic - and Joachim, the lead singer, was literally a guest singer on a track about weightlifting. They also have several incredible and cinematic music videos.
Insofar as best song to try... for cinematics, I’d recommend “Fields of Verdun”, “Bismarck”, and “Screaming Eagles” about the WW1 battle of Verdun, the hunt for and sinking of the German Battleship Bismarck (sponsored by World of Warships), and the 101st airborne stand at Bastogne at the Battle of the Bulge.
For just sheer energy, I’d look at the videos for 82nd all the Way, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Night Witches, or To Hell and Back. Despite the mediocre sound quality, the Woodstock (in Poland) live version of 40:1 is notable for it’s energy and sheer crowd size.
They also have a “Sabaton History” channel on UA-cam dedicated to the background of each of their songs.
Excellent job! You're rocketing to one of my favorite reaction channels. Again, love and hugs to Miss Barks-a-lot!
This reaction, sir, earned you another subscriber! Enjoyed it all the way till the end even though I already know this song in and out lyricwise. Stumbled over this band little over a year ago and it was the exact same song you just happened to enjoy :D
Keep this up, I like your style!
HILARIOUS reaction, you did a fantastic job of balancing out humor, with musical technique and commentary, with (very constructive) criticism, as well as enthusiasm, freaking. Loved. It.
Awesome song choice! Brittany Slayes opening vocals gives me goosebumps.
Me too!
New sub here. Love the reaction videos! Found you today, I've watched them all already. Had to comment on this one just for that absolutely killer cinematic shot right at end with the over-the-shoulder shot of the drummer. That's casual badassery.
More Unleash the Archers: General of the Dark Army and Cleanse the Bloodlines.
Excellent review! I love that you appreciated the, "Yeah!" vocal after Chorus 1 as much as I do every single time I listen to this song. It goes so overlooked by most. Your commentary on camera setup is spot on, as well.
Also, if I may, you may appreciate Nightwish for a whole different level of epic.
ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.html
Theyre up next!
@@BoostdReviews NICE!!
It genuinely warms my heart to see someone find them on their own, without UTA being suggested, and just fall in love with them. I hope you've gone on to listen to more of their songs since this video came out, in fact I'm headed to your channel to find out!
Brittany Slays is a vocal BEAST!!! And she is absolutely gorgeous too!! My dream girl! BTW Matt, you got a SICK ride, bro! Love it!
i feel you, omfg this song & band..man...pure greatness!! im instantly in love
Loved the reaction. It's nice to see someone super into the music and not just sitting still with a calm demeanor the whole time. I also appreciate that when you analyze parts, you 1: Actually know what you're talking about and 2: You don't take forever giving your two cents, so the video is never paused for too long.
Mate, the entire album is incredible
Continuing on our worldwide journey, let's head to New Zealand!...
Alien Weaponry is a thrash metal band from New Zealand. The three main members (aged 20, 18 and 18) are of Maori descent and sing in the Maori language. I've linked the song that really out them on the map. It's an amazing historical account of a battle between tribes.
Kai Tangata - ua-cam.com/video/5kwIkF6LFDc/v-deo.html
I second this! Alien Weaponry are fucking awesome!
Kai Tangata is a must-react for me. So unique. The Maori language honestly sounds like it was engineered for metal. UA-cam has good recs sometimes.
Yes to Alien Weaponry and their song Kai Tangata! They're so good!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Through the Fire & the Flames when watching this vid! Keep on reacting!
So. You recommended this to yourself, and by that, to me. Didn't know this band.
Great discovery man. Thanks.
Awesome reation bro! That little bass riff was all harmonics! Enjoying your reations, keep em coming! Tonight We Ride next!
Dude no way thats awesome. Glad you enjoyed! Thats on my list too!
After only 3 videos you have a more professional setup than a lot of other reaction channels who've been doing it for years. What a legend.
It helps that I had some of the equipment from being a photographer, but I wanted to see how I was received by everyone before I fully committed. But then I realized I could do this and with a little effort I could build a decent little setup!
It's amazing to me how many reactors are still discovering this band, considering this video was released almost 3 years ago. It's funny that you mentioned Dragonforce, because they just toured with them. It was short lived due to COVID but I was lucky enough to catch it out here in LA before the rest of the dates were cancelled. Even got pics with the band and a signed T! They are really cool and down to earth. I know you already put Tonight We Ride on your list. You're gonna love it!
That growl and smile at the end got me too !!!😍
Just found your channel! You're absolutely hilarious! This song was my personal favorite of 2017 so I definitely loved seeing you absolutely rock out to it.
I know u have alot of subs at 21k at my time of finding you. But out of all the review guys and gals I see and follow, yours are pretty spot on. Glad your covering uta jinjer and nw (nightwish). Love the content and honesty it kinda makes me wanna restart my channel and do something with it lol
Try Eluveitie - "Rebirth" for something different. Then if you like that one you ought to go check out Eluveitie - "A Rose For Epona" next.
Added to the list
@@BoostdReviews And when you do, it's a Hurdy Gurdy. You'll know why I mentioned it.
I second this recommendation!
rose for epona is amazing.. check out the hurdy gurdy player who sings most of that. Her new band is cellar darling..
love your reactions! and nice car to!
Thank you! 😃
So glad you have found this! Unleash The Archers are a bunch of AMAZING musicians and although I am not a power metal fan /I am more into death metal and stuff/ I think that their Apex album is a masterpiece! I recommend it!
You quickly become one of my favorite "reactors" on YT. Hope there are at least a few thousands thinking just like me. I'm really digging it. And Brittany is a fkn 11/10. Wish you all the best, and greetings from germany.
I really appreciate that! Hope I can maintain that!
Thanks for introducing me to a Canadian band that I didn’t know about. I’ll have to check this out on headphones 🎧 👍🏼
Cool reaction video from this cool American dude. I've seen this video reacted to many times. Really enjoyed the camera work analysis.
lol! I've seen this video a hundred times and her smile always gets me!
Some one to react to is Leo Moracchioli from the channel Frog Leap Studios. He is a basically a one man metal cover band, yes band he plays all the instruments. Occasionally he has other people in his videos and sometimes he has his family in his videos. He covers songs that you wouldn't think could be covered in metal but he makes it work plus he covers metal songs
Should start with Adele Hello.
"Feel good inc."
You should check out Unleash the archers- Northwest passage. I think you will appreciate the videography.
From what I hear, it's a song with great meaning to Canadians (UTA is a Canadian band if that wasn't clear). I absolutely adore Northwest passage, I'm actually getting ready to rock out to it while I run errands... now.
Great review dude, I just checked out your Jinjer reaction as well, good stuff. If you need some more suggestion for Unleash the Archers, my favorite band from Napalm Records next to Jinjer, here ya go..."Tonight We Ride", "Apex", "The Matriarch", "General of the Dark Army", "Cleanse the Bloodlines", "Test Your Metal", and "Northwest Passage". Dealer's choice you can't go wrong with any of these, keep up the good work dude.
Excellent review - great song. The beginning sounds like Symphony X to me. Love the RS by the way.
Thank you!
Absolute best part for me is watching the drummer on the kick drum. For the fast 16th notes he doublestrokes. Meaning instead of right foot the left foot its R R L L R R L L
Great reaction dude. I noticed the age difference and laughed to myself when you said “The dueling guitars reminded you of Dragonforce from way back in 2012” The first time I heard this song I thought to myself “The dueling guitars remind me of Helloween from way back in the 80’s.” The 1980’s. Hands down the best decade for Heavy Metal bands.
hahahaha "I need to go the store" epic. The soft male vocals in the song actually makes sense in the context of the song. The immortal (Britney) is in a cave and she hears her new master (the male vocal) calling her from far away and awakens her from a 1000 year sleep.. great reaction man. Arch Enemy - The Wold is yours or The Eagle flies alone should get your juices flowing as well.
Interesting, I didnt think of the vocals in that way. I still feel like they should have been more pronounced for listeners, however, thats a really unique stylistic decision and I can appreciate that.
Ill add that suggestion to the list!
Bloodywood- ARI ARI. They are a Indian street metal band. Hearing growling in Punjabi is a experience
Awakening is an incredible tune from Apex, one of my favorite albums of all time. They are such nice people, met them a couple years ago during a meet and greet. Took them some beer and snacks from Richmond, VA. By the way, nice car! I've got a 2014 Focus ST, such a fun car...though not nearly as fast as the RS.
New Sub here. 🤘🏼
I appreciate that you have more than a basic understanding of music. Your Photography input is interesting. Your personality is very engaging, and Mocha is an absolute cutie!
I don't know your musical history, so it's hard to know what to suggest. I watch A LOT of Reactors and I can suggest bands that have huge followings and tend to bring many Subs. You've already hit a couple with NightWish, Dimash, and Jinjir. Others: Metallica, TOOL, Home Free (and many of the other a cappella groups) and Chris Stapleton.
Cheers!
i'm glad you liked the video. once i thought about that you were a photographer i knew you would like this band. but you need to go back and look at the drummer's shirt it says "I'm a Bundy Junkie". the other thing i have noticed after watching other metal bands is that this drummer doesn't need a huge elaborate drum kit. he makes what he has sing. good luck on the channel and will keep an eye out for others
Yeah he was going to town on those drums! Thanks for the kind words!
Because I seriously love UTA and hope they get the hype they deserve: www.twitch.tv/brittneyslayesuta/ At the bottom is all of her social media which is pretty much the UTA social media. Also, she plays Link's Awakening sometimes.
Dude thank you UTA are now on my playlist
Now ya need to watch tonight we ride by these guys
Nice reaction, after you said you were a photographer- i couldn’t wait to see how you reacted to the bass hand tracking.
Should give Lovebites a look, all Japanese female power metal band.
Yeah that was like camera porn for me haha
Unleash the Archers is the best newer metal band there is. Most bands after 2000 are missing something. This band is incredible.
That bass harmonic rift is absolutely fire.
I wanna see more of that Focus RS.
I did the same thing. Saw this video on recommended of a Jinjer video and was blown away.
Brittney Slayes isn't just a great vocalist, she's also a straight up sweetheart. I don't care if you react to it, but watch her videos with Napalm explaining the Apex album, and her interviews with other UA-camrs. And yeah, that smile still kills me after watching/listening to this song 100 times.
I definitely will at some point!
The agonist in vertigo is napalm and opened for jinjer last November its a great song as well
Loving this videos. Try General of the Dark Army by this band, or Once Human - Davidian please. I'm following you now :D
I was lucky enough to catch Unleash the Archers with Dragonforce just a few days before everything got shut down due to Coronavirus. That was an amazing show and I totally developed a crush on Britney Slayes too. Her voice is even better live. Check out The Matriarch, Northwest Passage, and Apex if you want more.
Nice car man! I have a nitrous blue myself!
Since I first heard this song, about 2 years ago, UTA has become my favorite band. Apex, the album with Awakening as the opening track, is a perfect album. Since Apex, they've released an EP with 2 cover songs which are both amazing as well. And they were supposed to release the follow-up to Apex this year...
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but the bassist from this album is no longer with the band.
Next up, we are globe-trotting to India!...
If you want something different, check out Bloodywood. It's an Indian street metal band, with a bit of rap thrown in. Think Linkin Park or Rage Against The Machine, but with more curry. 🤘
These guys are very talented, funny as hell (they've done some metal parodies of popular songs) and many of their songs have really important social messages.
They have true integrity and actually put their money where their mouth is. Here are a couple of links for you to get to know them. Make sure you _always_ watch until the very end because they often have funny bloopers or very important social messages.
Ari, Ari - ua-cam.com/video/i4FqGPRQWFM/v-deo.html
Jee Veery - ua-cam.com/video/6uJoN_I9ebQ/v-deo.html
Machi Bhasad (Expect a Riot) - ua-cam.com/video/Gsy5sJy5_34/v-deo.html
Endurant - ua-cam.com/video/XfjTbY2NzsM/v-deo.html
Linkin park but with more curry XD That description is epic
Bloody wood is 🔥🔥🔥
Brittany is classically trained. She sang for a national choir in Canada. She sang wherever she was needed so her range is off the charts. Those backing tracks are her doubling herself and doing her own harmonies. I believe she is married to the drummer. They go thru bassists seems like daily.
They don't have a bad song on any album.
This is exactly why I visit technical reaction reviewers who cover Dimash - I discover incredible musicianship in genres that I would never find given my age and established tastes. This was an incredible performance that will cause me to go off on a new unexpected tangent on this artist. Thank you, @Boostd Reviews for covering more than simply the vocals and/or instrumentals - I enjoy your visual and other comments immensely.
Good choice! We'd have got to it eventually! JINJER - Teacher Teacher....
"The band of the Olympic athletes of musicians" so true.
did you know the drummer and singer are a couple? they are out of canada and they are super chill you could talk to them on any platform and they are more than happy to talk to you too. wholesome band with awesome music. glad you found them
Great song. Props to whoever recommended it.
That would be the UA-cam recommended section haha
Alestorm - Drink (Alestorm is ALSO on Napalm, but they're Pirate metal, fronted by a genius nutball Scotsman, Christopher Bowes.) :)
Gloryhammer - Hootsforce (Again, Napalm, but this band was founded by the aforementioned Christopher Bowes, who plays synths here.)
A couple of fun, relatively lighthearted metal pieces that I'm fairly certain you'll enjoy.
As an aside, if you're ever in the market for weird, look up "Christopher Bowes and His Plate of Beans" here on YT. :P
Cheers!
They're not jamming out because its a playthrough video. They're showcasing the technicalities. Its like a live rehearsal. This song or album needs absolutely nothing extra. Its perfect as it is. It's that way for a reason.
The reason you see some shots where they are laid back and chill and others where they are thrashing is because There's studio mode and performance mode. While in the studio it's all about perfection and precision because you're looking at at least $100 an hour to be in a studio. Performance is just having fun.
For an absolute insane machine of a drummer try the Tomas Haake drum cam video of Meshuggah - Bleed
Love your reactions and I really enjoy in your analysis of visuals :)
Also not trying to take anything away from Unleash the Archers, they are definitely near the top of my list of bands to see live asap
You want to have your mind blown a bit more about how amazing these folks are? Andrew, the red haired guitarist, has fantastic clean vocals. They use him on a couple of songs here and there. But it's rare, because he'd rather be shredding like a madman. Also, there is video of Brittney going out to a bar AFTER A SHOW and singing Queensryche songs karaoke. These people are the musical equivalent of superheroes. Also, super nice people, by all accounts.
Unleash the archers tonight we ride
Love the ride.
Unleash the archers are locals in me scene. They aren’t in my exact city but live on an island off the coast of where I’m from
Great reaction.. Good on ya
The guitarists aren't flailing around because it's a "band playthrough" video. It is to show the technicalities of playing, and it would be kind of hard to capture their finger work if they were jumping around.
Check out their song Cleanse The Bloodlines next 🤘
Brittney Hayes' vocals reminds me a bit of Steve Grimmett of Grim Reaper in this song. Excellent. As a bass player, I'm really intrigued by this bassist's right hand technique.
I love this band!!!
This is a great song to react to! Power Metal can do that to you lol
Another mandatory react is Nightwish. Usually people go with Ghost Love Score, and that is a great way to start it! But I think you'd appreciate Ghost River as well, for the duet going on there!
Nightwish Is coming up next!
Hey, after Jinjer and Unleash the Archers there is NO way you can get around Spiritbox!
Great canadian band that is pushing things forward in metal styles just as Jinjer. With another unbelievable twist, more on the art end of things. Horror themed "spooky-scary but also artsy-fartsy" most modern metalcore. You will enjoy it - I would bet on it.
Try Spiritbox - Rule of Nines first. Blow your mind. Totally. (Not exaggerating ... similarly surprising as Jinjer, but with a different twist and taste. Absolutely fantastic music, great new kind of style.)
I only know 1 song by Spiritbox, and its on my favorites playlist in Spotify! But it isnt the one you recommended, so Ill add that to the list
@@BoostdReviews Great! \m/
Rule of Nines is fucking amazing :-)
Little less than halfway in but I wanna recommend Tonight We Ride by them as the video alone would be more fun for you to watch of the band as well as that song is just sick! I love that you can also hear Maiden as well!
They have a bunch of great songs! Cleanse The Bloodlines & Tonight We Ride are bangers as well.
Interesting that you mentioned Iron Maiden. Unleash the Archers fall under a metal genre called Power Metal, a genre Iron Maiden is credited with creating.
You may enjoy Sabaton, particularly if you are interested in military history. I would recommend Bismarck from them to start off.
Tonight We Ride is another good one for Unleash the Archers.
You are doing really good reviews. Keep it up! One of the few reactionists I have decided to subscribe to.
If you really enjoy the technical side of things, you should definitely check out Allegaeon - "Gray Matter Mechanics" or their other song "Proponent for Sentience III".
Love your vids, bud. Subscribed!
HELL YAAA
Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars next.
Live rehearsal version from sonic pump studios 🤘
Perfect choice of self recommend :D You will get this suggestion from fans sooner or later anyway :D
I actually started getting it over and over again right after I recorded it haha!
I love that your first pause comes 2 secs before Brittany lets it rip! Love these guys. Ps KillswitchEngage and always more Bandmaid and LoveBites
Surprised no one recommended this! We usually do!
Loving the channel so far man!! I would love to see you react to Dragonforce Through the Fire and Flames if you haven’t already seen the video before. It’s pretty incredible
If you haven't done it yet, you need to check out their "Cleanse the Bloodlines". It's on constant repeat and has one of the most powerful choruses I've heard.
Best reaction ever to this song. Now Devin Townsend, Grace from the retinal circus live
Nice set up im please your room is clean 😎kat from south padra islanda. Tx
A duo of bands ... he is just starting down the rabbit hole isn't he lol
Britnay Slays
That is indeed the one that I did my reaction to! It should be out within the next couple days!
Sweet car!
