Thank you for this. How strong is the material? I don't plan on reefing on it like my life depends on it, but I am curious about the quality of materials. I basically need this because my wife's table vise swivels, rotates...and basically does too many things, but doesn't do the basics without a fight. All I need it for is to have a place to mount my wood for my dowel jig alignments. Long story short, I'm building a screen door for my enclosed porch because the entryway is a non-traditional measurement, IE: 37 1/2 x 78 /12.
It's pretty sturdy and a bit heavy actually. So it does the same as your wife's but you can lock everything down so you should be fine. The only thing I can suggest is a sturdier table. As you saw I was using a ver small table. Other than that it's a nice little vice. You don't need to fight it after you grease it.
