@@zoeledwards6617 To go with what OP said, SH2 does tend to get overhyped. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I don't think it's the best in the series. I actually think SH4 and SH1 have it beat.
I love how the odd numbered games in the series (Silent Hill 1 and 3) are connected with each other, and how the even numbered games (Silent Hill 2 and 4) are connected as well.

Even though SH3 really feels like it capped off the original series in general, SH4 is definitely so cool and interesting in the major ways it’s different. The devs really deconstructed the game progression formula and rearranged it into something that limits and restricts the player in ways to make you feel helpless, but it’s a carefully designed journey. And the room itself will always be unforgettable. The monsters and horror aren’t just a danger for people around the town of Silent Hill and the ‘otherworld’ anymore. It’s in your bedroom, in your home, literally “in your walls”. It’s breathing right in your face, you can’t even retreat to the comforting isolation of your home.

Most games have a "home base" save point, that serves as a safe area to heal up, manage inventory, plan your next strategy, and relax.
SH4 takes that away from the player halfway through the game, so that even your familiar "safe space" is trying to kill you--- there's NO ESCAPE.
Genius-level psychological horror... I've never stopped thinking about "The Room" since I played it 10+ years ago.
Room of Angel is a song that has stuck with me.
In Silent Hill 1, you can find a save point and a VCR inside room 302 in the alternate version of Alchemilla Hospital.

I just replayed SH4. I had totally forgotten how amazing the ending is. I got the "21 sacraments" ending. And after going trough the game that ending just feels evil.
I love the fact that after all these years I still find new things about this game.
Another neat fact is that in the game house flipper you can actually clean and fix up room 302!
Escape From Tarkov has a quest for Streets that brings you to the Room 302 door. The quest is called "The Door"
Silent Hill 2 and 4 have the best music and psychological horror.
Both are my favorites in the series.

I thought I knew everything about this game and, yet, you still managed to surprise me with many of them
hmmmm, my favorite Silent Hill.
Then it must be frustrating that it’s such a uniquely different game from the series that hasn’t been replicated since, I think because of just how specific of an uncomfortable artistic vision it has and it wasn’t afraid to turn everything about the original games on its head. SH3’s my fav but I’d love to see more works inspired by it and its original, innovative ideas improved and expanded upon. The only similar game I can think is Yume Nikki, where a girl refuses to leave her bedroom and enters a dream world whenever she sleeps, full of weird creatures, creepy places and things that seem to hint at or represent past trauma, abuse, and the psychological damage/PTSD those things manifested in her mind. If you don’t know it, it inspired Undertale and Omori almost as much as Earthbound did but it never gets the same recognition and credit

SH4 suffer from backtrack but overall it's a great game
The first half is kinda bland. The second half gave me nightmares for years and really had an impact on my Life.

A very underrated game to be sure. It did suck that it did not even take place in silent hill, but the lore and room hauntings was fantastic as well as the simplified combat.

7:15 it's worth noting that in SH4 it's spelled Rachael with an extra A but it in SH2 it's spelled Rachel with just one A. So they're probably different characters but with a very similar name.

Truth be told SH4 Is a phenomenal game . I enjoyed it more than SH3 & the original silent hill . Pt 3 was just to dark & hard to maneuver . Part 1 was just hard in general puzzles ( piano ) was exhausting. Silent hill 2 was definitely the best . The room was its own nitch & great story
I dissagree with You on SH1...but it's so refreshing to se someone givin' love to SH4
SH4 is definetly great. But imo SH3 is by far the best one.
