My Dearest Mother, Today was the day I saw my first combat and what a day it was ! First, I make to Harper’s Ferry with my new company. Then, I was told to go to the Quartermaster’s tent and when I did I was given the shiny, brand new Whitworth Rifle ! Later that evening I sat down to what was probably the nicest spread of food I’ve seen since I left home. Cornbread, Beans, Bacon, salt pork, captured Yankee coffee. Then came the next couple days, constant fighting everywhere, I even saw a NC Cav unit charge into a defiant enemy holdout and brush them away like the hand of God. Got to go now Ma, Give Pa my best and let him know I’m doing the family name proud, I must’ve felled at least 3 or 4 Yankees already ! Love your son, Private Bartholomew Smith. 15 Virginia Regiment, McLaws Brigade, Cheatham’s Division, Army of the Peninsula P.S. I also got to meet our Army Commander General Mowery and I gotta say, he’s probably the handsomest feller I’ve met in the Army haha ! I’ve got good feelings about this man, not just some blockhead General too stubborn to listen to his men like some of the Yankee officers.
Hey Chief LOVE your content and was happy to catch your live stream the other day (I was the one going on with *Prussian Noises*) just letting ya know I love Great War history soooo… Subscriber number 1.1k+ here !!!
I think in order to get promoted to Major general you will need to aquire a higher level of command, atleast thats how it was when i played and was waiting on a promotion.
Maybe your name is at the bottom of Jefferson Davis’s list of people to promote even though you spent the prestige. Maybe whenever the new year happens in the game you will be promoted to Major General. Whenever you do you should transfer a small army the the one you originally took command of to your army to strengthen your divisions since some only have 2 brigades while some have 4 brigades. You should also create more divisions under your command. Maybe if Longstreet isn’t a Lt. general you could transfer him to command a new division. Btw the part about Jefferson Davis is supposed to be funny.
A very well worked major victory at Harper's Ferry. A real shame your helping armies were not under your command. I think attaching a battery of Williams' guns to each of your infantry brigades would greatly enhance the brigades. I feel that a successful recruitment campaign might net you your promotion. You are the Confederacy's defenders of western Virginia from Harper's Ferry to Stanton. You are greatly outnumbered. I like that you've standardised your army around the lorenz rifle. Anyone armed with anything else should get Whitworths. Those two smaller forces should transfer their commands to your army. Probably will not due to your rank. You may need to build your own munitions buildings. The depressing thing is that it would appear the Confederacy is importing all its infantry and cavalry weapons. Part of me is tempted to say 'screw it' and transfer the entire command into the Army of Shenandoah (since that armies the one whose job you're doing) and then using your prestige to take over command. Winter quarters be damned man. You should pull a Lee and make a totally reckless and unsanctioned attack into Union territory. Unlike Lee, you've just won a battle of Antietam.

Couldn't help but notice the name poffenberger....I know some Maryland poffenbergers. Wonder if their related?? I'm a Martin from before America was even thought.
You havent shown your camp management. At the start of the campaing I always put 4h to recruitment to help replenish the troops. Later on I still keep 2h in it. You should probably check what you can do in politics cause there are some things to help supply and manpower issues, like farm mechanisation and infrastructure. You should use some prestige to get 6 gun batteries too in there.
I remember you mentioning you were able to disable the Readiness mechanic. What did you do for that? Im having issues with it not letting me or the AI move.
I had a battle where the an overall army took I think 40% to 50% casualties before they started to pull out had I think about 80% percent at the end, AI can be rather stubborn like that.
Basically when you are attacking they hold the objectives, and its hard to push them out off them. As long as they hold the objective, they tend to keep fighting so you end up doing massive casualties but are mostly limited due to ammo.

Are you able to use the camp feature to spend more time on logistics improving your supply situation?
Yes, it's one of the things you can allocate hours in the day towards.

How do you move commanders independently from their brigade or division never mind I found VTH’s tutorial for it.

You get the option nowadays when starting a new campaign, there's a set of checkboxes for options.
I'm not seeing the link to the new channel. Anyone else?
you would think that the ai would pull there division out when they take 30% casultys let alone 52%

Lol, sir, 8% + 14% = 22%. Compared to the unions 23%, its quite even.
We should make a mod for this game that let's you use air strikes
