@AnxiousBaits Thanks buddy, appreciate the feedback. Want to do a few more bucktail uploads this year. It's ironic as I tie 10-20 just about every day! LoL
Very good video, learned a couple new ideas! As a master Rod Builder with 40 + years this came easy to me. Tied maybe a dozen or so and already I’m impressed with the results but always looking to improve. Thank you
@@kenhoever8245 thanks for the feedback always appreciated! Nothing beats making your own lures...then catching on them! The addiction is real! Best of luck n tight lines!! :-)
@@kenhoever8245 it's a thin Latex type thread used in the clothing industry. I buy it from a local craft shop that sells everything sewing related. Hope you come right.
Hi. Thanks for the video. Beautifully presented, well done. I wish I had seen this before I tried tying some. We are are going to Port St Johns in 3 weeks time. Please can you give me some tips re the retrieval . We are going to target Garrick and Kob. We will also try for grunter. I also enjoyed your video on top water lures. Heinz
Just found your tying videos and really appreciate your clarity. I too am left handed and new to this hobby. I was hoping to see you do a whip finish but you have introduced me to a new finishing process. Also, can you provide a bit more info on the thread you use as a base layer, etc? I’d like to try it. Thanks again.
Hi CGC, glad you enjoyed the video! Where in the wonderful world of fishing are you based? I started tying bucktails after watching UA-cam videos and then made a few new ideas along my path! The thread I use as the base layer is sourced from a local craft / hobby shop. It is a latex thread, very similar to latex bait tying cotton, but slightly thicker and much stronger. I'm told it is used in needlework where some elasticity is required in the stitch work?? Regards, Brett
@@trophytails HI Brett, I live in Michigan, USA. I like the idea of sparing the expensive thread so I will do some hunting around. Maybe at a quilting shop. They might have something that fits the bill. Is it elastic or no stretch at all?
@@cgc6761 Not the same material, but looks and feels the same as the thickest bait cotton. You will not find the material in the fishing industry wholesale / retail. I own a tackle store and have never seen it listed. It is used in needle work. I purchase mine from an arts and crafts shop which has a huge supply of yarns, threads, cottons and the likes.
@gregthompson9075 I'm not actually sure, it's just one I picked up 2nd hand along the way. I use to use a simple Crown Vice, but this one with the rotation head is a winner and makes life a lot easier!
Hi Albert, the flair is quite slight on these Minnow Heads, I tied some Smiley Heads recently and wow, they flair! The flair is quite popular in our local waters, especially when chasing Garrick in our rough winter seas.
Great video going to try that one myself!
Tied really well!

Hi Brett,
So, would this be the latex Cotton Pro? If so, what thickness and what is a standard spool size that will fit a bobbin?

Hi. Where do you get the white lead heads?
Evening Heinz, I cast, paint and tie all the Trophy Tails Leadheads and Bucktails myself.
what brand vise is that you use ?

@@trophytails thank you for the reply, i am looking for a decent vise that can hold 2/0 to 8/0 hooks for buck tails i tie.
Great video but please kill the music. Would rather hear you than the annoying background noise.
I dont like theflair otherwise nice.
