The rise in Sabine ECL is a direct result of Rebel Assault addition....it effectively gives her the ability to double action more often and get/keep initiative (which is why Aggression Leia is in decline because Sabine can do what she does, only better). If you can't keep Sabine down to one unit in play, you're going to be in real trouble.

The total sample size here makes it a very biased scale. One very good combo is a mono Yellow Thrawn. His ability to just shut down and exhaust units is a direct counter to any aggro rush. There are several cobinations I saw on this chart that were never tried, and once people use them it will bring down that sabine meta percentage for sure. Another thing is this league was started before the full card list was announced, so the buildable decks have changed as the league progressed if im not mistaken.
In general, yes, Cunning decks, and in particular Thrawn and Boba should match up well vs aggro, but, this is mostly conclusions drawn from data collected in pre-Rebel Assault matches. Before Rebel Assault, Leia was a bit more in favor, because she could double attack. This allowed her to get around exhaust tech, to some extent, by taking the initiative, attacking twice and then reclaiming the initiative, which reduces the effectiveness of exhaust tech. Now Rebel Assault gives Sabine that ability in a much better red/green shell with ECL, than what Leia can play with Tarkin Town. I think we'll see that it's going to be more important to remove units vs Sabine than simply exhausting them. If she starts a turn with two units in play, you're always in danger of taking a lot of base damage, before you can do anything. I actually think the biggest advantage Cunning decks have is more robust space units which makes it more difficult for aggro to apply pressure in space.
@@owlxoggest6247 I made an ECL sabbine and tested against thrawn yellow. Went 9-0, dont know what else could be done tried different cards but the pressure is so big they slowly chip away and lose inevitably get super aggroed or get control but its too late by remaining 2-4 p. Rebel assault is king in that matchup. Perhaps thrawn with blue would be better? need to test. Also with boba green when i ramp on turn 2 with technician ecl or ressuply i win when i dont see the ramp i lose to sabine so far.
@@sparta1821 I think when actual mid range decks start to show up, we'll see a decline in Sabine, but I think people are still not quite locked in on what their leader should be doing. And there is the fan factor where you have a good chunk of players that like the IP and are playing bad decks.
One thing I have seen and have been trying to push is Steadfast Battalion with Chirrut or Boba as those have the capability of changing the momentum of the game at a critical phase...also Leia playing more midrange and conceding the aggro status to Sabine tends to improve Leia's win rate in that match up
boba is just a beast of a leader basically feeds off resources.. sabine is crazy good also -
If you look at a lot of the Sabine wins near the end of the tourney, most are against some of the weaker decks, or mirror matches. Not many Sabine/Boba games (I see 2 losses there) which prolly skewed that win% against Boba pretty high. Still think Boba is probably the best counter into Sabine.
Mirror matches are worse for the win rate as it would be both a win and a loss for the deck.

So curious how this will work out in my locals.
Im not sure how long these games havw been going on. I just went with boba because hes a favorite from the current pool of leaders. So im curious if the popularity is for the same reason or not. Havent played the game enough to get a feel for matchups but sabine seems pretty oppressive.
I think this will probably be very similar to SW games in the past. You tend to get a pretty wide spectrum of players ranging from fans of the IP, playing their favorite leader from the movies/shows/books, to the ultra-competitive gamers looking for a new game. I recommend preparing for both extreme ends of that spectrum to keep the game alive in your area as long as possible
@@owlxoggest6247 yeah I hope it stays lively in my locals because it's such a different game from the current games being played. It does make sense for the popular leaders to be the most common especially in a big IP. And I'm glad the boba leader is pretty strong. Just hope the game has a good range of adaptability. Right now with my very limited experience it does seem anything aggressive has the upper hand. But could just be tempo at the start while we adapt to the gameplay.
Tower thanks for the breakdown. What is the best deck to counter sabine green in your opinion. I really had hoped the emperor would have been a much better leader 😢
Boba is still good vs her
If you want to counter Sabine in particular I think the first decks that I would look to would be Boba or Iden with Aggression. While these leaders are often played with Command, using Aggression gives you more options for answering early aggro via cards like Force Choke, First Legion Stormtrooper, Imperial Interceptor, and Open Fire. Boba Red can use the ISB Agent + Tarkintown combo to really give aggro a major setback early in the game, while Iden Red has a lot of healing and removal.
We are trying a Leia blue heal Deck, but Not enoght Data Jet.
If it ends up being a "if you can't beat them, join them" scenario with Sabine, getting good at the mirror will be important
Cunning (Yellow) has a lot of utility to just exhaust units before they can actually attack. So i would look there if you want to just exhaust an aggro
