      @@brydonalbers168 unfortunately I don’t have first hand experience with a boy, but friends who have EC’ed with boys said that have kind of “leaned” boys over in order to help them aim. Hope that helps!

    👍 I'm a preschool teacher and so many kids are afraid of the potty! Even if nothing happens when they are on the potty, it's still so beneficial to establish early, regular, positive, potty time.

    I did EC with my boy- I used a potty called the “baby throne” from 3 months- and it can go right on the toilet or on a base- I highly recommend it! I also used the top hat in the beginning👌

    Great! We tried with our 13-month-old toddler 5 weeks ago and she took it right away, but only for number 2. She still pees in her diapers, but it's been 5 weeks since the last time she pooped in her diaper and now she asks for the potty when she needs it (by going there). Great technique and all it takes is really just trying with no pressure! (god we love not having stinky diapers anymore!). Thank you!

    Coming from a culture that does EC as a norm, my mum tried to give me advice on EC when my first which I completely ignored.. What would she know right?... But toilet training my elder was a nightmare (at age 3 to 4) and I was determined to give it a go with my second. Omg I can't believe it actually quietus, this video has been great, the easy catches are a great way to start.

If weʻre out for a longer time, weʻll take a seat reducer and let her use the potty on that too! We are definitely parents who like to be out and about, so just do what works for you! For my son he would go a couple times a night untill about 2.5 months then Im guessing his bladder muscles were stronger and he stopped going untill he awoken in the morning so then I stopped offering toilet before night feeds. Pooping in the first weeks at night. Wasn't long before that stopped.
      Sometimes in morning he will pee in nappy when he's half awake and still sleepy, that's fine it comes off pretty fast easier when they are alert.
      Sometimes can wait a couple minutes for them to relax to be able to. But if taking to long there probably not ready so give them a break and come back I just do activitys with him out side holding him a way that it doesn't matter if he pees and when he does make the cuing sound to keep up association.
      If your timing if right they will pee right away I often have to cue for him to relax and poo.
      And relax myself as they feel what you feel!

      I have seven children, all grown up. I loved cloth diapers. My children had extremely sensitive skin. They got the yeast diaper rash so easily. They got rashes much more often when I used disposable diapers. I even had to use diaper pins back then. Only with my last did I get the new style.

      My second baby had severe eczema and was allergic to every disposable diaper under the sun. We cloth diapered with her and had no issues after making the switch. Definitely should consider it. From experience with my kids, as far as rashes go cloth diapers are the way to go. There aren’t any added chemicals or perfumes, and no plastic, so I’m not entirely sure where you heard that cloth diapers cause rashes, but for us that wasn’t the case at all and my kiddo was very very sensitive.

    It's the first time I'm hearing about EC and it's been enlightening. I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with:
    1. For how long do you leave your baby on the potty when you're testing if he/she pees or poops?
    2. If you try to catch pee and poo on the potty, I guess that at some point Baby associates pee and poo with potty. A) Do you still use diapers? B) How do you handle EC on the go (travelling, at a restaurant, at a friend's house)?

    This is so interesting! So what do you do for more unique situations like traveling or being out of the house for a long amount of time? I'm thinking of road trips and hiking etc. If baby is used to having frequent
    opportunities to use the potty
    would it be distressing for the baby to go a long time without a potty?

      Alisa! I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to reply! My apologies! Thank you for watching. :) We use a diaper back up most of the time, and when we take baby to the potty, we try not to stress about it but give her opportunities to go! In my thinking, a baby is just like us as adults. If we have to use the bathroom so badly that we cannot wait, we will go--and thatʻs what baby does in the diaper! We love taking baby out to the beach and park here in Hawaii (as COVID allows). I hope you and your family are staying safe and well!

    • @lovejoy_23
      @lovejoy_23 3 роки тому

      My son was exclusively pooping in the toilet at 18 or 19 mos and at 3yrs old hasn’t had any constipation since he became more mobile around 7/8 mos.
      Being able to control when they go definitely helps to a degree with constipation, especially for those who hold it due to poop or potty anxiety. Constipation can be due to a combination of things though. Lack of fiber, quantity of food, hydration, good gut bacteria and lack of physical activity can all affect regular bowel movements.

    Geat video, just 1 correction, that´s not the function of the antidiuretic hormone, its function is to maintain an adequate level of water in the body so it can function properly (pee less if you are dehydrated). The urge to pee is something mechanical related to de distension of the bladder.
    Btw, this technique is very ecological.

    If a baby goes to daycare, will they get confused by going potty in the diaper at daycare and in the potty at home? This is so cool! If I ever have kids I will definitely try this!

    • @mendicantcrow
      @mendicantcrow 3 роки тому +1

      I used to work at a daycare, and honestly I think for children so young, the ratio of adults to kids would actually be great for continuing EC at daycare (the youngest age group at my daycare required 2 adults for every 3 babies, or more accurately 1 adult per 1.5 babies), and it would be less cleanup than diapers in some ways! I would have rather helped babies use the potty than clean as many diapers for sure! Maybe if you have kids, consider asking if your daycare could accomodate?

    How is it not a lot of cleanup when you have to wash out a container each time and sterilise it every few days and also wipe baby’s bottom…. It’s kinda the same at least or more work than a diaper and wipes…. But as for the early potty training, this seems good I guess

      Thank you for watching! Some people choose to place a top hat underneath baby's bum while feeding. Personally, I didn't worry about it and just did the timing/easy catches like when we changed diapers at the beginning and when I was recovering!

    I’m worried for those times baby isn’t with mommy or daddy, will a day of no “toilet” confuse or irritate baby once we all find our rhythm with EC.

    • @lilys.5268

      Great question! I would love to know the answer as well. I’m guessing one day without EC wouldn’t throw them off, but if it became a consistent thing (like new nanny/daycare/etc) then maybe it could become an issue. That’s just a guess though, I honestly don’t know for sure!

      I guess it depends on who has baby. My daughter did EC from 4 months old. This was 7 years ago. My mum learnt about her easy catches and I also taught her nursery about it too. It was new to them but they went along with it and were really shocked with the results! And on days when she was for instance, with my brother who didn't EC, I'd simply EC in the morning and the evening and she was completely fine. Good luck x

    Poop sign is the hardest for me because when I take her to the potty she would get up after peeing and then when she is being breastfed, she immediately pops off the breast and poops right then and there so I don't even get the time to take her to the potty 😓

      Try a different toilet perhaps or cushy toilet topper for comfort. Try a book, song, toy or person that makes him happiest, can make him laugh or calm him easily. My son did that a few times and I had to used different methods. Nursing him while he was on the seat helped calm him too at times. Haha
      For us, whenever we’re trying new things and he’s uneasy, my husband is the key to making the experience really fun for him and giving him that bravery I guess he needs sometimes to be comfortable with new things. With me he seems to generally be more apprehensive of new experiences and places (even though I’m not that way or overprotective), but with my husband he’s ALL in. A completely different boy.

    I have 5 kids and 8 grandkids and I can honestly say that having a baby potty trained at 17 months old is no big deal and doesn't start at birth. I laughed so hard when I seen your video about potty training at birth and you saying she was potty trained at 10 months now you say 17 months just wondering which one it is. I know from experience and being around and having my own children that it is impossible for a baby that can't walk and communicate to be potty trained. How will they tell you they have to go potty if they can't talk? Fully potty trained means that they can tell you they have to go and no more accidents. So if someone else is watching them they will tell them they have to go potty. I wish new moms would start embracing their childs need to develop at their own pace and help them along instead of pushing them. Trust me you sitting her on the toilet at birth had nothing to do with her going potty now. My first son was walking at 13 months and potty trained by 18 months. 2nd son was walking at 9 months and potty trained by 13 months. 3rd child was walking at 14 months and potty trained by 24 months. 4th child was walking by 7 months and potty trained by 10 months. 5th child was a still born so not stats there sorry. My granddaughter whom had a 16 year old mom was walking by 6 and half months and potty trained by 10 months. She ended up having to get shots to go to daycare and got really sick from them and ended up back tracking and had to be re potty trained and now takes speech classes all because of shots, we almost lost her she was in and out of the hospital. Can you imagine how if that happened to you how you would feel knowing you pushed your baby so fast to grow up and then lost her at the blink of an eye? Just saying nurture your baby and quit pushing her for videos, you will never get back wasted time and you will regret it. I guarantee it!! Congrats on your cloth diaper business I hope it goes well for you and your family. My advise to new moms is social media isn't all that matters, there is a real live human that needs you and all of you love and comfort, spend less time on drama and how to speed up the growing on your baby and enjoy what you will never have again. With each baby it is different and with each moment spent enjoying your baby will bring you more happiness than any social media post ever will.

      Totally agree! I was so confused by this video. Babies cannot be fully potty trained until they are neurologically ready. The first year is devoted to growth and rapid development. They can make faces and noises but don’t expect them to be fully potty trained before age 2. If they are great. If they aren’t no worries. Parents should not “push” them to be potty trained. It’s sometimes the preschools that will not accept a child until they are potty trained, which is completely ridiculous! This just puts a lot of additional stress on both parents and babies.
