I've had it for over 20 years too, and it used to be the most stable and well thought-out DAW, now it's garbage as far as stability, but has a ton of new features for the musically impaired, who haven't even bothered to learn basic chords. I wish they would make a separate, less bloated app for those who don't have the time or interest to learn the most basic music skills, and leave all that bloatware out of their flagship version. But I guess money was the only point of Yamaha acquiring it, and running on it's previously great reputation as a DAW for actual musicians. Now it's all about getting the next release out, so you can give them more money, and have to relearn the interface again every year. They also had to abandon the most stable 64 bit operating system, and force us into windows 10, and I expect the even more pathetic windows 11 soon.
I hate that lower zone, Steinberg only did it to attract more Ableton users. I have my preferences set to always open my full key editor on double click or hitting enter. I know about the in place but haven't used it yet. I like the idea of it being that you can see arrangement around it. I will give it a try this week. Thanks for the heads up
@@Mixedbydrg I use a 34 ultra wide monitor and a large tv as my monitors. For me clicking my enter button to toggle open a full screen editor is fast enough and allows me to see everything clearly.
I've known about this, but always thought it was too small to work with. I need the full screen. However, clicking control on the note to select all the notes of a given pitch? Priceless. :) Thank you.
Omgggggggggggggg I never ever knew this was a feature. This is why CUBASE always will be the best daw everrr. I’m over here screaming like a little girl lol. Man I love CUBASE
Okay, so I didn't know this! Thanks Dom! Whenever I'm sampling drums and some hits are not triggered properly, or they trigger from bleed hits and I don't need them, it was very time-consuming to add / remove individual notes... This sure is a game changer!
Thank you, Dom. I use Cubase since about 15 years but every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new. I really appreciate your teaching and how you turn complicated things into easy. Great channel that I can't do without anymore. 🔝👍
Yes! I use this wonderful Inplace Track Editor view since Cubase SX or C 5... ;) Most of the time I don't need other Midi Editors. Highly recommend. And you can use the range tool and place the play head !!!
Had a bit of trouble doing this until I left clicked in the track control settings and selected 'edit in place' then selected apply .. all good and nope, I never knew this was a thing .. thanks Dom handy to know 😉
Hi Dom. I did not know about these features in Cubase. I am still trying to learn just the basic features of recording in Cubase. Its starting to look like I am going to learn some engineering aspects of Cubase as well. I am also starting to go back and watch many of your videos over again, that I like in general, to duplicate what you do so much that I want everything that I have learned to become second nature to me. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. It is most helpful to us all. Have a wonderful day Dom.
Really did not know this, and been using cubase for over a decade 😂 Thanks a ton! You have the best Cubase tutorial content on youtube easy, even though my main gig is metal production.
Thanks for the tip Dom. Didn't know about it. I've been using the "Link Project & Editor Zone cursors" button. That also helps if I want to see the midi I'm editing in the context of the arrangement.
Ha, I didn't even know about the Ctrl+click to make the MIDI editor full screen. I'm always scrolling the lower zone up and down and it was getting frustrating, Thanks Dom. Its amazing how many things you overlook when you've been using a tool for years.
See why i love this guy? i have been looking for this for the longest time.. i used it alot back when i used Cubase 5, but just couldnt find the same option and it was there all along. dumb me. thanks Dom.. u d best!
@@DomSigalas hey boss. You haven't made anything pertaining to Dolby atmos mix and export in depth. Also where is your studio address and how much per recording session and all. Is there somewhere we can communicate better?
Great for visually lining up MIDI events with Recorded Audio events. Other than that, I prefer the key editor. It really depends on your screen real estate...it can be a bit fiddly on a small screen!
Wow! Guilty as charged Dom Dadda. I did not know about this feature, I was asking myself the question of how to make the 'edit in place' feature appear when you said "I know you're going to ask this question" lol...Yes, a very usefful tip for a fluid workflow. Huge thanks brother for spreading the Cubase love....Peace : )
Hi Dom, Use it all the time, virtually everything I do is MIDI only, it just makes everything so easy, and of course everything is in sync in the view. Yet another feature that helps to make Cubase the best DAW there is for MIDI (and everything else IMO!)
Dom, man, I started working on Nuendo when it was called just Nuendo. Before Nuendo 2 came out. You have taught me so many features that I had no idea had been implemented. Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!
👋👍👍dear Dom,thank you sooo much for your fantastic tips and tricks all about cubase, groove agent and more 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍 you are a true master and now you have another great fan of all your stuff☝️😀😀😀stay healthy and carry on, greetings from Germany 🤩👍👍
Dom, thank you, man! Will you do a tutorial on the Audio Setup screen (including "Advanced") of the Studio Setup window? What's the best setting for ASIO guard, etc.? Very intimidating ... thank you as always
Thanks very much Dom. 'Link Project and Lower Zone Cursors' is another useful function as well, and those track controls in the list can be moved up and down by just directly dragging them. Steinberg is really making things more convenient.
How did I not know Ctrl clicking on the piano roll selects those notes.. 😆 Been a user since v4 VST, then SX series on and was clueless. Love a new (old) trick. A related tip I could offer that might be useful for some: once a project gets going I find myself frequently editing certain combinations of instruments together. Multiple midi editor windows can be open, each with certain groups of instruments displayed so they can be quickly modified together to maintain relationships better (ie, flute, clarinet, and violin parts in one, percussion elements in another, with cello, basses and bass clarinet in the third). Having 3 windows open at once is about the most I can do and still be effective with my screen real estate, but this can be saved as a Project Workspace layout (since these groups will be very different for every project) and then it's easy to bounce between a traditional workflow and these custom groups with a click. Hope this makes some sense! Hard to explain stuff like this without video sometimes, and I'm no Dom..
AHHH HAAAA!!!!! You're not fooling anyone!!! I have used Cubase for about 135 years and I've never seen this feature before ..... anywhere ..... and I watch a lot of "How To" videos on MeTube!!!! Don't think that we don't know you have just added this yourself and snook it in without Steinberg noticing!!! A very nice feature that will be very useful in the future. Thank you again!!! 😉
Brilliant video dom…I’ll give this a try I knew about it but as I’ve always used editing at bottom of screen it is frustrating to use if got a lot of channels, this will be much better I think
Cubase has some great feature I just really wish they had a floating window like FL where you can just drag a drum sound and it will start a new pattern lane with its own steps, with the ability to be opened in all the other options but in the workflow of the moment. It really takes away from the flow having to opening a plug-in, find the window, drop the sound in and then open the midi window. That’s like 5 steps opposed to just dragging a sound, and all of a sudden there’re steps in view for you to program instantly. Hopefully cubase gets something like that in future. In my opinion it’s why I think a lot of people stay away from Cubase because musicians just want to work fast and going through all these different complex windows can completely kill the vibe.
I've had Cubase since 5 and had no idea about this! Thank you! I just wish Cubase allowed automation to be on top of clips like in Pro Tools, rather than in separate drop down lanes below. What does the "[> Padshop" button on the track do?
@@EdwinDekker71 Hey, sorry for the late reply. I use Cubase Pro 12 and just did this but all it seems to do is turn on & off the midi modulation from the clip inside the drop down track automation lanes. I want it to be like Pro Tools where you can just have the one track lane with the clips on and the track's volume automation floating on top of the clips. Meaning no need to click the drop down arrow to open a separate lane just from volume automation.
I have been using that feature for the last 5 years. Admittedly, not very often, but I know about it and I use it sometimes because it is very handy. 😀👍
