HOW TO: Audi B5 S4 Oxygen (O2) Sensor Change / Removal & Replacement

- I had a CEL (check engine light) come on and used my VAG-COM from RossTech to figure out that my Driver Side Pre-Cat O2 sensor was shot. In this video I show you how to remove your old O2 sensor and replace it with a new one. Remember, this is the only O2 sensor that is a major PITA on the B5 S4. Save yourself from paying the dealer a fortune and use this video.

I might need to change mine out. my gas mileage is pretty bad and she's been idling little rough. it's just weird I don't have any 02 codes. would be nice to know which bank needs to be replaced. going to start with the plugs tho.
Hello, thanks for the video. One of my car had CEL code for "too lean" condition, OBD2 scanner found really high LTFT (15%). I troubled shoot and found out it was caused by a bad O2 sensor. Replaced it and fixed the problem. I have another car (2001 BMW 330I at 160K mileage). LTFT and STFT of both banks are ~ 0%. My question is that if 0% LTFT is always a clear indication of good O2 sensor? Thanks much.
Hey man thanks for the video. I have a question, I have an 1998 Audi A4 Quattro, which is in the same B5 build, but according to the Amazon link of the O2 sensor you put up it says it will not fit my car. Which is odd because I was under the impression that parts among all B5 vehicles were interchangeable. So is my information wrong, or Amazons?
Have the same light and have yet to get my friend to read what is wrong with it..seems to drive prefect though. once replaced does the light just go off on its on or do you need to reset it?

I actually sold this B5 S4 back in April because I wasn't able to drive it much. I do miss it...
dungeonmotorsport Sad!!! This car was looking amazing! What would you recommend a Diesel car or gasoline? Not driving much mostly shopping and weekends. I saw that you can save a lot with diesel engines but I don't know if you get the same power and fun as with the gasoline ones. I'm mostly looking for mercedes CClass and BMW serie 3. Thanks!!

Ok next question good sir, I have a 2003 a6 awd Quattro 2.7 twin turbo. Both mine are shot on the left (passenger side) I can see the pre cat o2 sensor, but where in the world wide web do the freaking wires go to coming from the sensor end up at???? I tried to trace the wire but they seems to go down towards the back of the engine and then a stupid black hole eats them,,, I cant trace the wires for cr@p, please help,,,,,
