Hello, What a great piece o kit that is, There's something therapeutic about watching rust & crud blasted away. I can remember back in the day Me & dad made a sand blasting cabinet out of one of those plywood tea chests that were everywhere back in the day, two holes in either side for motorbike gauntlets & a perspex screen, It worked a treat off our compressor for small parts. Great progress on this project, Thank you.
Hey guys Kevin here from Australia. That was a good road test on the sand blaster it looks to be the goods. Anyhoo thankyou so much for sharing its always good to see what you've been up to. Stay safe and stay well. ✌ Peace guys.
Thanks again for the update. Great innovation for keeping Dad in the picture for us and seeing him crack on with other bits. Always wanted to see the ‘cones’ it was a revolutionary suspension concept. All the best keep safe.
Hi guys. Another great episode. Really enjoy your videos even though I’m a panel beater and work on cars every day I still love to see old classic cars brought back to life. You must have a very understanding wife with the amount of time you’re in the garage. Lol. Keep it coming. Great viewing. 👍
Great test of the blaster Mark, great to see your dad staying involved too. I think Machine Mark had better stock up! You are correct about the media blocking our industrial blaster needs a good kick in the tripes from time to time to keep the media flowing! another issue may be damp air from your compressor so a good flowing water trap may help in the air feed. All the best and sty safe guys
The split screen and seperate little montages work really well. im really enjoying your content. I think if it was me, i would use a sander on the large flat areas and reserve the sandblaster for hard to reach nooks and crannies.
dunno if anyone cares but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been binge watching with my gf these days =)
'Great Video, loved the split screen. I have a cabinet blaster, that too has to be 'stirred' to get the sand to drop down. In the end I welded a bracket to the low hopper and mounted a drill with a bent bolt in the chuck. This would vibrate the often slightly damp sand/media down to the pick up. Useful if you are doing loads of small parts or you spend longer shaking the cabinet than actually blasting!
I bought some stainless steel rod a couple of square washers and a bit of scrap tube and removed my cones thought the tool too expensive for a couple of goes as I wouldn't be using it often.
Great video. Im actually going to turn my handles inward for better storage. Just goes to show that small mistakes can actually turn out to be a good idea.
Great work there, it’s a nasty messy job blasting but that looked a decent bit of kit. I had my subframes blasted by the same firm that does our trucks, it gives a great key for the zinc primer to bite too. I’ve never been keen on powder coating though as I’ve heard one little chip and the damp can get under the coating and rot you metal out from the inside.
I have got a old style snap on with out a bottom feed like the machine mart you have, I am running a 150 litre tank and the thing is useless, after seeing you running a small compressor that has sold me and I will be off to machine mart to buy a new one and put the old snap on one on ebay. Great video and I look forward to seeing some more
I had a short term job in a factory shot blasting using a very expensive piece of kit, you had the same experience as I had, I've got a short video on my channel showing the results, great video, i might get one for myself, I'll probably invest in a cheap pop up toilet tent and do the blasting in there to keep the mess down and collect the sand so I can sweep up and reuse.
I have the same unit, Clarke sold them through Tractor Supply here in the state's years ago. Its a good unit, I'm going to update it a little with a Ameriblaster upgrade kit.
Interesting stuff Mark & Jim.. When I was doing my restoration/rebuild, Machine Mart didn't have that particular shot-blaster model. I got the cabinet, which worked really, really well. The drawback was I was limited to the size of part I could fit in it. Even the cabinet used a lot of air, and my compressor had to be given a rest every 10 minuets ..Come to that, so did I 😅...It was still a messy job either way, but to me, the most effective rust remover ever invented. That doughnut compressor looked better that the home made one I used to have.. As a friend once said to me ; "You need mussels in your urine to turn the top nut on that thing !" Your's looked a bit easier to operate 😅.. See you both in a couple of weeks.. Pete
Hi! Yeah really pleased with it, need to have a good go with it. Had a bit of a nightmare with try to get the grit delivered, we kept getting let down by suppler which put a bit of pressure on getting the video out at our usual time slot. All sorted now though so looking forward to getting all the subframes blasting next week. Cheers 👍👍
Hi Mark, interesting video as usual, I’d do the sand blasting thing myself as well, that way you know it’s done properly. Looks like a great tool you’ll be able to use it for everything that needs to go back on car 👍👍😎 Regards to your dad, Take Care Stay Safe Everyone, Dave
Been researching for a blaster and compressor to do under my car I'm restoring as well as other items, been thinking of this Clark one too! found this video really helpful thankyou so much just subscribed ..keep up the great work..best wishes
Nice video chaps - I have a similar pot like yours, I took the outlet valve apart on mine and found it quite bound up with media over time. Maybe a design problem with the valve possibly? will keep fettling and see if I can improve it in some way. Enjoy watching you both good work!
@@upbuild4397 I'll keep an eye out for that for sure!! I just got mine delivered and set up tonight. It's miles better than the siphon gun that came with the cabinet. Probably twice as fast and uses less air too so my compressor keeps up reasonably well with it.
Machine Mart used to have VAT free offer days which gave a good saving on a major purchase but I haven't seen one for a while. Are the media bags expensive? A blast cabinet would be good for smaller items. Also, the cone compression tool, I'm sure these come with Imperial or Metric threads so quite important to get the right one. Good to see that the Green & White Mini shop is still on the go. I remember they had a rallycross Mini but not see any magazine advertising from them for many years. Keep up the good work.
Hi! Ah that’s really interesting, I’ll look out for that, could definitely be good savings there if they have them still. I paid £10 per 25kg bag for the media, it’s not meant to be reused be I ran it through a couple of times and it was fine.
Hi Arthur Thanks for your massage 😁👍. This is the compressor we used in the video ua-cam.com/video/tOaiwNxbAcw/v-deo.html It worked well but just not for very long, we needed to stop every 2-3 minutes to allow the air compressor to build pressure. If you’re patient and don’t mind wait for the compressor to keeps up it works great. I hope this helps 👍
Who’s this old guy in his glass house pair of ya legends what a inspiration and that went back to original love a bit of Clark always does what it says it does nothing more nothing less
If you open the bottom feed Valve a little at a time as your starting the process there won't be to much media dropping down at one time plugging it up.
I had a sand blaster attachment for my pressure washer that delivered the media with a water jet. It worked very well and stripped a large cross member with it about 5ft long. It was less dusty and unhealthy so I didn't need a hood. It did a fantastic job, but the nozzle was worn out after the one job. Was wondering how long the nozzle would last on that one? Now I get a local firm to do the blasting, but it is quite pricey at about £200 for glass bead blasting a door and epoxy primed after. About a third the price of a new door though.
Hi! Yeah I watched a couple of videos of people using the sandblasters on the pressure washer, looked very affective. I’ve blasted both the mini subframe and I can’t see any wear on the nozzles yet, maybe if I was using it continuously for a while it would wear a bit though.
An interesting video, once again! I've tried a pressure pot blaster like yours along with a (seperate) blast cabinet. I used to find that the blast media would clog up due to condensation in the air from the heat of the compressor. Are you using some sort of air dryer in your set up? I eneded up selling my blast cabinet due to the frustration of it all but I do still have the pressurised blast pot in the back of a shed. Maybe its time to drag it out again for some experimentation.
Hi! There is a water trap on the back of the pressure blasting tank that’s all, but I may add another inline one to help with the moisture. The more I use it the better understanding I’ll have of getting good results and little blockages, and I’ll report back in the vids. I’ll be using it quite a bit before the next episode 👍👍
I bought one of those blasters a few years ago here in the states it works great but of course is messy, and I threw away the hood and got a better one, also I often got static shock from the bugger but with gloves on it reduced that problem, I also found moving slightly away from the piece made the job quicker but there is a limit. Also being anal when i did my sub frame went round and knocked of all the weld spatter from the factory, and yes you do need to put a shit load of media in the tank it get through it fast.
I'm not sure what blast medium was used here (the video uploader said it wasn't Silica based), but DO NOT USE Beach sand, as it is high in Silica. When blasting this Silica is released as a fine dust that will do irresperable damage to the lungs of anyone or anything that breathes it in. Check that what you use is safe. Other than that, thanks for the video :-)

I have just bought and modified a blasting cabinet to work fantastic but it’s limited by the part size, how much mess was in the green house afterwards?
I've used a hand held direct on compressor, found i had to crank pressure right up which only gave me a minute sandblasting before compressor cut in, is this one better would you say? My compressor is only 6cfm
Hi! I have a similar hand held pot sandblaster, the pressurised sandblaster definitely uses more air, but it really depends on the nozzle size your using. I thought I would have been able to get away with my small compressor but it just wasn’t powerful enough or I’m not patient enough haha! I’ve just bought a 18cfm so will see how it goes with that.

Hi! In the video I used a small 7cfm compressor but it was running out of pressure quite fast so I upgraded to a new 18.5cfm and with a 2.5mm tip it work great.
I do hope that's NOT regular sand because you know it can kill you, you have to use sand made for sand blasting (with out silica), I use to use "black beauty med grit" my self I use a cheap mask and I always felt short of breath after wards, so be careful use a good mask in a well ventilated place (maybe get an exhaust fan for the green house)...
@@upbuild4397 I'm relived to know this because too many people think regular sand is okay to use, I only mentioned it because in the video you didn't say what kind of sand you where using, but all good carry on I can't wait to see the Mini finished as I'm sure you are too hehe...
@@upbuild4397 because it looked like you was doing a advert for sandblaster. I watch your videos every week about your MINI . If I won't to watch advertisements I can watch ITV . Now please get on with the MINI and no more adverts.

Is the respiratory enough? Sand silicates are really bad apparently?
We weren’t using sand silicate so should be find.
@@upbuild4397 by the way , another youtube test came up after yours, from USA, and he put handles on wrong way too! It will be easier to store as you said😊
Haha! I think I might have seen that a couple years ago if it an old video.
What grade of media did you use? I used my sandblaster for the first time the other day and the gun kept blocking up.
How many cfm’s is your compressor and what is its capacity
What’s a decent compressor for the sand blaster ?
Hi. This is the compressor we used in the video ua-cam.com/video/tOaiwNxbAcw/v-deo.html
It worked well but just not for very long, we needed to stop every 2-3 minutes to allow the air compressor to build pressure. If you’re patient and don’t mind wait for the compressor to keeps up it works great.
We’ve since bought a new upright 18.5cfm 150lt Clarke compressor www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-ve18c150-18cfm-industrial-vertical-elec-2/ , which can run continuously with the 2.5mm nozzle.
I hope this helps 👍
What is yours air compressor? Can you share with us some of it’s specs because In the near future I have to buy one and don’t know what kind of power is needed to have the same results as in the video ones. Thank you!

@@upbuild4397 of course you’ve helped me a lot! Greetings from Bulgaria🇧🇬❤️
I have the very same blaster. I have a 3 phase 5hp 200 ltr compressor and it only just keeps up with the blaster on a low setting. What did you use?
Hi! In the video I used a small 7cfm compressor but it was running out of pressure quite fast so I upgraded to a new 18.5cfm and with a 2.5mm tip it work great.
,👍👍. 🙏
Não tem vídeo hoje?
Hi! We will be uploading a new video on Saturday 6:30pm uk time 👍
I do hope that's NOT regular sand because you know it can kill you, you have to use sand made for sand blasting (with out silica), I use to use "black beauty med grit" my self I use a cheap mask and I always felt short of breath after wards, so be careful use a good mask in a well ventilated place (maybe get an exhaust fan for the green house)...
Hi! We don’t use any silica products, plus alway use proper respirators.
@@upbuild4397 I'm relived to know this because too many people think regular sand is okay to use, I only mentioned it because in the video you didn't say what kind of sand you where using, but all good carry on I can't wait to see the Mini finished as I'm sure you are too hehe...
@@upbuild4397 What did you use, the pebbles suggest it's beach sand, which is high in silica?
just link your compressors together.
2 nd time I've seen someone put those handle's on backwards the hands should be facing out not in😊
USE KDS SAND
Should be wearing a respirator keep that stuff out of your lungs😊
What a load of crap it must of took you 7 hours to blat it 🤯
Ex
Sorry lads , not a good video 👎
Sorry, why do you say that?
@@upbuild4397 because it looked like you was doing a advert for sandblaster. I watch your videos every week about your MINI . If I won't to watch advertisements I can watch ITV . Now please get on with the MINI and no more adverts.
Haha! not advertising anything buddy, just show off the new tool we bought for working on our Mini project. We’ll be back with the Mini project in a couple weeks as expected in the video 👍👍
@@upbuild4397 ok BUDDY.
Hi, good instructional video, please write how much you need to pour this sand inside? Is it half the tank or full, thanks.
hi just received this unit and the air filter isnt connected at all and nowhere to attach, did yours come attached as in the vid? cheers
What size compressor you using to run that blaster?
