Good fix, sharp eye! Same motors as festool ctl 26/36. open up First time needs heat gun (melt glue). so this one was indeed open before. New motors can be found for 60 euro. Also models with removable Black plastic ring available - on those you can replace brushes without opening motor housing..
I have one of these. Made in Hungary. Must be nearly 20 years old and the only problem is the rubber nozzle on the end of the hose; which is a little frayed. Nice to have this video as reference.
5:30 Nah they said the same about my Miele vacuum motor before I serviced it. Hit the cover gently with a rubber mallet and it will reveal the screws on the bottom. A steel mallet will dent the cover. Mr Dean, can you identify me some brushes for the motor of Miele s5211, as the manual says nothing and the Miele service "just bring the old motor"? By the way, they now make the stator ring so flimsy that the brushes aren't the problem anymore.
Interesting that it has a wet’n’dry vacuum fan; these have 2 separate air flows: the small axle fan on top for cooling the motor, and the centrifugal vacuum turbine ~ the air comes out the angled holes in the side of the turbine shroud, in this case they are avoiding the vacuums air going through the motor and scratching the commutator/ball-bearings; in case the filter/bag bursts and dust is drawn into the fan and out = the motor would be protected. 😉
The glue is not the best option. It could be better to use plaster board screw of 10mm inside that hole, at the most - loctite glued for vibration unscrewing protection. Big flat head will cover the whole hole. Cheers from Israel, your work is amazing!
I got my vacuum with an auto start at store similar to Harbor Freight (Jula or maybe Rusta). Dirt cheap at around $60. Ok, the hose is stiff, the connection piece is simple and had to modified, it's loud as a jet engine, but it hoovers perfectly for my purpose (permanently hooked to the miter saw) and you cannot beat that price.
This is the exact same motor used in Hilti vc 150 models. And anyone can fix them. Hilti vacuums don’t have any kind of service light or anything like that. He got lucky opening this motor. I’ve tried before and 90% of the time the pegs break when you try to open the motor because the are glued with industrial glue from the factory.
Dean, thanks to your guidance, I rescued a bunch of tools! I just picked up a Festool CTL Midi for a great price. I followed your principles from the video, and the board is working with power coming through and controls functioning, but it won’t turn on. Do you think the brushes or motor might be burned out? Any advice?” I Think i spend countless hours watching your videos.. keep it up!
Thats why I threw out my crap Einhell vacuum: Lost contact in the motor twice. The connection to the field winding was just a bad design. Fixed it the 1st time and decided not to bother when it stopped dead again just days later. Bought a Nilfisk Buddy II for 54€ and got an extended warranty too (4 years). Cant believe a much more expensive Bosch can develop the same problem.
@@zaxmaxlax never had issues with the power of it it sucks just as strong as our Bosch home vacuum but the Einhell is garbage regardless. The filter is an absolute joke, I only ever used it with dust bags which were cheap on Amazon (1,39€ per bag) because the filter clogs up immediately otherwise and everything is simply so cheap and poorly made I absolutely cannot recommend them to anybody. Also its horrendously loud. The Nilfisk is much better in every regard and it was only 20€ more then the price of the Einhell back when I bought that. If I had more use for a workshop vaccum I would spend a lot more on a Makita because crappy vacuums arent worth your time.
I don't understand why you can buy a new motor for this one very similar to the gas35, in Romania i can buy that motor from bosch for 120 euro, or an armature for gsh11e for 130 euro. Big profit margin on the parts and not for labor?!
Dean any experience with sealy power tools? I see they have a kit with an impact driver, 3/8impact gun, normal drill and a 3/8 ratchet with 2 battery’s and a charger for around 200 quid…any good or will I be sending them to you after a week of use
Don't remind me. Had to go back to this one twice. Also forget the second rubber ring on top of the motor. That's why you keep a clean workbench, you see the leftover afterwards.
10:28 that 7am joke about working to early was hilarious 😂
Deans humor is so dry, I wonder how many people thought it was real.
Had me howling, the Irish have a humour only matched with us Brits.
Made me yell WHAT?

Nice work , real professional at work here not just a parts changer quite rare to find in this day and age!
Good troubleshooting Dean. Amazing what you find with continuity tests. Contacts had no contacts... they were alone.
7am motor protector switch!😂😅 Good one Dean!😂😂
Thank you for a good video. The little motorprotector was news to me. Good to know!
You saved a lot of money for the owner❤

Steady simple fault finding. And a quick fix. Cheers.
You forgot the red switch button, but you find out afterwards the video😊 . Thanks for sharing. 👍

Great job, Dean.
I love you call it a Hoover.
Don't forget to put the button you took off at 3:30. My OCD was playing up as we got to the end of the video
i did
Mine too!
Looking forward to the makita video

Sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you.
Old Hieronymus Bosch built some good vacuum cleaners.
Red Buttons was an American comedian/actor who passed in 2006 at 87.

Ca glue desolves with naptha, can of zippo fuel or bbq lighter fluid will soften superglue if you do need to debond the stuff

What type of grease you use for the electric tools like hammer drills and so? Thank you
Bosch grease tube 225ml
@@zaxmaxlax Thank you
great fix as usual. Just a question as to why the polarity of the motor doesn't matter when you reconnected?
Because it is an AC motor
Great video!
What do you think about little 18V Bosch vacuums like GAS 18V-10? Are they reliable?
Thanks!
They are OK. No cordless vac will be as good or as reliable as a corded one
Didn't see clearly what kind of superglue u used, but generally super glue can be undone whit heat. so that motor might bet opened up in the future
Hi dean what do you think is better in terms reliability dewalt or Milwaukee ? Great video👍🏻
Dewalt day long
What about using hot glue 🤔
👏🏼 thanks for working

Makita M class vacuums are expensive so Ill probably have it only repaired once only. Then buy a new one if it happens again
If your super glue is also based on cyanoacrylate acetone will take it off again
And dissolve many plastics!

For a split second I thought that was a gas powered vacuum. :)

There was a time when many would have considered BOSCH to be the quality leader...above DeWalt and Milwaukee. It was BOSCH and HILTI all day long.
Hi how can i find your address so i can send you a tool, thanks......
That seems a poor design those spring tension connections. Things like this have been referred to as " accidentally on purpose ".
It serves several purposes: lower BOM cost, ease of assembly in production, and obsolescence baked into the design!
You need T-shirts made with that’s her or she’s doing notin
Crikey,..having to pay €200 for a new vacuum cleaner motor really “ sucks “ ! 😅
Imagine how much trash and wasted energy is produced by this bad design. And it's not even cheap
I just buy a new vac from a big box store, swap the motors then return the new one..
Aaaaand that would be theft.
Don't fix any more vacuums if you are going to tap them like that
Why are they so expensive when it only cost 10 pounds to make in China
