Thanks for showing us how to repair these DIY tools. Not all of us need or can afford the professional tools. Helps us out when you repair and review these Parkside and Einhell tools.
My father in law did industrial compressor repair for 30 years and gave me a handful of steel dental picks/tools. I use them to fix just about everything. Perfect for the workshop! Great channel!
Dean, get a few pairs of stainless steel hemostats (4" and 6" sizes). They are basically mini needle-nose pliers and super handy for tasks like this. You will wonder how you ever lived without 'em. Cheers mate!
With luck, Parkside will change the ferrule size on the demolition hammer power lead and alter the plastic handle ring to engage better with the handle microswitch on its hedge trimmers. A good set of learning repairs in this well thought out video. I enjoyed watching very much.
Needle-nose pliers are good, but there's an even better tool for reaching into tight spaces, called a Rochester-Pean hemostatic forceps. It's a surgical instrument with very thin but strong springy jaws that will reach deeper and won't bend or break as easily as a similar sized pair of pliers. They're widely available online in a variety of sizes, for your needs I'd recommend the 14cm / 5.5". Prices start from around 15 euros and do not scale with quality like regular tools, if they're certified as medical instruments they'll be good enough no matter where you get them from (it's an industry standard). They're also much more heat resistant than regular pliers, as they have to withstand OR grade sterilization.
I've often seen parkside repair and it's almost always the same. The cord. Nothing else seems to brake down to these tools. Nice construction for a diy tool.
What if there was one-time donation option on patreon? Money is tight, yet I love your videos so much i would like to compensate you with what i can when i can for the joy you have brought me. Thank you.
To get inside the hedge trimmer body, there's one extra hidden screw under the CE label. Then you can access the other micro switch in the handle to adjust the metal actuator lever
Thanks to your videos I had a look at a friends grinder (Bosch), loose lead connection problem so I opened it up only to find a big chunk of plastic that the cables were wrapped around. Looking at an "exploded" diagram it was a ferrite core........never seen one in ANY of your repairs, what's that all about? lol
Can I ask what driver bits you are using? They look dead handy! I was doing some maintenance on my dehumidifier recently, and it was a pain in the arse as the screw wells were so deep and narrow
Just wanted to ask, sometimes you use a 1/4" impact to unscrew the bolts but most times you use a drill. I've never used a drill to do and undo bolts, whats the advantage ?
Goes without saying, excellent episode, always look forward to them. Installing new brushes in my AEG PS254SB mitre saw this weekend as my replacement brushes have come in. Gotta go find the video you did where you showed how to fix the laser and light, think it was a DeWalt, but principle the same.
Safety reasons. The 110v are tapped in the transformer at +55v and at -55v. Each of that voltages is kind of safe to touch in relation to ground if there is a fault in the lead.
I’m just stupid, wasn’t supposed the vibration bit be left inside and when you pressed it on it would then fit into place, considering that you will need two to tango( two to create the required vibration, went back and forth and it didn’t look that the new spindle had the half that was left on the bench, eyesight isn’t what it was).
Domestic power is 240v, but regulations here means all building site tools need to be 110v for safety. So everyone has a 110v isolation transformer to power tools.
United States viewer here, why would 240 be best for homeowner use and 110 be for job sites? If homes are set up for 240 common use wouldn't jobsites be as well? Also what would be the US equivalent of Parkside? No stores here have a house brand demohammer
Right. It's so inane to me to pump 240V RMS (340V peak) into every outlet in a house. Soooo stupid. Heck, most things nowadays will run off of 3V3 to 24V. Laundry room and kitchen are really the only places you need 240V. And I couldn't imagine every cord having that giant plug on the end of it.
Thanks for doing your posts , you have saved me a lot of money on tools and repairs

The impact hammer method of getting the drill chuck out is genius.
Parkside çekicinin kablosunun üzerinde çalışmışlar adeta beton kırmak için değil kablo iyi direnmiş bravo bravo üretici firmayı tebrik ediyorum 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Yes I agree 💯👍🏻👌🏻
I love that they lock closed too, so you can keep a grip on something small! They're a great lil tool to have!
Thank you for another video Dean. Love watching these repairs
You are a genius! Nearly a full hour of entertainment, too. Thank you, Dean!
Wow many peices. Great job getting it back together. Nice job Dean. Keep the videos coming. Thanks
Great skills and knowledge Dean
Hammering out the spindle was genius !!
A wiggle and a jiggle😂😂😂 Amazing videos with great advice and description of how to improvise, adapt and over come. Thank you.
That hedge trimmer was too easy. First thing you checked? Priceless!

Excellent teacher.
I just have to say thank you, I’ve started using the Farrell connectors on all my electronics that I can use them on.
ferrule btw

That small nose plier has definitely an use.Nice video sir

There's a "THANKS" button, let's you give a one time $ amount.
There's a "thanks" button right under the description. Lets you give a one time $ amount
Good save with the chuck Thanks for posting
Getting close to 100K subcribers, mate.
Really enjoy your videos.
Loving your Videos. Wishing i had a Dean Doherty Repair man here on Anglesey, North Wales.
Thanks Dean, another great one!!!!!
It's a good thing you've done, keeping all that out of the landfill.
Let’s call it ‘ lightly tapping mode’. Terrific work.
Tools fixed in this video:
0:00 Parkside PAH 1700 B2 Demolition hammer - Fault: Lead
15:13 DeWalt DCB115 XR Charger - Fault: Not working
20:25 Parkside PHSA 20-li a1 - Fault: Not starting
30:25 DeWalt DCD778 - Fault: Chuck not spinning
Thanks!
That gearbox was a diabolical puzzle, not many people in the world have the skills, tools and modesty to fix that for less than the cost of the tool.

Impressive job on the Dewalt planetary gear system, those look even more complicated then the Makita ones.
So impressed with your skills,
Parkside fans army here! 💪
A thin self tapping screw will often grip the ferrule then your pliers / multi grips will extract
I love the German colours of the wiring !! haha
How do you keep track of all those tools? I've noticed none have tags on them. I saw some black zip ties.
Thanks to your videos I had a look at a friends grinder (Bosch), loose lead connection problem so I opened it up only to find a big chunk of plastic that the cables were wrapped around. It's over the power cable to reduce electrical noise, not essential and may be more important in some regions than others.
Can I ask what driver bits you are using? They look dead handy! I was doing some maintenance on my dehumidifier recently, and it was a pain in the arse as the screw wells were so deep and narrow
Dean, what model of Bosch drill driver do you use. Wanted to buy one for myself and who better than you to suggest. Thanks.
On the 1st repair, could you have screwed in a tiny screw to just grip and then pull that out?
I'm glad you don't say "if I can do it you can do it". Because I definitely can't do it. LOL
0:20 I was looking for that belt! I knew I left it at one of the job sites I was working at. 😂😂🤷🏻♂️🤔😅
Just wanted to ask, sometimes you use a 1/4" impact to unscrew the bolts but most times you use a drill. I've never used a drill to do and undo bolts, whats the advantage ?

The old parksides great but not even cheap theyre just cheaper than anything else
Wait, what? Only 220 not 110. Why do they use 110v for site work? It seems a bit backwards.
Nice fixes!
Safety reasons. The 110v are tapped in the transformer at +55v and at -55v. Each of that voltages is kind of safe to touch in relation to ground if there is a fault in the lead.
electric shock safety , many year since i did a site safe pass , but i think the 110v stuff can only give you a 55v shock , so your day isnt ruined
very good, thank you! ;)
Why do you use 110 VAC? In Sweden where I live al machines are 240 VAC or 400 3 phaze AC.

@@deandohertygreaser okay!
Thanks for clarifying😊👍
Hey Dean!
Where does your company order their makita parts from Dean? Thanks
nice
I'd not get that drill gearbox back together in a month of Sundays!
Mad how people who are practical enough to be a builder and do work with tools aren't practical enough to do a simple lead replacement
😊😊😊😊😊😊
United States viewer here, why would 240 be best for homeowner use and 110 be for job sites? If homes are set up for 240 common use wouldn't jobsites be as well?

Harbor freight would be equivalent
Skill n patience this game that gearbox little cordless like that rocket science to me 😂
Have ever come across a power tool that you could not fix???
UK is a weird country that has 110v in construction sites. no other EU country does that and people dont die there either.
Keep the what from the hedge cutters? lol
I thought he said wee ones at first, but after another listen, I think he used an Irish slang term, "Weans" (waynes) - small children.
Weeuns!👶
That simply didn’t make sense rebuilding the drill . You could have slipped him a new one he’d never know the difference.
I need my Dewalt spindle shaft replace.
Can you give me the workshop postal address so that i can post to yu for repair?
You sound like you have a cold
Genius I think is the word dean did you have any luck with my brush problem on the power craft PSB-950 ?
