- TIPS FOR CHECKRIDE:
1: Take a deep breath. Your examiner is a human too, and they also had to go through a checkride just like you! You'll find after your checkride that it wasn't nearly as bad or intimidating as you thought it would be. I promise, very few people were more nervous than I was for my checkride, so you're not alone in feeling that way. If I can do it, you can too!
2: Don't dig a hole. You may have heard this one before, but if the DPE asks you a question, try not to show off your knowledge by answering more than he/she asked. If you try to show off, they may dig deeper into a part of your knowledge that you may not be as confident in, plus you're just wasting time!
3: Get there early. You should get to your checkride at least a few hours early to get the room set up with all your books and materials out, and payment ready for the DPE. and to preflight the airplane to make sure it's airworthy. Also, check the weather for the day of the checkride and COMMUNICATE with your DPE! I made this mistake and it got me in a pickle.
4: Study the ACS. Aviation is one of the only career fields where we know EXACTLY what the test is going to be before we take it. We literally have a document that tells us everything the examiner will/should ask, so why don't we use it more? Use it like a checklist and go through your weak areas to study them. But, adding onto that, not only do we know what the test is going to be, but we ALSO can use any FAA publication we want to! USE THIS! If you don't know the answer to a question, don't guess, LOOK IT UP!
5: Trust your endorsement! As CFI, we have to endorse our students for the check ride they take, and putting our name on that endorsement is a big deal for us as well! We wouldn't endorse you without having full trust in your abilities, so be confident and trust your CFI has done their job.
GOOD LUCK!! You're going to crush it!

I recommend watching the binder portion at 1.5x speed or more, don’t want to waste your time:) Hopefully you all found this helpful!!
I had to replay a portion friggen 5 times to hear him say what it was. 1.5 no way. So I still didn't get it, was he able to get these wrong answer codes automatically printed out somewhere or did he do it manually, searching online. Dude speak clearly please.
You are prepared, ahead of the airplane, an example of excellence. And with each checkride, your organization propels you forward. Future airline captain, sir.
Man, so impressed by your organization here. Great for studying, bookkeeping, all requirements and documents, remembering the parts of your training and actually what you need on the checkride. Fantastic!
I’m glad you liked it!!
When you said “it was on old Cessna and it was falling apart” my thought was “and he let you take a checkride in it?!” And then I realized you meant the POH, not the airplane hahah!
I am completing my private pilot checkride this Friday, as long as the weather is good. I completed my oral already, but we were unable to fly due to weather.
I thought my organization was on point, but you put me to shame! This binder is a fantastic idea.
A huge thank you for this video! Passenger Brief is excellent! I have my check-ride coming up, and I am making my binder.
I have my checkride in 7 days I’m freaking out I think this will definitely help!
I started organizing my binder, I saw another pilot organizing her binder for check rides. Thanks for the video
Well organized!!!! Very helpful!! Thanks!!!
Such a great idea, thanks for this! I'll definitely be making a binder for my checkride coming up in a couple weeks

Hi this was amazing. Where did you get the weather min card ?
Thank you so much for this awesome video! Ive got my ride next Friday. Super excited about it, but of course at the same time, nervous. I started making my own binder like yours. Would you be able to upload your passenger briefing as well as the Aeromedical doc?
You're very welcome!! Good luck on your checkride. The documents are uploaded in the description:) Let me know if you have any trouble!
Thank you for sharing
U r amazing , would u have a similar suggestion / info for CFI ? As i am about to start for my CFI
I like your organization. So, does the Navigation Log contain an entry for every VFR flight that you flew?
This helps
Awesome Video, I Am Quite Young So This Won’t Help Me Now.. but it will help me later on in life! 😁
That’s the goal! It will come sooner than you think. But hopefully it serves you well!
Hey Ethan, how are you? I hope all is well. Man, this video is awesome! I’m now preparing for my PPL checkride and will definitely be making a binder just as you have. 1 Quick question/ request. Can you make a video or maybe just write me back, explaining more in detail the passenger briefing cards you made. They are great and I want to include those in my binder as well. Thanks in advance! Please take great care of yourself and stay healthy, safe and blessed. David
hey how did it go?
@@babydaddy359 Checkride went well. I passed and now studying for instrument checkride.
I have a question. Did ATP flight school make you feel prepared for your check rides and oral, or were you unsure about it. That is the only thing I am worried about at this point. Thank you!
OK NERD .. lmao just kidding.. thanks so much the thoroughness. you covered almost every possible base. amazing.
Have a check ride tomorrow. Putting it back to make one of these. Will I ever feel ready? :/
Are you doing the Airline career pilot program? I’m interested in this ATP, although from what I understand airlines don’t hire unless you have a bachelors degree. What are your thoughts on that? Great video by the way!
I am doing the ACPP! As far as I know, it depends airline to airline, but you should have a degree before applying for an airline to be more competitive. Thanks!!
How did you make the welcome aboard cards.
Very nice. I might add google earth pics of landmarks etc. Otherwise very nice.
Would you consider uploading the two passenger briefing documents to a drive folder? Thanks for the video!
Sure thing!
Link is in the description, let me know if you have any trouble accessing the file!
@@TakingFlightWithEthan it worked for me. Thanks so much! Always nice to have extra material to look over
@@rawcookiedohh5559 Yeah man! Happy to help!
When you printed out the chart, how did you do it, and how did you keep the chart to the same scale as the original? Sounds like a lot of trial and error.
Thank You so much!! And I am finishing up to get my PPL at Hickory Regional Airport with Skyview Aviation really good school and then go to ATP to finish up for the next 5 months in concord probably and then make my way up to American Airlines and hope we might get to fly together one day Bro And God Bless You!! #God’s Plan!! #Thank You JESUS!! #FuturePilot’s!!🙏🏽😇🔜👨🏽✈️🥳🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yea and my name is Josiah Daniel Naraidu and I am 20!! #Thank You JESUS!!🙏🏽😇👨🏽✈️
Do you sell the passenger briefing cards? Would love to get them.
They’re available for free! Download them in the description
@@TakingFlightWithEthan oh I couldn't get the link to work. It said the site may be having issues or has moved
good shit bro
Where did you get the passenger briefing and aeromedical sheets?
I made them! The link to them is in the description:)
That’s awesome! Thank you!
Nice! Thank you!
You’re very welcome!
I know I’m late to the comments, but is it looked down upon to refer back to all this information during the checkride? I’ve always been under the assumption they wanted as much to be off the top of your head as possible. Please correct this assumption if it is wrong.
Are we able to use this during our check ride for PPL?
Yes!
Are there any apps or websites to help with ATP acceptance entrance exam?
I didn't have to take the aptitude test, so unfortunately I don't know of any resources that can help. Best of luck though!
What location are you at ?
Georgetown KGTU
Will you sell me one of these?
Are you instructing for ATP upon graduation?
Not entirely sure yet. I am going to Indoc but I really want to work elsewhere for better pay.
@@TakingFlightWithEthan I feel that. Im going to Indoc next week
@@ginosemola8060 Let me know how it goes!
Calling it a “checkride binder” may make some DPE’s think instead of studying you’re just using all the info as a crutch and that after the checkride you won’t be using any of it
Call it flight binder maybe 😂
Definitely wouldn’t fly at my flight school on check I’ll tell ya that
U r amazing , would u have a similar suggestion / info for CFI ? As i am about to start for my CFI
