Joe - I have enjoyed every episode and learned from you in every interview you’ve done here. Hearing your story, I am NOT surprised that you would serve the pilots of Kingdom Air…. But, it makes me even more grateful for what you do every day.
I so needed this. I just finished my long xc and have my last flights before my final stage check. I am 45 years old and have been out of school for quite a while, never was a good test taker to begin with so I did fair on my written, but excel in decision making and I like to believe I have no issues safely flying the plane. I could ask questions all day regarding my check ride but it’s nice to hear a few pointers that will help me here really soon. I like to hear the words learning experience used with the check ride as this whole process has been about learning and I don’t want to see this as a miserable experience and that was helpful to hear. Thanks
@@king.kthebest6158 honestly it was exactly how it was described. Nothing hidden, everything was exactly as you would expect. It was knowledge that you had to study for and it would show if you didn’t. My DPE was looking for good decision making, mastery of my maneuvers, book knowledge and my deciding factors of safety. I passed with ease. I did study my butt off and I listened to Jason schapperts pass your private pilot checkride audiobook regularly. I am at a part 141 school and have used the jeppesen component to their program thus far and have started my instrument. I couldn’t be happier. The DPE was looking for good decision making, he was not looking for perfection but will I make solid decisions. It was a lot of hype for something I really prepared for.
Excellent episode Dan and Christy, thank you. Always great to have Joe on the show. I appreciate all the tips. It won't be long before I am doing my check ride. Keep up the excellent work as always. Safe skies 🇺🇸🛩️
perfect timing ..... i have my checkride wednesday morning and TBH... i'm terrified.... i dont do well in "exams" or "interviews" which is basically what these are to me (in my head) - @11:30 the dpe ihave does his pricing based on the score you got on the written.... if you get 80's like i did, it's less money than a 70+
Seems I saw this interview before. That being said, the times/dates spoken can be confusing to those looking for scale dates. But the caveat is communicating. But great video.
When Paying for DPE's servers can the payment be made to a business name for tax purposes? I know that DPE's are no longer confined to a geographical area, but why can't DPE'S network together in case the check ride can't be completed so they schedule easily find another DPE?
The new system just seems like more government overreach. The FAA is in desperate need of a total overhaul. More micro management is is simply another indicator of this need.
ABout 1 in 4 of the podcast uploads will be reloads. This is a gem that had very low numbers of views because I think I did it as a live and those are harder to find.
Guys ought to look into John Boyd, Mission Command, Dave Snowden, Cynefin, “Estuaries,” Sidney Dekker, Safety Differently. FAA is gone far too Taylorist thinking. No concept of the differences between ‘complicated’ and ‘complexity.’
A little “inside baseball”; if you can’t access a DPE in a reasonable amount of time, complain to your local member of Congress. FAA ops inspectors (GA) are still required to maintain CFI ratings, medical, and currency. The government is still required to service the need of the taxpaying public, and the mere thought of a FSDO being subjected to a “congressional inquiry” is enough to access an inspector to perform the evaluation. Imagine if the Social Security office didn’t service the public. 😵💫 It’s called “going nuclear.” 🤨
I always enjoy and appreciate Joe being on. More, please!
I love when DPE's give such great advice. Always love it when Joe is on.
Always nice to hear from Joe. 😁👍

@@king.kthebest6158 thank you for asking. I would say it was the single most enjoyable adventure I’ve done.

Good example of leadership skills. Show the learners your side of it.
Christy Wong is such a star. You all rock what a great team

Thats real interesting about the scale pricing based on the written. THe best tool in your arsenal to fight anxiety is preparation. You got this!
I'm a checkride choke artist myself... It's okay. DPEs want you to pass. The really do.
@@ronsflightsimlab9512 oh i know, but doesnt stop my brain working overtime lol
@@TakingOff that's what they keep telling me lol
Where does the cash go after dpe recieves it. Does he keep all or keeps 50% and FAA 50%???
The FAA does not take any money from the DPE, however, neither does it provide for any expenses for the DPE including training and mandated training.
I see Spike & Chester sitting up front.
"Hey Spike... wanna go beat up a cat??!!"
Is this a re-upload?
Yes-- about one out of four on the podcasts will be re-loads from the In The Hangar series. THis was a live video that many people missed.
Seems I saw this interview before.

Yeah, about 25% of the podcasts will be re-loads from In The Hangar.
@@TakingOff Cool, I understand the tactics with info/revenue. Can't run it for free. I watched it again for both reasons.
Keep up the good work Sir.
@@dustinalexander4620 Appreciate it!!

You might get the ride but do you really want to take it with a pissed off fed?
