+1guyin10 I've said this a million times, but Lincoln should BRAG that their cars are floaty, cushy, and entirely the opposite of sporty. That thing should have quilted velour, shag carpet, wood everywhere, and a cat door. It should waft down the road in utter silence. Nobody makes cars like that anymore except Rolls. It should have a hot chicken broth dispenser in the dash, and foot warmers. And Lincoln should have real names. Even bad names would be better than alpha-numerics. M K who gives a fuck. This should be America's Luxury Pillow Barge, not American's Like an Audi but Cheaper.
I would like to see them put more effort into the interiors. That center stack looks horribly cheap considering the space it is playing in. However, I personally think the exterior looks quite nice. Better than the new Lexus for sure.
Liked the MKX I rented with I guess was the 3.7...could not figure out how to open the hood after the interior release was clicked...the at night approach was very nice! Very quiet and responsive!
Great review, as usual! Looks like Lincoln has a winner.I like this vehicle's styling, detail, and ride, but like you, I fear the price is a bit too precious. Not sure why they wouldn't go the full value route. I could almost drink the Black Label kool-aid if I didn't fear seeing MKX's with dealer $7500 off banners very soon. Whatever we decide, hope it's a success for them.
+Billy Sou Nope. I tested the Reserve model that sits below the Black Label. Note that I never talk about incentives and the MKX definitely has them right now. That lowers the price. But if a buyer is simply shopping on the internet and sees that price I have to believe it will turn them away without test driving. It's a mistake I believe has held Cadillac back.
I'd kill for this sound system from Revel. Wish other car makers would go the same route and not just the usual Bose mediocre nonsense you find in way too many cars.
Lincoln is definitely delusional if they thing people will pay $62K for this. The Lincoln name doesn't really have much prestige, and the leather and wood trim look so cheap. Would much rather have the competition over this (Lexus RX, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5, BMW X3, even the Acura RDX and Volvo XC60). Lincoln definitely needs to do something more daring to win over more luxury car buyers.
+dcharizard91 The RX is hideous, The Q5 and X3 are quite aged and behind at this point, same with the RDX and the Volvo. Only the GLC can truly compete with the Lincoln. Although, the Lincoln beats all of them in looks and power.
+Protector of the Republic Styling is subjective...I think the MKX looks dated and boring compared to the RX. The Q5 and X3 might be dated, but they are aging well and updates are coming soon. I actually view Lincoln as more of a sub-luxury brand that competes with Volvo, Acura, and Buick.
+dcharizard91 Nothing about the leather in the MKX is cheap, especially the one in this video. This MKX has Bridge of Weir leather from Scotland and black label models get even more customized leather. I'd take this leather any day compared to anything Lexus uses. Have you seen the new RX's interior, how does that leather not look cheap?
I drove all above and ended up with a used 16 Lincoln OTD for 38 k sticker of 65k. FULLY loaded, blew all above Bmw, acura, etc away. Oh, anything with info tainment minus touch screen was DOA. Lexus grill is hideous IMO. and no touchscreen, what are they thinking . Lexus used to be on top of it, oh well. LOVE my MKX.
+Driven Car Reviews i'm surprised they just don't let you have it for 10 minutes and save a ton of trouble. but if you can get "miles" on the charge, LOL
+Alex Chavez The wood is quite nice in person. The one panel I tapped on was particularly hallow though, it needs some substance on the back for a beefier feel.
+Protector of the Republic at least it doesn't have a faulty transmission and turbo problems.... Whats the point of having performance when it's only to get to the garage hahaha. Also, I like the look of the new Lexus SUVs... all tastes are in the nature.
Gee Tom, you mean the much slower, sloppier handling, uglier, smaller, RX350 with fewer storage nooks and an inferior nav/infotainment system using a sloppy joystick costs less? Btw, in reality, with discounts, it cost the same or less.
I think the soft luxury theme is really the right path for Lincoln. They seem to have finally figured out what they want to be.
I think they are still confused. Making cars priced similar to real luxury brands, but not delivering. They have a long way to boost their popularity.

why didn't you put a link in describe section for escape?
Even though I am not into this car, I still watch because I love your reviews.

Exterior needs an update too, shapeless
Great review Tom, though I would have loved to see your best Matthew McConaughey impression! Cheers!
Liked the MKX I rented with I guess was the 3.7...could not figure out how to open the hood after the interior release was clicked...the at night approach was very nice! Very quiet and responsive!
Curious to see how this sells. At this price point it would be my 5th or 6th choice.
Cool to see Lincoln making a go of it
How much prize this car????

Just wondering. Will you guys get the new Suzuki Vitara? Not the 'Grand Vitara' but New Vitara.
+Xenophene01 No. Suzuki is no longer in the U.S. market.
In terms of features, Is the 2016's Platinum trimmed Edge better choice than 2016's MKX?
+feduo45465 Only you can make that choice.
In regards of the base engine, I think Lincoln should use the 2.3L Turbo Inline-4, the same that's in the MKC, Ford Focus RS, and Mustang.
Aren't the rear mud flaps on the wrong side of the wheels? Hoe can they protect the rear paint mounted in front of the wheel?
Those are aerodynamic aids that help channel the wind.
I never noticed them before, but watched a few more reviews and all have them. Thanks for the reply, great review BTW.
haha. I see alot of people don't like it...I'll be getting my Saturday. Hey....that means less people will have them!
We were pretty close on our opinions on this.
Most MKXs fully loaded are $54k... the same price as the competition. Tom drove the Black Label version, thus the $8000 premium.
+Billy Sou Nope. I tested the Reserve model that sits below the Black Label. Note that I never talk about incentives and the MKX definitely has them right now. That lowers the price. +Driven Car Reviews Thanks for the correction. I used the Lincoln website, and I optioned it at $54k on average give or take.
Mom has one a I love it!
That freaking grille is sales death.
Is this a Ford Product?
2:54 Non-THX audio system.
This is NOT a THX, a Revel.
Completely agree re naming schemes. Just horrible.
Lee S - For the 2019 model year, Lincoln will rename the MKX the Nautilus.
I'd kill for this sound system from Revel. Wish other car makers would go the same route and not just the usual Bose mediocre nonsense you find in way too many cars.
Where is the THX system?
+Giovanny Plascencia Revel system far superior
Okay.

This competes with the X5, ML/GLE, & RX, not the X3 or GLK/ GLC
The standard seat sucks. Make sure to get the optional ones.
62k!? For this!? Ha! Great video though!
they are nice, i would not mind picking up a used one for much less money in a few years or more
Do you buy that toilet paper or do they just let you borrow it? Lol.
+DevPack I buy it then return it (which confuses people when I'm waiting in line to get my money back)
LOL..that's funny.
+Driven Car Reviews The people working there must know you by name considering how many times you bought and refund toilet papers.
+Driven Car Reviews i'm surprised they just don't let you have it for 10 minutes and save a ton of trouble. but if you can get "miles" on the charge, LOL
LOL, why not just keep 20 of them around and drive them to the store, unload them, then load them, then drive them home?
Compact crossover? This is Mid-sized. The MKC is compact.
+headcas620 Thanks for the catch. That's what happens when I I write at 1AM.
+Driven Car Reviews blame it on the change to DST, Tom! 👍🏻
+Mario Dalla Riva And so I will
The wood looks like from one of them cheap Chinese restaurants
+Alex Chavez The wood is quite nice in person. The one panel I tapped on was particularly hallow though, it needs some substance on the back for a beefier feel.
Alright I guess on video it just doesn't seem as nice.
To me the car seems overpriced
Escape! Ha!
Not on the Escape platform. This is based on the Edge architecture.
MKC is on the Escape platform
Oh :(
Thats the car that i have but its white
great car with an ugly back. The rear lights needs re-design. it should be more like MKC's rear light
I expect horrific resale.
I still would take a Lexus over this... Better resale value, probably more reliable and the name sounds more classy.
+The anything goes channel ツ Too bad it's shit faced ugly and has no performance.
+Protector of the Republic at least it doesn't have a faulty transmission and turbo problems.... Whats the point of having performance when it's only to get to the garage hahaha. Also, I like the look of the new Lexus SUVs... all tastes are in the nature.

$62k?
Hahahahahaha!
Even the new MB GLC is less than that.
I guess they need to pay off whatever they paid McConaughey for those stupid commercials.
+777PharmD777
Under $60k.
*****
Exactly.
Except MB is way more expensive to maintain and much less reliable. Dumb ass turd.
Looks like an overweight behemoth hamster
Uh not at all.
Paultwice22 If not that, then a pig
+s50201 not that either. It looks like a MKX to me.
Paultwice22 What the hell is that
Wow... an Audi knockoff. Looks like what a Chinese auto manufacturer would design.
Or a Nigerian one.
