Lincoln made a true luxury crossover that rides better and quieter with massaging seats and I vote for it.

I test drove and looked at the Linclon MKX, Lexus RX, but not the Volvo XC60. I did look at the Volvo XC90. In the end, I put an order for a 2016 Lexus RX 450h with Luxury Package! Really excited!

They are GREAT vehicles. Ford and Lincoln have come A LONG LONG way in terms of reliable nice looking vehicles. I own a 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.0 AWD and it's by far the best vehicle i've ever owned. I think my next will be a 2019 Ford Explorer Platinum with the ecoboost V6. That should be extra fun...!!!

I went with the Lincoln! So much power and comfort, Really no touchscreen Lexus?DOA As far as drag race, whoever was driving the Lincoln did not know how to drive! I've got 6.3 on my 2.7 Turbo zero to 60, blows that Volvo off the road L.

You have to understand there test was done at elevation. So ALL 3 SUV's are going to be slower when your above sea level. On flat ground as i'm sure your test was completely different story. And YES i totally agree with you about Lincolns. Since i own a 2015 MKC AWD 2.0 and find it to be the best vehicle i've ever owned. Plenty of power and space for my needs.

True..... 7.64 0-60? I'm guessing something was broken. I own one as well and no way. Plus there's not a single magazine or test where it's run more than a 7 second 0-60. Motortrend has it at 6.4. Car and Driver got a 6.0. You only have to look at the power numbers. Makes 33 more HP and 85 more lb*ft of trq than that Volvo.

After watching this video I had a thought about why the Lexus stopped quicker…So I asked a buddy of mine who sells for Lexus, does the F-Sport version of the RX 350 come with upgraded brakes…sure enough, along with an upgraded suspension, it does! If this were a realistic test with the common seller (non F-Sport RX 350), the volvo would have killed it, like it did with the 0-60.

Nathan's right. The XC60 is very sporty to drive, and since the 2015.5 mid-year upgrade, it has torque vectoring. It will flat take a hard turn, for an SUV. And with European-style suspension, it has great high speed driving dynamics too. And if you've never had a serious back injury, like me, you probably can't appreciate the orthopedically designed seats. I can drive for hours in my XC60, and my back never hurts, even when I get out of the car. Not even true for the chairs in my den.
However, three great cars. A tie was well deserved by all three.

So here's the deal: for $60K, you can have a well equipped Volvo XC90 that will blow all of these away in every category! How about 7 seater with super modern and expansive interior (tons of cargo room) yet drives tight like these smaller suv's. Oh, and engine is the same as this XC60 but with a tad more power, and still excellent fuel economy. Volvo has excellent discounts at this time; I've recently seen 2017 XC90 R-Designs (sport package) priced at

What is also surprising is that the 90 is built with so much light weight steel that it's barely more than 100 lbs heavier than the 60, which is a much older design. So acceleration shouldn't feel radically different.

Lexus would be ahead if it were at sea level. High elevation is not kind to normally aspirated engines. Lost about 20% of its rated power. The other two turbo vehicles hardly loss any in comparison, just slower spool up than if it were sea level, translating to minimal losses in acceleration. Just the way forced induction works.

    Dear TFL,
Doing an in-depth comparative test of several competing vehicles is a great idea. However, the points system may require some refining. The 1-2-3 method isn't sufficiently nuanced to reflect varying degrees of separation. Perhaps points out of 10 would provide more emphasis.

Gents......great video comparison, I drove em all, plus the Jag F-Pace. Everyone of them does pretty much everything super good, and some points a bit better than the others, the Mark Levinson stereo in the Lexus is superb, Lincoln interior amazing, and Volvo just a darn good deal (although I'm baffled on the 0 to 60 thing, as my seat test says Lincoln faster than the Volvo and so does most other sites).......however, don't take this the wrong way, but neither of you guys are slender lads. There is no way you can sit in the F-Sport bolstered seats without the ridiculously hard ridges digging into your hamstrings. Those seats are a problem, and you ain't doing 300 miles in them without feeling like a worn out rag. Plus the "regular" Lexus is the same rig as the F-sport engine wise anyway......so the run of the mill RX 350 is just as good, with way better seats. The Jag F-Pace though......what a great drive, they need to catch up a bit in the interior game, but killer good vehicle too. Ironically, we bought the MKX, the 22 way massaging seats and the pull of that turbo did it. And the black velvet exterior with 21's and the interior is terracotta leather. Lets see if Ford can keep it as good as I hope........

I understand that "showing" the performance is more "telling" but your test doesn't factor in driver error. At 60mph you're moving 88ft/second which means a half second slower reaction time to the cone is 44ft,1/4 is 22ft, 1/8th is 11 etc. I don't doubt the outcomes but it's not a very "good" test if you're going to rate it "safest" per those outcomes.
Anyway keep up the good work. And keep up the morning videos!

The RX350 destroyed the other two “competitors”…I didn’t even need to see the video to know the Lexus would win.

The Volvo comes with a base 2.0 turbo too with 250 hp, this one is the middle option engine

i think Lincoln failed again just like their navigator trying to complete with Escalade. I'm a fan of Volvo but I'll have to give this one to Lexus. Xc60 is too conservative looking interior and exterior but I would pick Volvo for safety.

The XC60 does technically compete with the MKC and NX, not the the MKX and RX.

could see in video that he brakes a second later with the Volo than the others.... its hard to breake the exact same at the excact speed everytime though so understable......

Another thing in the brake test the cars were on different parts of the test strip and may not have the same grip. Plus, when it was the Lincoln's turn, probably a little scary to slam on the brakes with the others car so close. Motorweek test shows 121 feet for the Lincoln which is very good.

why would you pay 65k for an old lady lincoln title. lexus is way more reliable and holds its value great. my mother recently got the base lexus rx 350 and it basically has all the thing lincoln would have for 44k

I know it's a mashup but did you have to get the XC60, it doesn't compare to the RX and MKX the XC90 does.

+Joshua R The XC90 does not go up against the MKX or RX especially having it being a large 7 seater.

cameron-scott smith The XC90 is slightly larger, but still qualifies as a midsized.

We had 5 Toyota cars during last 11 years, and I think they are too optimistic about Mpg - it's always +1 or more l per 100km more that they say, always! Rav4 (2010, 4-cylinder) was 13-14 l/100km, Highlander AWD V6 2016 - 13.5/100km in average (9.5-10 on long highway trips).

The Lexus will last longer than both of them. The Lincoln stop-start system is defective and the dual super-turbo charging of the Volvo runs into problems later down the road.

Too bad the Volvo had the 2.0 t6 instead of the 3.0 t6. Would like to see what the r-design would've done as well.
