Nyepi in Balinese culture implies going absolutely silent, no light, no going out, no fire, just a time to be quiet and reflect.
marah -b.adrian . That’s a nice reminder during this time.
We'll be celebrate Nyepi on 25 March, takes only one day in Bali. This year, Nyepi starts early and all over the world are participating. I got mixed feeling for that.
It does get pretty old after six months of it though
@@brucekuehn4031 It's been nearly a year, and yes we get tired of it, but maybe we there's a cosmic reason why this happens?
That's certainly how I feel when I listen to this...I feel so still, although I tremble a little in awe. It's beautiful.
I didn't realize how much everything going on in the world was stressing me out, but this beautiful music brought me so much peace and comfort I'm just over here in my house crying but in a good way. Thank you.
Yep! May I suggest you a book? "Beauty will save the world", by Gregory Wolfe. Great reading!
Hi Trent - I hope you come back to this at some point now to remember this moment. I don't know where you're at in the world; I do know a whole lot is going on in it for everyone.
It's strangely nice to see them in street clothes. Between the angelic singing and the performance attire, I sometimes forget these are regular people who go out to eat and go to the doctor's office or whatever.
Regular people who happen to make beautiful music.
I totally agree.
it serves as a reminder that anyone can achieve something, and make beauty
Although it's also kind of weird to see them changing cloths several times during the song ;-)
You, wonderful young people and consummate musicians, have made the year of isolation bearable. Thank you.
Yes Katerina it is so uplifting in these troubled times .This music and looking out on all the greenery outside my house carried me through .
Thank you for 'pure tone' singing. Far more beautiful than vibrato.
Ken L thank YOU for inadvertently informing me that “no-vibrato” singing has its own term! ❤️
As someone who sings Renaissance polyphony as well as 20th century music I can assure you there's a place for both clean tone and vibrato.
Nonsense. You need both to produce good music. I concede vibrato can be overused and some singers have a vibrato that is wide enough to annoy or distract but pure tone can sound thin and inadequate to express the emotions of the soul.our voices are magnificent instruments. They can be used in many different ways.
@@gruntorhawk9210 gruntor speaks no treason y'all
@@frogmouth agree. It depends on the music and style.
The resonance in some of these harmonies is crazy good. Sounds 100% like horns or an organ.
Or the harp, just gently adding a bit of texture. ☺️
That's when perfection brings tears.
What a blessing these voices bring to me, including the voice of the harp! Bringing us fully into the New year (2022), for healing of ourselves, our communities, all species, our Earth, & our Universe... Thank all of you, including the composer, so very much...
Jesus christ.... what a heavenly match of voices.
Lucky us who will watch this fantastic work for many years to come.
This group is musical excellence. Keep performing and sharing.
muziek is de grote trooster, en de menselijke stem het mooiste instrument. Prachtig, truly beautiful
Why does this beautiful music make someone like me cry, who otherwise cannot...?
Thank the universe for this breathtaking ensemble. May I pay a special tribute to Jim Clements and all the incredible arrangers who challenge these extraordinary musicians, and who meet every challenge with perfection.
1.30 am in Buenos Aires. 2°C outdoors, listening to Voces 8, and so much beauty inside as if I were in Paradise.
Beautifully haunting. A burst of hope amidst the current pandemic. Thank you for the music 🧡
This choir is special.....and this piece right here is rare in a world that needs to get the very depth of peace and our soul in God and life. The voices collaborating together is like nothing you will ever hear much today. Let this be the main video you listen to...take the time to put off everything else around you. Be still....
Как же прекрасно вы поёте , ребята , делайте больше видео , идеальный баланс голосов. Желаю вам здоровья и всех благ
Hauntingly beautiful...I close my eyes in pure enjoyment of the marvelous blend, vocal control and balance. Thank you!
So here I am in the Outback of Wyoming-on Old Lady Coronavirus Lockdown. What a blessing to have Voces8 on my little Ipad. The harp is a special boost, too. As always, Thank You!😷💞🌟
I feel so honored that I had the chance to see you in Wisconsin a few weeks ago. I hope you all are staying safe and healthy. Please keep sharing your beautiful music, especially now when everyone is homebound. Your harmonies are angelic and peaceful, just what the world needs more of now. ❤️
Ooo! When the harp enters!
Nice to discover Voces8 and their wonderfull music during this difficult covid-19 crisis worldwide. Good Luck to you all.
God bless you for your deep hearts and compassion, always and especially evident in this song. Your humanity brings Divine Light to allay the fear and anxiety as well as grief affecting so many. Grace and Auspiciousness be yours in abundance.
Proof lyrics are not needed to hear something amazing. Simply beautiful..
In a word...ETHERIAL...but as is always the case with these beautiful - musical souls...one word is not nearly, and will never be enough.
Great music, Great performer, Great Choir....i'll Never be tired of you guys! Thanks
Love this! Yall keep spreading your beautiful music! Thanks for posting this. Lost a friend 9 days ago and this helped.
Amazing. Found you through Instagram. Keep your music up there. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A few moments of calm in all the present madness. Thank you.
While I have loved every configuration of singers in this group since 2015, this particular set of voices stood apart. Their collection of timbres is so astounding together. This piece exemplifies it so well.
What a beautiful performance. Sonically perfect. Visually very nice yet quite imperfect, compromised by a wardrobe change mid-way. It is obviously edited from more than one take making it feel less 'live' than perhaps was intended. Why quibble? Because VOCES8 has high standards and this is below them imho. Still a joy to listen to. Thank you.
This is just session footage which is cut to fit the edited CD audio. The idea is to give the listener a behind the scenes perspective. Glad you enjoyed it.
Sublime ! pourquoi pas plus de public sur cette page à écouter ces merveilles, les voix de la pureté des âmes humaines ! très profond pour méditer dans son jardin :) merci
It feels like you guys bring me to a place where it is serene 😍😍.
When people rehearsing with the only instrument we carry with us every where we go remind us of the thing that connects us all...
The world needs to participate in Nyepi right now. Thank you for the wonderful performance as we welcome Nyepi this Wednesday the 25th of March! :) Greetings from Indonesia 🙏🏼
Already midnight here, and such a blessing to listen this song in quiet moment like this! Thankyou & God bless us all!
We need you all and the exquisitely beautiful music you make now more than ever. Thank you for bringing the light in such a dark and strange time. Please be well (and wash hands often). 😉 Love from California. 🧡
not even a word spoken or singed, yet so beautiful...
Praise God for this angelic voices!!!
Such beauty ! Furthermore, quite a coincidence that the Hindu Balinese festival of Nyepi is indeed going to take place next week on the 25th of March
What is the Hindu Balinese festival of Nyepi?
@@xixexperience5882 it's a day of purification for Balinese Hindu, it's like the jewish sabbath in the sense that no one is allowed to do anything on that day, all day they just pray and meditate for the world
Yess, Indonesian Hands up!
Oh my God…… I can’t just control my feelings when I listen to this
Truly this must be the sound in the sky. Thank you very much
Speechless. WOW
My absolute favorite person on this planet, Olafur. Instant sub. Beautiful rendition! Sincerely wish I'd known about March 25th. I would have loved to have participated and honored their tradition.
Beautiful! Wish you guys the best in these crazy times...
Next wednesday 25 March is Nyepi, the day of silence. Perfect timing for this video to come out.

I love your cover of the song so much. It feels like angels singing!
Olafúr is such an amazing artist, what a wonderful idea to have his songs sung by choirs. You would be my first choice too! Very touching
Good Morning VOCES8, and greetings from St. Louis, Missouri! Thank you for this video. It's great to see and hear you today!
I'm currently studying from home, since my college decided to go online for the remainder of the semester (which is hard to do as a music education major). This provides so much calm to my day and it's wonderful to hear something so pure! Thank you guys for the video
Kocham Was, Wasze Śpiewanie. Gratuluję.
Such chilling chords.
So beautiful! Thank you very much!
Very VERY beautiful, thanks!
Amazing and beautiful as always. Thank you so much for sharing your magical sound with us!!
Virtuous, high-minded, truly. So many thanks for this +VOCES8
Very similar to the other piece composed by Ólafur Arnalds. However, this one seems to be more complex and the range is bigger. The same kind of peace radiates through it. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for this 4 minutes of peace an calm in these crazy times we all are facing rigth now! Stay safe and bless you!
Stunning, serene, true, sublime... thank you
The purity of your sound is magnificent indeed!
Just Perfect.
How often do they have to rehearse to reach this level of perfection, I wonder?
Quite a lot, I’m sure!
But their first reading is probably beyond where most church choirs stop, thinking, That’ll sound good on Sunday morning!
@@katharinelloyd5293 I'd go along with that.
This is so beautiful!!
Esto es...maravilloso
Very beautiful! Wishing you all the best at this time. I sang my last service for a while last night and you just can't replace that feeling of singing together.
Beautifully soothing. (How many clothes changes does Katie bring to a recording!). Love listening to this group.
Happu Nyepi Day to all Hindus, and the rest of the world too.
Im sorry, who is the angels that sing high C#6 in 1:22 - 1:25 just amazed in silence. Love Voces8 always
Thanks for being true to the music.
Beautiful ❤️

Beautiful. My heart is full.
So beautiful! Thanks You Voces8!
This is a perfect expression for the current time with all those embarrassing informations. all the the best for you musiclovers.
Not sure if it was planned that Katie would wear a jumper in half of the segments, and not in the other half 😅
Splendid singing nonetheless!
Hey Josse, good spot! This video isn’t us singing live, it’s a collection session footage with the recorded track set behind it.
@@VOCES8 Ah, right! Well, good job on you guys, keep up the good work!
nice way tbe quarantined with Voces8
This made me cry, thank you for this!
I love you, as always, Voces8! ❤
Absolutely beautiful.
I know it's probably irritating to the other members of the team, but Andrea is the one who draws me to these presentations. She is so talented, beautiful and inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing, I love these UA-cam snippets!
Besser gehts kaum noch.
Your work brings a great measure of peace and joy to my soul. God bless you all. 💙
Maravilhoso, simplesmente incrível! Vocês são a minha maior inspiração. ❤ Kisses from Brazil
Sublime hermosura para tiempos de horror. Gracias por emitir este halo de luz que ilumina lo mejor del alma humana de entre los escombros de la muerte y el caos.
The best choice. Thanks for the text. O hope, people are learning to be GRATEFUL 💚. Many thanks to VOICES 8.🎶 Many thanks to everybody who is RESPONSIBLE nowadays.💚 Betty from the 💚 of Europe - The Czech Republik
You guys can make anything sound so good!
So grateful I found you guys. Please do "Only In Sleep" by Eriks Esenvalds!! Please!
Yes please!!!!
Qué lindo! Gracias! Si, me gusta ésta onda descontracturada.
such incredible music
thank you
Awesomeness! I didn't know Napoleon Dynamite played the harp!
Beautiful as ever.
Great acoustics there, too, for this type of music. Wherever this was recorded.
Kocham Was całym serduszkiem! :D
Unreal thankyou
Wow! So lovely!
Randall Thompson's Peaceable Kingdom has been playing in my head on a loop for the last few weeks. Would you guys consider doing extracts from it? I know there are many voice parts in some sections, so I don't know if it can be done by eight voices. But it would be amazing to hear one of the world's best choirs sing it! I love your version of Whitacre's A Boy and a Girl (and many others!). Such control, precision and clarity. Brings me to tears!
You keep Musical Art in its Purity without extra foams. Thanks
Pure beauté....comment est-ce encore possible dans nos sociétés de pourris ? ?? That is the question 😂😂 et du coup, en complet décalage....à peine audible...
Thank you, I needed this on my first day of lockdown. Hope you're all home and safe.
Beautiful. A day of fasting and silence to ground ourselves amid the turmoil.
Thank You.
Listening to this octet is like interning the gates of heaven. Each one is an angel. When the American does a crescendo it takes my breath away
