Anything Not-Modern is the way to go. Most modern things have unnecessary crap in them that are only designed to cost a fortune to repair when they break down after a few years or so.
If anyone's talking about what's the best washer they can ever buy... well they're talking GM Frigidaires lol.

I agree although I only have 1 vintage machine... Miele Novotronic W906, at least 20 years old but built like a rock. They apparently do not blow up from having bricks thrown in them... someone did a stress test on a Miele Novotronic and all it did was get unbalanced and shake the roof off. It would not blow up no matter how heavy the bricks wee.
