Riding US 101 | 2022 Cross Country Day 8

- We started the 8th day of our 2022 Cross Country Motorcycle trip on September 2, 2022 in Eureka, CA. While the weather wasn't great to start it got much better throughout the day. While sicking to US 101 for most of the day, we took some detours early on to include Avenue of the Giants and the Drive Thru Tree Park. We rode across the Golden Gate Bridge and then through San Francisco as we made our way to Monterey for the night. While we faced the typical city and CA highway traffic, it wasn't quite so bad as we got to do some lane splitting saving us a ton of time.

Theses locations and spots are the only reason why i continue to live here! CA HAS THE BEST RIDING FOR ALL YEAR ROUND!
.... I'll always take rain over heavy smoke, especially what you guys rode through.
Passing on the right is a big time ticket, even your sister would not be able to talk herself out of. Great video
I've been enjoying this series. I live 15-minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge, that view coming into the city never gets old. Paying a $8.50 toll each time does get old. And there's no easy way to get through SF. But plenty of great roads in northern California.
NICE!!! Thanks guys. All the best from CANADA!
Awesome riding especially sis lane splitting with bags for the 1st time. Well done!
Beautiful!! Well done good lad!!
Lane splitting pretty stressful, good content. Thanks
I live between Eureka & Arcata, welcome to my neck of the woods!
I always recommend electric gear and layers.
Another very cool video! Bet you're glad you're note rolling down the 101 now! Loved the lane splitting shots. My second time lane splitting out there, got to follow a CHiP!
Crazy seeing yall on my commute (Santa Rosa to SF) All that brown pasture is now green after these rains. Even more beautiful :o
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing! Lane splitting with bags must get a little tight at times.
You guys were SO close to the best part. The Lost Coast. Just north of the Ave of Giants. Look it up. Back sand beaches. Almost zero traffic. Spend the night in Shelter Cove. Great video.
Another great video thanks for the ride along
Hwy 101 southern Oregon through northern California is a pleasant ride and incredible coastal views. Becomes a classic California freeway the farther south you go. We normally cut over to the Hwy 1, which is in the top 5 of favorite roads for me. Great trip and episode👍
It rained for us all the way up the 101 and through the redwoods when we travelled it in 2019.
Awesome series Mario. 👊🏻✊🏻
Appreciate it
Great Video . I rode out last April , flew back revisited in August and Mid November . My bike is in Sacramento still gotta visit Golden Gate Bridge Ave of Giants , and Yosemite before heading to Yellowstone first week of August. I plan to fly out early May to kickoff the season 👍
my first lane splitting experience through San Francisco a few years ago I only clipped one car mirror. let the good times roll...
i ride up and down the coast a lot early spring when its like 55 so there is no traffic and tent camp. i like the twisty roads not tracking how mutch distance i cover. ferndale and mattole road, lost coast has amazing scenery if the surface isn't so great, there's not mutch in shelter cove but the road to it has a very consistent language with good flow easy to get after it. hiway 1 north of SF has no comparison, its just a good ride. the road out to point reys lighthouse is good its what i imagine the Scottish hilands is like, then also in that same area is a tiny one lane road to the top of the hill missing the name but its an adventure.
Very nice 👍🏽 tall red wood trees are amazing, thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Great video, what huge red oak trees, must be hundreds of years old..see you did some lane splitting, it is one of the fun parts of riding and your sister did very well for her first time.. thanks for sharing stay safe.
Awesome vid! I don’t know how people get anywhere in CA in cars…that traffic was horrible 😱
Every time I've been out there I get stuck in traffic (in the car anyway)
Got to love the Cali lane splitting, imagine if you had to sit in that for hours in those temperatures :) We noticed when we rode there that most of the cars/vans moved over but the big trucks and motorhomes just ignore you. Great video as always x
Awesome adventure, totally digging the route you two took! Of all the times I've been to Cali, I've never done the Ave of the Giants....that will change the next time I'm there. Super jealous of all the seat time, especially since we're in the cold months. I've got a 5-dayer planned for the mountains of TN and north GA in April....I can't wait.
Pretty amazing scenery! Except for the bed-head in the opening shot, that was kind of funny. Bit of a close call while filtering, looked like. Idiots abound.
Went across the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time last September. Still waiting on that toll bill lol.
I just paid 5 of those for the Richmond bridge. I can't imagine having to commute daily with all the tolls and Fast Pass Express Lanes.
I haven’t got my toll bill yet either
I agree with @rick. Right where you turned off hey101 fpr Ave of the Giants. Had turned right and stayed on French rd. it would’ve lrad you to the Lost Coast
Eric, Black Swan Odysseys
Very nice ride. The redwoods were amazing! I just don't feel good about lane splitting or an CA highway 😕.
Eh..it was all good
What dash light indicator on Angela’s bike? Beautiful ride, thx for taking us along.
Low fuel
I understand the lane splitting but are you allowed to ride on the berm to pass traffic? I guess if you don't get caught you are. Cool trees nice ride. Thanks
I have the same KTM 1290T. I would like to buy the top case. Is it installed with some support or does it just go on the grill? thank you
Hope everything's OK, haven't seen any new videos for a while now
Everything’s good. Video series will pick back up in the coming weeks. Been on travel a lot lately. Also got some podcasts out this month and we’re racing for the 2nd time this month so behind on editing.
@@2WRglad to hear
Take care
Mario, one quick question on your audio. I'm on my 3rd helmet mic. Plus several other GOPRO adjustments trying to get rid of the crackling sound while speaking. I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get rid of it.
Thanks
So I've been using this mic for year amzn.to/3QHu4PN along with 2 wind screens. Additionally, i do some editing in post
How did you get your bikes out there? Ride, trailer, ship?
Ride. The entire trip start to finish is documented but only the first 8 days posted so far
Are you still and Cal. LOL
Been traveling for work and racing on the weekends. Video series will resume in a couple weeks.
