  • Sciatica is a term that has been loosely used to describe intense low back, buttock, and leg pain. The problem is that this can sometimes misinform you on which exercises to do as multiple different root problems cause "sciatica-like" symptoms. In this regard, it is "pseudo sciatica".
True sciatica usually occurs as the result of a disc herniation (also known as lumbar radiculopathy). It can also occur in peripheral neuropathies such as piriformis syndrome. This type of pain is call radiating pain
Pseudo Sciatica can be caused by muscles and joints that produce referral pain. Structures such as the Sacroiliac joint, the sacroiliac ligaments, iliolumbar ligament, and the gluteus minimus muscle are some that can do so.
In today's video we go over the gluteus minimus and exercises that you can do with minimal equipment at home to start your recovery.

This was one the money. I do manual labor and exercise regularly. For the longest time I thought it was piriformis syndrome. But it didn't really make sense with where on my hios I was sore. Thanks!
