You already have the electricians pissed at you now you looking for a double whammy having the plumbers pissed😀great job! I’m sure your brother appreciated 👍

Just my reason for disliking gas. Anyway I like your videos I'm retired now but I can relate to a lot of what you're doing and going trough. Good luck 🤞 👍 🤗
I have two new 40 gal gas WH to replace. My house and my sister’s house. Her just started leaking at 18 yrs. Mine is 21 and luckily still ok for now. But my new AO Smith is in my van right now, where it’s been the last month just waiting.
In my area, an expansion tank and pressure relief valve piped to within 6 inche of the floor is required. Your area doesn;t require an expansiopn tank?
Yea I've never had to change one on a Bradford white yet. I knew it was on one of the sides. That's one thing I don't like about the brand. Hopefully your able to take it out without cutting the pipe.
Usually you can drain it from the hot side after removing the fitting, then just punch out the center. But then again your like 5ft from the door, lol just roll it out.. None the less always a great video like always!! 🎉🎉
@thehandymanexperience226 you made it work like always. I guess you got lucky because the cold side has a longer down tube so that it can distribute the hot water evenly. Like you said on the hot side you would have to run pex or cpvc with a hose adapter. Or I've see it done on the TMP valve on the top, but I bet you could use pex even if it was on the side because it's flexible.
@@thehandymanexperience226 I was looking at the crescent self adjuster for a little bit, but decided to get a Rigid 14'' pipe wrench instead. Thanks for the info!
Just a heads-up, im no pro , but if you have a sealed system you might want to put in a expansion tank or if not put in a vacuum breaker. To protect your appliances or from having your water heating collapse. 🤙
Whenever I come across a home without a (prv) I do everything I can to sell one and add an expansion tank especially when I see older copper. They seriously are not that much money but well worth it for the homeowner, both of those items. Generally, a quick pressure reading on an outside tap does it for most reasonable homeowners. I have seen PSI upwards of 100+ incoming.
all depends on the area. our township has water supply which feeds the houses at 140psi so a PRV is required. 1 township over they feed houses 40 psi consistently so prv not required
Question: I've seen a lot of houses grounded thru the plumbing but what was the reason for the grounding between the hot and cold pipes? That's the first time I've seen that.
In my area they require the ground. They say since there is dielectric fittings there not getting a good enough connection. Pretty much like a water meter and how it needs to be grounded before and after
I only put a ground on the water heater because it's required cus of the dielectric fittings. There required for water heaters where I'm at. With pro press the copper Is still touching copper or else u would have to bond every single fitting
Clean installation but I did notice electrical bonding was incomplete forgot to attach to gas line bro. Question where is the TPR draining to? If it's just there without going to the outside of the home I would suggest a Watts 210 valve. It's a valve used when you can't get the TPR to drain outside, or when the water heater is in the home or on a closet that can cause water damage. Almost forgot to mention Expansion tank.
Pro press is the real investment, got me the m12 copper cutter never liked it, one of the worst tools from milwaukee. Good job man looks nice and clean install
The old water heater lasted 30 years the way it was hooked up with the copper plumbing. I would have put together the new one the same way and could have soldered the fittings for a few dollars rather than pay for the expensive pro press fittings. Also, soldering pipe is fun and will last 75 years.
Yea I used to solder but since getting the crimper it's too convenient not to use it. Yea the fittings r definitely pricey but worth it. Yea I'm pretty positive that this water heater won't last 30 years. Things aren't built like they used to be
Sometimes if you turn the main water back on as your trying to drain it - it can help force shit through and get it going. That thing was probably half sediment and crud.
No expansion tank? Are you trying to be the next Picasso? Painting a gd picture with that pipe dope.....lol. sorry man, i just couldnt help myself. Ive seen my apprentices doing that, and that is my go-to line when they are taking forever doping or PRIMING the pipe
@thehandymanexperience226 come on.. lol I'm sure you could figure out your HVAC system. It's rare its something to do with the charge unless it's very old. Preventative maintenance is key, Flame sensor & Caps of course filters .
Steve Lav said he's not against Propress . It all has it's time and place, like when you can't get the water to stop dripping. He's just old school and the investment doesn't make sense to him. Just saying.. people love to bash Steve, that guy has been in the field for a long time not to mention UA-cam as well.
That dude is insane. He tried to blame his customer because he didn't properly winterize a home. He also was confused why some lady got mad that he got sewage on her curtains. Thinks he can do no wrong

@MrGaborseres a properly installed gas water heater won't kill you. Additionally, a gas detector will alert you of leaks.

He would call me a press queen lol
Steve would be mumbling the whole time, “I ain’t touching that”.

Why did you use the hand cutter vs the m12 cutter?
Cus that tool isn't waterproof it will stop working if a ton of water gets into it. It happened to me before
That makes sense now. I assume on a line that has already been bleed, no problem. Thanks for the reply, big fan. In the St Charles area.
