They have split systems for different environments, we have one that's rated to -40Celcius it goes to -30 sometimes here only two or three days in the winter. Weather sealing and insulation really matter with these for effectiveness and longevity, and installing the outdoor until where it'll permanently stay level, here the ground freezes and thaws and when people install them on cement pads the pad sinks and the outdoor unit is 20° out of level, it's common practice here, and we can get 3' deep snow so I've installed my outdoor unit on a wall bracket 4' off the ground.

I’m a beginner woodworker. I’ve started making chicken coops bc we started last spring having chickens. Anyway, I want to start making other projects. I have so much “ I can’t do that!” In my head. I’ve taken classes at woodcraft in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I’m from. I LOVE your channel. I watch a lot of your content. When I saw the video on you getting your Sawstop I teared up for you. I probably teared the whole video. Ha! Anyway! Thank you for inspiring me. You da bomb! Oh also I love that you love Jesus bc I do too!

Very cool setup and, it’s amazing how much you have in a relatively small space. I have a 2-car tandem garage, so basically one stall is twice as long as a regular garage, but I also have to park two cars in the garage every night, not to mention the 50 totes of Christmas decorations and all the crap you accumulate over the 20 years we’ve lived here.
Most of my tools are on flip carts as everything has to be pushed against the walls of the garage, so everything is on wheels. It sucks having to roll everything against the walls and clean up at the end of the day so I can pull the cars in, but it is what it is. The main issue I have is the lack of storage! I picked up a couple ideas from your video, so perhaps I’ll incorporate those. I agree with you that an assembly table is a must. Mine is only 3x7 given my space, but it gets more use than anything I have. The horse stall mats are a great idea, but I put down a nice epoxy floor and not ready to cover it up, so just have a mat in front of my assembly table. Thanks for the shop tour!

So, for vertical storage area... add wheels.
Build a box 10'x2' from 2x4, on top of 3/4" ply, leave one 2' side open, attach 2x4x4' to the corners (vertical posts to stop the boards from falling), and I'd make it so it can rotate a bit out so that you can slide stuff in past the end of your stairs when it's "opened" (I like rotation, pinned to floor rather than 4 casters because the whole cart will have a tendency to tip, so anchor that to a post anchored to floor. Add 2 casters for the "in/out" side and presto... vertical sheet storage, and you can get to the front or back easily. and it doesn't take too much space... I can make a sketch, but I think you got it.
I'd also put a catch on the wall on the 2x4 closest to the stairs so it can be anchored high up and won't rotate on its own...

Some Minisplit units work a lot better than others in low temps.... you have to get a "low ambient temp" model. Mine is rated to -13*F .... and some work at even lower temps. They don't work very well at the rated lowest temp, but it gives much better performance for example at 8*F than a non-low temp unit. Mine works really well down to around 0* but then fights frost build up and starts to lose a lot of the btu output. I've had it making a little heat at -15-20*F but not much :)

To support the comments of another person on mini split units. I live in central Ohio where the temps can dip below zero. I have an LG Red Zone 15K unit for a 550 sq ft shop. I barely notice change in my electric bill and I've never had any trouble keeping the shop on temp. I did my research and at the time this was the best unit for me. One thing I did compare was I looked into a cheaper unit that is very popular and rated as DYI. AS always I compare weight of the overall product meaning how much metal versus plastic in it and the LG was almost twice the weight, was not a hard choice. It was also comparable in weight and performance with the Mitsubishi which tends to be the gold standard in mini splits. My unit is efficient down to 5 degrees and then starts to loose efficiency and will produce heat down to -14. To conclude I insulated well with 7" in the walls and 10" in the ceiling and double pain windows. Ron J from Central Ohio

I just got more into wood working and so glad I found your channel. Our main business is landscaping/snow plowing and our shop is now split in half leaving me about a 15x30 area to do the wood stuff but even with the basic tools it's getting cramped. We rent our shop so attaching things to the walls would be nice, it's not allowed. One thing my Landlord is going to have to do is fix the friggen lights! Our ceiling is 20ft tall and theres 6 banks of 8ft dual fluorescent tube lights but only half work lol so it makes very tough to see cut lines etc. One question, does the humidity affect the wood with warping? Our shop is not cooled and only heated with a torpedo heater or porch heater.

Nice garage workshop! Randomly found your channel not long ago and glad I did! Also I Love that you aren't afraid to wear your faith...literally on your T-shirts. Keep up the good work and work for GOD first and foremost.

Without question, you have an amazing setup. It's obvious you also have some effective organizing skills. I'm in the information gathering and tool/accessories accumulation stage. Have to insulation our new 16' x 12' shed before I can start moving stuff from the garage. Watching your videos has cost me a small fortune without cutting a thing. LOL I absolutely enjoy learning from your videos.

My husband puts up with both my woodworking & my eBay reselling. He loves the stuff I build for him though.

Great video Matt. Half of my 2-car garage is storage so I don't have the room for a miter or a filtration station and things like that. I'll figure something out. God bless.

Great Video Matthew. I haven't been with you from the very beginning, but I praise God for finding your channel when I did.
Like you, I have a loving wife, that has stayed by my side, I look to both of you as role models of how to pull off the family business thing.

Awesome video. If you’ve never ordered from 731 you need to try it. I ordered a router bit tray and it was the coolest package I’ve ever received. I can tell you that Amazon cannot hang with Mrs 731. The personalization that goes into your packaging is genius and separates you from everybody else. I won’t go into details here, just place an order and you’ll see for yourself what I’m talking about. And mentioning Jesus in this video….. 100%! After all that’s our main job and you guys seem to never forget that. Continued blessings my friends!

I love you guys and your public testimony. Keep it up. I wish I could have the space you have for a shop. No support here like you have. I take care of a house for some missionaries and they let me use a shed for a shop. I really need to learn to maximize space. I just acquired my Dad's shop and don't have room to work.
