Hey Nathan! TRUE from Jon and The Band Geeks is definitely my Album of the Year. Just an incredible collaboration! 10/10. Jon, now 80, sounds amazing. The band is awesome. This album makes me smile every time I play it. Thanks Nathan!👍⭐️😎

Great list! You covered most of the best ones. A few more that were favorites of mine include The Chariot, from Arcana by Circe Link and Christian Nesmith; Back in Time, by Oddleaf; Patterns of Illusion, from Motion Carries by Emerald City Council; Chasing the Dragon, from Imposter! By Joe Dennison and Straospheerius, among some others.

Kudos on Frost and Neal Morse, two of my favorites! Some of your picks I'm going to have to check out. Thanks!

Sam Vallen in back to back epics at #7 and #6!
Thanks so much for including us!
I got to talk to Caligula's Horse a bit about Charcoal Grace when they were in Vancouver last February - they said the goal with it was to write something where each of the movements worked as its own standalone song, but that also flowed and held together as an epic at the same time. I think they achieved that - it's one of my favourite songs (and albums) of the year.

You're welcome, very well deserved! And I agree about Charcoal Grace- will most likely do well in my album of the year list!

Some good picks here. There's a couple you didn't mention that would also make my top 5. Firstly, Isildur's Bane & Jinian Wilde - RISE parts 1 & 2. And secondly, probably my most played song of the year - Toehider - Toad Hirer.

Those are great choices! As soon as I finished filming this video, I realized that I had forgotten to include Toehider, which would certainly make the list. In my defense, I had it listed in my music library as a 2023 release, because I got it early by being a member of his Patreon, but regardless it should be on the list!
Will have to check out the other epic you mentioned!

@@NathanOnShuffle A very forgiveable oversight then! The Isildur's Bane track won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I'd say it's definitely worth a whirl if you're feeling adventurous. They're a fascinating band - active since the mid-70s, and often straddling a fine line between symphonic prog and something more experimental/avant-garde. Really unique sonic textures. In recent years they've done collaborative albums with the likes of Steve Hogarth, Peter Hammill and now Jinian Wilde. Jinian was a new name to me, but he's a perfect fit for their sound. The whole album's been one of my sleeper hits of the year.

It's been a great year. We've had the same number one album for the last three years. I suspect that this year we won't but probably we won't be far apart.

I'm still not 100% sure about my number one, but I'm sure we are circling around some of the same top albums!
