Once again thank you! It's creators like you that keep the scene going with honesty and community :) Looking forward to sending you our upcoming project and we should have a beer when we are in the same part of the country !
Yo fr fr hit me up if you're playing a show in Manchester anytime, I would love to hang out before the show, sink a couple of brews and then go crazy in the pit 🤟🤟🤟
Discovered your channel through this video and I'll definitely be checking out your other/future reviews! There seems to be some great bands & albums in this list that I'd never heard about and I'm looking forward to checking them out, Dawn Treader especially! I'll throw in my own honorable prog album mention for 2024 that I think people should really check out and that's Haven by Marianas Trench! There's really no other band I can think of that does pop prog the way they do. Sure, they're definitely more on the pop rock side of things, and it would be easy to dismiss them as nothing more if you were to listen to only the poppier tracks, but all of their albums have undeniably progressive elements throughout them, think of a hodgepodge of Queen, Jim Steinman, My Chemical Romance, the poppier side of Coheed and Cambria, and most 80s pop prog, with less emphasis on technical playing, and more emphasis on precisely executed and acrobatic vocals & harmonies with really interesting modulations. Long story short, I think most prog lovers would at least somewhat enjoy some of their stuff and I think they're worth checking out, because they seem to be slept on in the prog community! Tracks to check out from their latest album to get a good first impression would be A Normal Life, Turn and Run, and Haven, 20 minutes you won't regret! Peace, looking forward to checking out your channel more!
This is my honorable mentions. These all had at least one song or two that ended up on my playlist and were close to making the top 10, though these were very close behind. Honorable mentions: OU - Frailty Korpiklaani - Rankarumpu 200 stab wounds - Manual Manic Procedures Devin Townsend - PowerNerd Almo - Reconciliation Beardfish - Songs for Beating Hearts Celtian - Secretos de Amor y Muerte Unleash the Archers - Phantoma Judas Priest - Invincible Shield Izz - Collapse the Wave Weather Systems - Ocean without a Shore Also, this is rather variable in what is in my list. There's a bunch of metal with prog, neo-prog, Spanish power metal, and some fun folk.
You know it's been a good year for music when albums like Charcoal Grace, Beyond the Reach of the Sun, Life in the Wires, and A Dream Is All We Know end up on your "Honourable Mentions" list. (Spoiler: All of those albums are on my top-15 of the year list).
Nice list. It reminds me I'm still missing a few albums that could make this year's top (Beardfish and Thy Catafalque, notably) and I see there two which will be in my 2024 best list (Alcest and especially Slift, that has been sitting on top pretty much since day 1).
Love Alcest. It made my list. So did Thy Catafalque. Been hearing that one a lot too. Anciients was very good. Never heard of them before this release.
Some very good albums in your honorable mentions. I’m slightly surprised to see Alcest in this list, as I might have expected it to be higher. For me, Alcest is in the top 3 for the year.
I need to give Alcest another try. I got a small artbook version of their green album a couple years ago but the whole book was focused on many photos of the main member. To say the least, I found it a bit ridiculous so lost interest in them. I'll try again

Right??? 2024 has been absolutely CRAZY!
What a list!!!
The amount of shredding and gnarly drumming in each band is unreal!
And yay Lemon Twigs!
The happiest album of the year!!
Yeehaw! Lots of good stuff here. You finally got me into Rosalie and I must thank you.
I'm so obsessed with her music right now 🥰🥰

Ilion is my go-to album to space out to ❤️
Interesting list
Eclectic, certainly :p
Love Alcest. It made my list. So did Thy Catafalque. Been hearing that one a lot too. Anciients was very good. Never heard of them before this release.
Their back catalogue is killer! The debut album is VERY good
I listened to most of this albums. All good but yeah a strong year for prog.
Best year of the 2020s so far for me!
Some very good albums in your honorable mentions. I’m slightly surprised to see Alcest in this list, as I might have expected it to be higher. For me, Alcest is in the top 3 for the year.
I feel it's more a comment on how good the top 15 are to me, rather than a put-down on Alcest! Lea Chants de l'Aurore is still absolutely stunning 🥰
Bluey is rock!
Bandit is peak dad goals
thank you so much for the kind words, and for picking up a CD!
It's a regular spin in my house, I love it so much!!
Caligula's Horse and Anciients are my favorites from your honorable mention list. I should check out the Rosalie Cunningham album.
She's incredibly fun! Real retro energy ❤️
