Hello Doug. I have really been enjoying your adventures around the Western part of Nevada. My father was born and raised in Fallon. I've been all over Nevada and consider it my second home as I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I will be looking forward to your next adventure.

That first area seemed so rugged and remote. It's funny that so many places you take us to, appear to be in the middle of nowhere, and yet there's evidence someone had already been there, long ago. It's mind-boggling! Yeah, those washes must be so dangerous, when flood waters roar through. We enjoy all the tidbits of info you impart to us, Doug... 🎉 That little town must be a welcome place with its gas station/store. That last destination was interesting. It seems like a good idea to be cautious about climbing that ledge... All in all, it appears that you and Kellie enjoyed your adventures. As always, we enjoy all we learn from your journeys. I had never heard about that dangerous saltlover. Once again, thank you so much for taking us along, Doug, as we went between NV and CA. 🎊👏🏻🏜⛽️ 👏🏻👏🏻

Hi Rhonda! As you know, we love going to the most remotest places. We are just country people who are at home on the frontier. Kellie and I will be trying to climb that ledge, but we want to fit in the pup fish before it gets too hot. Will be going up into the snow soon again also. So many places, so many projects, and so little time! The little town of Dyer is a tight knit hard working farm community...I have to check that vineyard out later in the year. They grow high quality alfalfa hay for the fancy hobby and race horses they truck over into California. Have a good one my friends!🫏🇺🇸🤸

Meanwhile back in the middle of nowhere which describes the area of the ruins perfectly. Actually it is between the
Palmetto , Sylvania and Sierra mines exactly. Maybe that is where they got their water from. Nice drive to and from
California on 266 which becomes 264 when back in Nevada. Riding shotgun with you both is always fun and interesting.

Glad you could come along with us Steve, especially with your good map reading skills, so we won't get lost! I think you are correct about the mines, so many in that area. I would be willing to bet there is still some gold to be found.

The burned structure at 10:00 minutes, is the remains of a stamp-mill. They operated efficiently using the gravity of a slope.

Perhaps the large round pool at the bottom of the hill and the metal structures on the hill above it is for the heap leaching process. 🙂. ??

Hi Brother Doug and Kellie! You guys took me by surprise on this one, didn't expect a video today, so it's kind of a late night treat. Your trip sure looked familiar ! I felt like I was "home" again. A long time ago I left my credit card at that store in Dyer, didn't discover it was missing until that night in Bishop! Had to make an unexpected trip back to Dyer the next day.
That Halogeton weed is bad news, our neighbors cattle were dying and nobody knew what was causing it unto the ag dept figured it out. It was beginning to take over his pastures and mine. First tumbleweeds then that stuff! Tough to be a rancher anymore. I was pretty good at raising weeds though! 😂
Thanks for the fun trip through my old stomping grounds Brother! 🇺🇸

It was a pleasure to bring you back through all the places where you forgot your credit card! Weeds, weeds, they never give up and they always end up getting the upper hand. That Halogeton is such a rascal...and the chollas can be assaulting! Heading to the snow...we are looking for places now that you HAVE NOT been...only because we love a challenge. Heading into the snow soon! 🇺🇸🛸🏂⛷️🧗

    So much terrain,so little time!
Odd to see a old structure burnt like that out there!
    It seems when remanat
    foundations were multi tiered
    it indicates mining of some
Sort! The miners seem to often use gravity to process their ore.

    • @CalNeva
      @CalNeva  3 місяці тому

I think you are right about that with the gravity ⛏️ mining.

Beautiful highway motorcycle riding country. You took NV-773 - U.S. 6 and tied into 95 at Coledale. I think U.S. 6 -N.V. 360 N. from Basalt to the 95 is more interesting and has remnants here and there. The gully and hillside with stickers you hiked on was covered with soon to be tumbleweeds. A tumbleweed "breeding ground." On UA-cam see the trailer for the 2008 movie "Killer Tumbleweeds"
I took my son to see it when it came out. :)
