I honestly love the original watch dogs. I remember being like 13 or something when it came out and thought it was such a badass idea. I revisited it after playing legion and found myself enjoying the hell out of it more than I did legion. I’ve heard criticism about it taking itself too serious, but it’s campy and I love it
I'm 13 nearly 14 and I finished watch dogs 1 this year. It was a great game and the graphics are still good. It shows that even if a game is old(ish) it can still be good.
to be honest, how did they manage to make legion worse than the first game
Have you ever tried only gun takedowns? My favorite part is when I say "it's wickin time" and then start wicking all over the place.

@@Fatoldman-ut7yl legion has really good wick takedowns but the variety is lacking compared the 1. Like quality over quantity but when it comes to moves in games you almost always want quantity. In 1 there's like 3 frontal weapon take down moves for pistols 2 for AR's and 2 moves from the rear with pistol and 1 rear move for the AR. I've watched alot of legion wicking style gameplay and it looks like there's only three moves for all weapons period. But those three moves look G as fuck

Good games usually get good reception.
If people were made aware of the wicking ability in this game it would've gotten updates and the bunker would be full of shit to do and the side missions added, but everyone cries about graphics. Graphic whores hindered this game

@@TommTooTone Nah if a games is good it gets good reviews which and sets a bar that which anything that goes below it gets hated like Watch dogs. Elden ring, the last of us, Spiderman ps4, the uncharted series, the infamous series, and far cry 3 good games that got good reviews.
I think Aiden also makes a great character to play as in a video game. He’s literally an excuse to hunt people down and kill anyone who gets in your way

Same. Watch Dogs is not one of my favorite series, simply because I only liked the first one a lot (2 and 3 were meh). However, WD1 will always be one of my favorite single player games. If they had continued the formula of WD1, it would easily be my favorite game series. Especially if it had the same characters and they expanded upon the original map like the newer SpiderMan games.
The problem is that 1) it came out shortly after GTA V which overshadowed every other game around that timeframe + 2) some people already had negative notions about it and stayed on that bandwagon, even well after its' release
WD1 suffered from Ubisoft completely overselling it, also didn't help it was released at a similar time GTA V was, so all attention was on that.

Your right, the game does deserve way more credit and praise then what it got before because it displays a great deal of realism on how destructive technology can be when exploited by someone with a particular set of skills in field of tech and so much more. Aiden is one of the most realistic base of his character arch that made him the man he is.
I have a strange love/hate relationship with Watch Dogs. I guess you could call it a guilty pleasure of mine. I know how flawed it is and it would have been such a better game had it not been rushed. But I can't help but love it the way it is. If it wasn't the mess it was, we may not have gotten Watch Dogs 2 (which imo is a huge improvement). In a way, its failure made it successful.
I'm feeling this kinda way with Ghostwire Tokyo these days.
I was sold when I first heard of watch dogs, got it day one and played it like crazy. I played online invasion a lot, and I loved it until people started exploits.

I don't see why Aiden Pearce's story is hated on so much. I really think he was one of the most well-written characters in video game history. In terms of story, I would definitely put Watch Dogs up there with RDR2.
People can say the game's shit but the gun close range takedowns and death animations can keep me entertained forever
Finally, a protagonist who's just as insane as you. Now you can experience true ludonarrative harmony for the first time. I'm already seeing some really good focus use. Try meleeing someone while you have a gun equipped and see what happens. All melees also regenerate your entire focus bar almost immediately, allowing you to play kind of like Doom 16

If we had the mechanics of 2/Legion with the grounded, serious, and darker tones of 1 - Ubi could actually make a fantastic open world game.
Hope they release a new watch_dogs game this time in the past at around 2003 with the early internet and most importantly around the time of the 2003 New York Blackout caused by T-Bone. We could have some returning characters such as T-Bone (obviously), Aiden and Damian. Of course, Aiden and T-bone don't seem to know each other before the events of WD1 so we could have the main character meet them in different missions where they won't see each other. Also, in the cutscene when T-Bone comes with Aiden to the bunker in WD1, Aiden mentions Damian to Clara and T-Bone gets angry even though he is supposed to not know him. From this we can imagine that the two already met before and this could be around 2003 in New York in the new Watch Dogs.
Some would think this idea could not work because we won't have many hacking opportunities because the CTos was not created yet. The main character will still be able to do some minor hackings such as cameras and computers. This will make the game slightly harder unlike watch_dogs legion which was for a lot of people (including me) way too easy.

Indeed wd1 has dark shadows and wd2 can't even run on low end pc such a shame that it has worst graphics. wd1 can run on Intel hd graphics 4 GB ram so what's the point playing wd2.

i played WD1 over and over again when i was younger, i was always fascinated by the idea of "hacking" and "hackers" so playing a game that involved that was so interesting to me, still some of the best gaming experiences ive ever had and that time was about 8 years ago now, amazing game.
The first watch dogs is the only one in the series I like.
I like them all 2 an 3 just cause the character voices an people losing their minds while playing

This is why I like to play games first before forming my opinion on it. I played it for the first time on June 6th, 2022 and I fucking loved it. I thought the story was great for a 2014 game, the combat was exhilarating, and the gameplay was clean. I also loved the parkour aspect that even drove me to play the next game just two weeks later. I love the entire WD series besides legion. Legion would be legend tier if the save data shit didn’t happen. I did the same mission 5 times now and that’s the last time I’ll do that. Tried to get a refund but apparently a broken game isn’t refundable.

While I personally prefer 2 and 3, I still enjoy the hell out of this one. Aiden is, like you said, nowhere near as bad a protagonist as people make him out to be, and the gameplay is simple yet fun

I payed full price for this game first day it came out just for it to be 12$ a month later. that’s where my hatred for ubisoft started
Playing again now on ps5 with the online turned on for the 1st time and wow. I love the pvp style in it. Just jumping into strangers' games to tale them and pretend to be an NPC to blend in. Hacking them and watching them go crazy trying to find you and seeing that last couple percent of the hacking progress bar go by before you're back in your own game knowing they're probably a little raged by not finding you. Really good community too. Made two new friends just last night from us hacking and tailing eachother and messaging to compliment or joke with one another. Best part was when I set a trap on the 2nd or 3rd floor of a parking garage in the far corner taking cover behind my car. I knew NPCs never go in these garages so if i saw one it had to be a hacker and i thought it'd be my friend as i had just hacked HIM. A couple minutes of waiting and someone turns the corner on foot walking up the ramp from the previous floor and I opened fire and killed the hacker immediately, before they even saw me. It ended up being a random hacker, not my friend. It was amazing because he walked into a trap set for someone else and i died laughing and feeling a bit guilty as I'm sure they were so confused
I notice a bit with brit reviewers is (while granted there can be some glaring immersion breaking ludonarrative dissonance)
they bullet point every single ludonarrative dissonant element of a video game as part of its failing. Instead of chalking it up to the big picture of how story in a game has overshadowed the game.

I really recommend this to give this game another try. It feels different then the world of GTA we all know.
Is it perfect no, but it has it own unique feeling to it. Add a graphic HD pack mod to it and the game looks stunning, defenitely at rainy night.
Yes it lacks on food and drinks outlets, driving mechanics are horrible, lack of decent clothing variation but i remember playing it hours just walking around looking at the dumb npc's id's, hearing them weird and funny conversation with each other, playin hours of poker and killing them if i lose at it. In the end its still up to you if you kill everyone or not, there still is a choise to battle them melee and still act like a civil protaganist.
I think the games world building is prob the best in the series. I perfer the more gritty and conspiracy theory of deadsec group. I’d like a prequel game to watch dogs 1 and how the council of Dave was formed
