Watch Dogs: Legion (stylised as WATCH DOGS LΞGION) is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It is the third instalment in the Watch Dogs series and the sequel to 2016's Watch Dogs 2. Set within a fictionalised representation of a futuristic, dystopian London, the game's story follows the hacker syndicate DedSec as they seek to clear their names after being framed for a series of terrorist bombings. DedSec also attempt to liberate London's citizens from the control of Albion, an oppressive private military company which turned the city into a surveillance state following the bombings.
While the core gameplay is similar to its predecessors, consisting of a combination of shooting, driving, stealth, and hacking puzzles, Legion introduces a multiple playable characters system, allowing players to recruit virtually any NPC found in the game's open world. Each playable character has their own unique skills and backgrounds, and can be lost permanently if players enable the option of permadeath before starting a new game. There are multiple ways to complete missions depending on which playable character is selected. In March 2021, a cooperative multiplayer mode was added to the game, allowing up to four players to complete missions or explore London together.
Legion was released on 29 October 2020 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia, and as a launch title in November for the Xbox Series X/S, the PlayStation 5, and Amazon Luna. Upon release, the game received mixed to positive reviews. Critics were polarized over the multiple playable characters aspect, with some appreciating its diversity and the inclusion of permadeath for allowing emotional attachment from players, while others criticized the characters' lack of personality and the imbalance between their abilities. Criticism was also aimed at the game's world, driving mechanics, inconsistent difficulty, repetitive missions, online features and technical problems.
Ubisoft supported Legion extensively after its launch, releasing a number of updates for both the single-player and multiplayer modes that added new missions, game modes, and playable characters; a crossover event with the Assassin's Creed franchise; and a paid story expansion, Watch Dogs: Legion - Bloodline, which continues the storylines of Aiden Pearce, the protagonist of the first Watch Dogs game, and Wrench, a major supporting character from Watch Dogs 2. Reception to post-release content has been generally positive, with some of the additions cited as being an improvement over the base game.

Gross. No sub. And your guidelines are dumb af lol.
You should try Alien Isolation
Sounds like a Zero Punctuation review.
Fun fact: if you own the season pass, you can play as Aiden in the main game, meaning that the entire story can be played as Aiden, instead of a random NPC

Ngl Aiden is such an underrated character. It sucks that back then everyone called him too edgy but honestly I loved this dlc. Not sure why the whole game wasn’t just focused around this.
i love aiden man. edgy is fun
'Edgy' is wayy too overused especially for a character like aiden in which ppl shitted in him internally for him being tOo EdGy, recommend watching 'whitelights' review of watch dogs 1
not to mention ubisoft taking a different direction for watch dogs as a series in which ubisoft changed with the 2nd game taking the change and compared to the first game, watch dogs 1 had a whole different tone that could've dwelve deeper but watch dogs 2 is too ridiculous kinda like saints row. ubisoft changed the direction because of how watch dogs 1 ended up and ppl reacted really shitty towards it mainly because of the downgrade but I feel like the base watch dogs 2 could've been a spin off or a expansion dlc like the 2 witcher dlc's and to see the feedback from fans
It's kind of obvious why Aiden wasn't the main character in the main game. He's a: SWM.
@@godzillazfriction pretty much a lot of people complained about Ubisoft back then. Watch dogs, assassins creed so really those fanbases have only themselves to blame for where the franchise is at now
Aiden is literally the face of watch dogs and will always be no matter what, there’s no other character in the franchise who can top the fox when it comes down to having a very well written flushed out complex character arch. plus it good he’s getting the recognition and credit he deserves. Playing as him was an absolute blessing and an amazing honor. If only his original outfit from WD 1 was wearable in legions.
I agree
I don’t understand why they don’t let you wear it either as it’s in the game.
@@LegendaryRockstar457 ikr
@@LegendaryRockstar457 I don’t understand either, it would make sense to add it in the game.
@@TayRich93 glad to hear
I never understood why Aiden was so hated. I liked him way back when the first game came out.
Aiden sounding like freaking Batman in this DLC
He always sounded like that

@@David-nq8cv that’s a fact

Blud is 55 so yeah.
I've finished Watch Dogs Legion: Bloodline yesterday. It was so much better then the base game. Bloodline made me like more Aiden Pearce as character. Also I like how the DLC explore Aiden's past trauma, by entering his mind with Jackson. But I wish they went more deeper with that idea. If Bloodline was longer or it was the main game, then Legion could've been a bit more better. Lastly, I really enjoyed back and fourth between Wrench and Jordi. They got some weird chemistry. But it was fun and funny. It will be cool if We got Watch Dogs Spin-off, starting both of them. Or another game with Alden.
Ayo cheers same here mate, plus that Assassin Creed mission too!🥤
Mm, the story is absolutely better but the gameplay is terrible. Zero reason to profile anyone and half the enemies you face are bullet sponge robots, plus Aidens hacking abilities are still butchered to fit in line with Legions main gameplay, which just doesn’t work in Bloodlines.
The trauma plot was great and I’m glad he finally got that out in a relatively healthy way that didn’t involve murder, they literally inceptioned him though so I’m not sure how much deeper it could get lol
Not a bad DLC but my main motivation was to be able to play Aiden in the main game, where I killed him permanently within 10 minutes of recruiting him. Good times.
@@EverIight Yeah. Legion made a lot of downgrades to the gameplay, especially compared to WD1 and WD2. Another reason why I dont like Legion.
Realy
well the title says watch dogs
they probably thought its better to have many watch dogs
but i agree, aiden pearce should have added the main game than dlc
but at least hes back
All these critics acted like Aiden was the issue with Watchdogs. In reality, everyone was just salty over the downscaled graphics (which still looked great for the time, just not as great as promised).
Truth is, Aiden and the supporting crew in Watchdogs were far more interesting and grounded than the characters in Watchdogs 2, or the non-descript mannequins in Legion.
Watchdogs 2 characters were a bit cringe but that's it, don't act like they were that bad
I liked watch dogs 2 actually I thought their chemistry was great a bit cringe here and there but great but I definitely agree with the hate for Aiden being a bit much people just had their hype so high and when the game didn't hit their crazy standards they found any issue with the game including Aiden
Not all of them were as interesting most of them were actually one note and simple with a few gimmicks just like Watch Dogs 2. That's the issue is that everyone thinks that because they take themselves more seriously they're more fleshed out but no, watch dogs 1 is fucking abysmal 2 improved on the gameplay in every way while genuinely being fun.
@@X-EN7171 Abysmal is a strong word, 1 was not the best but did have a better story, they just told it terribly and messed up a lot of the features as it was new at the time, new generation of consoles and new gameplay elements would do that
Sorry but no.
I loved all the charactors in WD2 because they were still the serious hacker group DedSec on the outside, the game still was about damn serious terms, BUT DedSec in itself are just some hacker nerds that having the time of their lifes while exposing all these big evil cooperations and grow as a group over time.
And I loved this dynamic in the story.
And Legion is WAY more serious and gritty because all the nerdy hacker literly got killed off at the beginning of the game😬😂.
So now we build a new DedSec and can choose wich type of charactors we want in our group.
And I really did enjoy a lot of the charactors/personalities that are available in London.
And really really enjoyed all the themes they touched on.
And this thriller story and beein able to manipulate the lifes of everyone in the city and the new future things u can hack are damn fun.
I find it so funny that Aiden Pearce is loved now. Anyone else remember the rabid hate he got on release of WD1 because he was too “edgy”? Which lead to WD2 being the way it was.
Right? Aiden was so hated as a main character when the first game came out. Shows how perspectives change over time.
Why would people not like him back then? The nonlethal hero is so overdone nowadays that Id think a violent killer like Aiden as a protagonist wouldve been widely loved
I played through Watch Dogs Legion last summer once all the dlc had been released, and I must say the game feels so much better playing as those dlc characters. It really makes it feel more like you have an actual main character (or a small team of main characters). I played through most of the main game using Aiden, and it was refreshing to have dialogue and interactions that were tailored to him and bring up things specific to him like his past. Highly recommend playing through the main game using Aiden, Wrench, and the assassin Darcy
Ooooo. I like this idea!
Whenever I play Watch Dogs Legion, I keep formulating a team where it’s just Aiden, Wrench and Mina Sidhu (customised as well) and boy oh boy that’s much better. Essentially my team is the Triple Threat, where Aiden is focused on the serious aspect, and Wrench is the chaotic one to bring out the hammer, and Mina is the mind controller that's been through rough times.
how do you play as Aiden?
I legit hate the random characters thing i could barelly finish the tutorial out of boredome and "humor"
@@johnynoway9127 you have to own the season pass. When you do, you'll be able to recruit him immediately outside the main base after the first couple of missions.
@@stevenbobbybills mam if only those werent so boring.....
the hypster vibe really annoys me...24/7 of cringe humor...
Honestly ppl didn't know what they had with Watch Dogs 1. Aiden Pierce was probably the coolest character Ubisoft ever made imo.
Calling him too "Edgy" without any further exploration of his character. To me Aiden Pierce is Batman but better!
Just over the edge, but composed enough to come back out.
Fax
Man is legit one of the few gaming characters I can actually get invested in...
I love how through the story his ache for revenge and the guilt eating him up because of thinking he caused his niece's(Lena) death eventually shows the players what all the violence and murder has done to him with him having to send his only raining family away, realizing that he is becoming a monster as shown by the cutscenes with Jackson seeing all his uncle did just further showed something most games don't show, the fact that killing so much and shedding so much blood also has consequences and it really does set it apart from other games.
And Aiden is the most badass game character out there and I will take that to my grave
@@theleastvalid My thoughts EXACTLY!
Oh ok. Just fuck Ezio, I guess....
@@theleastvalid Sounds kinda like Far Cry 3 but not pointing towards the player.

You can bring Aiden to the main game and it is dope. Just make sure permadeath is off. It really sucks to lose him.
Fans: Aiden sucks lol
Fans after Marcus and Generic Legion Protag: Give me Aiden back
I liked Marcus though
The gunplay is one of the big things that I miss from wd1
Aiden looks like he’s apart of the Far Cry 5 cult with that beard 😂😂
Nice
We need another game with Aiden. Give him a team up with Marcus but keep the tone dark. Only reason I bought Legion was to play Bloodlines. He's seriously underrated and my favorite of the series. The way legion sold kinda tells me it will probably be the last one for a while :/
Edit: Give me back the trench coat physics of the first game!!! 😤
Wrench & Jordi missions are definitely another highlight of this DLC.
likewise, Wrench & Aiden's outfits you can buy? *chef's kiss*
Only thing I didn't like about this game was the driving, it sucks a lot and the fixed camera too, I can't believe they made such a bad driving mechanic, like the previous games had pretty decent driving mechanics and they managed to make it worse.
this explains why i'm constantly running into things 😅
Considering that this franchise was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Driver, it is waaaayy worse than Driver SF.
I prefer the driving over the previous 2 games. I cannot drive for my life in them but in legion I can drive around the entire map at full speed without crashing at all
Then you just suck at driving, cause the first one felt nice. It was easy
@@Bazskua How???!!! I constantly crash
Best watch dogs would be Aiden training Marcus in a dark world with Marcus as comic relief.

Watch Dogs Legion: Aiden gets a job in the Amazon package drone delivery service.
I started playing Legion like 3 days ago, gotta say I’m pleasantly surprised how good it is. Sometimes waiting for a while after a game is released is the better option 😂
Liked WD Legion, but it felt a bit empty w/ the recruit everyone aspect. Everyone ended up feeling like a variant of another. What i'd given to have a similar setup w/ how WD2/FC5 did with an actual protagonist/companions if we get another Watch Dogs title..
If you didnt know aiden was 39 during watch dogs 1 and 42 during watch dogs 2 legion is set in 2025 making aiden 55
DAMN! Always loved his character tho! 😭
@@remdowers6765 same especially if you actually listen to his audio logs it explains why aiden is so scary to a lot of people nicky included
Aiden has to be one of my favourite protagonists..man he felt so relatable
I got Bloodlines and all through the side story I was thinking, “Man I can’t wait to recruit Aiden for a new hardcore playthrough!” Which I did, where he did within 10 of recruiting him lol
I just completed this game yesterday, and man was this DLC worth all the time spent!🙌🌟💯
Aiden is honestly in my opinion, an extremely underrated character.
Extremely powerful with his systems crash which helps when the player doesn't have any of the disabling abilities yet.
I managed to pick up the season pass on sale for 20 bucks. Gotta be one of the best deals I've ever seen. Not only do you get the season pass for Legion but you also get all of Watchdogs 1 along with its respective season pass added on too.

another great video man, Aiden just should have been in the base game
yo thanks dude!!
your videos bring me comfort that i cannot describe dude.
Jayvee, have you seen the "digital trips" from watch dogs 1? Those are some psychedelic quests, what a surprise for me.
Love the channel, good fun guaranteed!
super glad you're enjoying!! :)
i just looked up a video and wow i don't think i ever played those!! kinda looks like ghostwire tokyo meets horror missions for wd1? really cool stuff :) i need to boot up the first game again to try it out!
@@jayveeeee Theres a few other ones available too, one where you control a spider-mech destroying a section of chicago with objectives, and one that just goes full psychedelic with bright colors and bouncing along absurdly huge flowers, the one I assume you're talking about is just one of 3.
I'll take established characters over the souless randoms they decided to use for legion any day.
Any moment Aiden isn’t in his regular coat is a moment wasted
This takes place 15 years after the first game, he's around 55 years old.
I remember Iraq in the original watchdogs. Dude was scary
Speaking of changed character models, the one that drove me crazy was Talion in ME: Shadow of War. In Shadow of Mordor he was a good looking guy but in the second game a Neanderthal got slipped in there somehow.
Hahahaha the drone comment gave me a good laugh.
I literally bought the game with aiden just to not play the actual singleplayer at all
The single player felt boring in my option. Everyone is talking about how good the game is WITH the DLC, but tbh without the DLC, the game felt boring.
from a side view those robuts looked like they were operating with TRS80's for heads haha. Those had like 4kb of RAM in some models which would explain the inability to spot you when 10 feet away
Really had a great time with this game, the bloodline dlc was actually better than the main story.
Took you good while to acknowledge this. This made watch dogs legion for me. Still kinda like the first one more tho
“Ubi doesn’t know how to make intimidating villains” wait till (spoilers) you hear that guy in the last fight of the DLC sounding like the principle from A Goofy Movie. Also bad villain aside, I really enjoyed the DLC and a good amount of the main game. Having Aiden, Wrench, a grown up Jackson, and a few Marcus and Jordi cameos in a short DLC was a good way to sell me on this game. I also got the assassin operative and a few others I really enjoyed playing as in the main game, and I actually became invested in their role in the story. Aside from side missions and recruitment missions’ generic lines and animations it feels good to play as your favorite few characters.
You know, I thought so too at first playthrough, but later realized that the gimmick of the game is the Pokémon style collecting of agents, finding new ones when they die, using a wide variety of powers/approaches to finish missions, etc. And having great individual characters kind of cuts all that out.
I UNDERSTOOD THAT REFERENCE LOL 3:52. Love me some Mass Effect
I know and that's why I said it needed to be a sequel to aiden to finish his story tbh
I understand what they were trying to do, and I welcome and encourage experimentation. But experiences like this are so much better with an actual characters with real stories, not randomly generated avatars.
I loved the video! Your WD content is great! You should try Yakuza 0 sometime, its an amazing game!
They could have made Aiden the main character adding this another option of playing as many people from public in the game itself! That would have been great
My only complaint is that Aidan runs slower than his animation
12:20 If they do make another game I want them to go back to the roots of what made WD 1 work so well.
Aiden is what made us love Watch Dogs to begin with.
when i got the season pass i’ve mostly used only the season pass operatives 😂
I can't have been more agreed! Wrench si another great character for the camping.

Aiden lost a step with his old age.... 😔
Great video! I want to jump into this game but I watched and played a little of it, and I don't know if I liked it. I liked WD 1 and 2, tho I prefered 1's story, so I hope the DLC is good. Cheers! 😄
thanks for watching dude! that's fair :) definitely not for everyone
@@jayveeeee I really want to give it a go tho, I think that the play as anyone can be a good mechanic if done good; and some people involved in this game was developed games that I really liked, as FC2. PS: Thx for the heart. 🙂

Always feel like all 3 games were 75 percent complete all good games but man just wish they had some more time to add a bit more wish publishers would let devs say the games are finally complete all the bugs have been squashed the game is fully polished as we are satisfied with man I one day would like to know if any dev out there was able to finish they’re dream game at the certain period
Since Aiden is in every game if they ever make a watchdogs 4 they should put him as the main playable character next again
That was a good Segway ngl

The gunslinger ability reminds me of the destiny 2 gunslinger ability. They probably took it from that tbh

Bro this was beter than the main story
Yo, I actually really liked legion the gameplay is really fun the way you can go about missions and what not. The best way to play is on resistance mode. It's really cool and a lot harder. Just way more immersive in general.
12:16
Out of context is just something else
Small detail that i dislike in Legion is "the epic coat physics was gone"
They used a lot more mocap in Legion for Aiden with the same dude who voices him (Noam Jenkins) so checks out that he looks different (apart from the obvious beard) due to that , IMO he def looks closer to Noam. Wrench's actor (Shawn Baichoo) also did some mocap work, I noticed with his model as well that he was tweaked a lil from WD2 with more similarities to said actor. ( There's a Behind-The-Scenes video floating around on youtube somewhere for Bloodlines where they show mocap work in a couple clips).
They should have made him the protagonist, it would have been such a good game if the dlc was actually the main game

I unironically forgot this game existed and I played the first 2 games so much
At 7:38 when Aiden said "materiel recovery" ma-tear-e-el is the correct way to say it. Materiel and material are two different words.
I think Watch Dog with Aiden is just better all around. Domestic part is I can't knock the second and third game and be objective they were very well made I just prefer this character over everybody else which isn't fair but it's how I feel
Loved this dlc but still think for the 3rd game they should’ve just done a deep dive into a dedsec cell somewhere else in the world while keeping some of the vibe from the second game. Like instead of playing as anyone in the city just a roster of like 5 or 10 or whatever.
No, dedesec in the second game made dedsec seem like a joke. Dedesec in part 1 seemed more dangerous and serious. Bring Dedesec from 1 back. And if not, just get rid of dedsec all together. There’s no reason t keep using the name without really delving into what dedsec originally is meant and supposed to be. Horatio just took the name and did whatever he wanted with it.
@@BabyGirlTiny man who tf is Wally
I hated how the camera kept centering while driving in Legion, it made my blood boil, and the worst part is you can't even turn that shit off!
The word "materiel" is a word I think meaning "military equipment" or something along those lines. Like the Barrett anti materiel rifle. It's built to take out military equipment.

This is an example of a good DLC, Villain that’s bad but good, adds new gameplay elements, redo’s old mechanics into DLC, bringing back fan favourites and an actually decent price

Watch Dogs Legion was one of my most disappointing games of the last few years. The series has so much potential, I really hope they learn from their past 3 games and make a Watchdogs 4 that avoids the varying and different issues each one had.
I would love Ubisoft to make watch dogs one remake or watch dogs game with Aiden Pearce as the main character again
I did the entire game as Wrench.

I enjoyed Watch Dogs 2 so much and was disappointed that they didn’t go back to Aiden as the main character or make another compelling main character. Ubisoft misses so much more than they hit.
