2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma Cabin Air Filter Replacement -EricTheCarGuy
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 гру 2015
- This video covers the cabin air filter replacement on 2nd generation Toyota Tacoma's (2005-2015). Some parts of the procedure will vary with newer models, but the basics are the same. Parts of this procedure may also apply to some first generation Tacoma's as well.
It's a simple process and doesn't require a lot of tools. It can also save you a great deal of money replacing this maintenance item yourself. Not to mention it will help keep the air inside your vehicle free from contaminants.
The average replacement interval is every 15K, sometimes as low as 10K based on the air quality where the vehicle is being used.

I just watched a 10 minute clip on how to do this. Your 2 minute explanation told me everything I needed to know. Thanks for the brevity!
Eric, can't thank you enough for making a concise video on how to change the cabin air filter. Other DIY guys could learn a lot from you...namely, less is more!
Thank you Eric.. 8 years later. So simple. I really appreciate this, in this day we gotta save what we can
Short and to the point, thanks!
Great video. I came here to confirm the air flow direction and you, sir, provided it. Thanks!
I appreciate guys like you who make such helpful DIY videoclips! Keep up the good work!
Good luck to you Eric.
May the air (and everything else that comes to you) is clean.
The last time I went and got my oil change the mechanic came out with an extremely dirty looking interior air filter and he was like “Dude I don’t normally do this but I noticed your interior filter definitely needs to be changed…now look it’s up to you but for just $35.00 I can replace it now”…so I said yes go ahead and replace it.
3 Months later and yesterday I was working on my new Audio equipment for my ‘05 Tacoma and at one point I had to take the glove box off to move some wires behind it and I noticed an empty box where an air filter was supposed to go in…with no air filter in it.
I’m definitely glad I saw this video I just need to find out what brand air filter (probably the same one shown in this video I’ll watch it again m sure it had a name brand on it and simply do it myself”
However…this morning I am going over to that “take 5 Oil Change” place and demanding my $35.00 plus tax back!😡
Also from here on out I’ll be replacing my oil myself. I do not trust any of these places anymore.
Thank you man! Simple and easy while detailed. Great video!
Took about 2 minutes to install it in my 2015 Taco! Thanks
How fun it is to have 50 cabin filters video in your sub list...
+Dskblade SO fun!
Just bought a 07 Taco, did this in 15 min. Thanks.
thanks for the video, our dealer charges $70 for this and after watching this I figured I could do it myself. Not only that, but I replaced it today and the dealer had put it in the wrong way from last time I paid for it! it wasn't upside down at least but it was the wrong direction according to the arrows in the manual and on the filter. Probably not a big deal but when you pay $70 you think they would put it in correctly. The OEM ones have an arrow pointing up and an arrow pointing what direction to put it in.
Anyone doing this now on an older vehicle, be careful not to disconnect the top of the damper. I accidentally did that on my 09 Tacoma and it took me a long time to put it back on and the plastic tab on the top of the damper is pretty fragile. Just push in the tabs carefully at the bottom and don't use any force.
Straight to the point! Thank you sir!
Thank you much sir for the how to video. I’m about to replace mine and you helped me greatly. Well done . 👍
Great video as usual. Thank you for the info.
Спасибо Эрик! Всегда интересно смотреть твои видео. Ты у нас в Казахстане популярная персона. Ребята из России подсказали твой канал.
Why in the heck do they charge $60? I hope you know how much I appreciate your video!
They dont call them stealerships for nothing
They wanted 75 dollars. Inflation I guess
Shops usually charge a minimum charge.
As one shop I know states one hour minimum labor rate..
Currently that's $175 ph..
On top of the filter which is marked up..
around $30..
.......
I noticed a Toyota Dealership is Charging $10.78 for its filter if bought on line and can be picked up..
Or double the cost,
if its bought in person..
cause you're stupid
Eric thank you. You are the man
Thank you. This vid was very helpful 👍🏼
Excellent , to the point. Perfect!
This works on Toyota FJ Crusiers aswell. I have a 2013 FJ.
Thank you for the instructions 🙏
Very helpful. Thank you.
Toyota repair shop was going to charge me $57 for replacing the filter. LOL. thanks very much for the video!
Thanks easier than easy.
Very well done!
Well done!!
Thank you so much, saved me money on my Tucoma! Mouse had died in it!
that freaking save me 40 dollar at the dealer.. thanks a bunch
I just got a 2007 Tacoma and the cabin filter was the original factory one. Problem is the truck nearly has 200k miles. 🤢
Merci Beaucoup!
Thanks Eric! Great vid! Nice lighting and detail.
My concern, the dampener popped off and it doesnt fit when reinstalling it..
I was hoping for a close up shot for it..
Still the best video on YT..
@ericthecarguy I'm always looking for info about a p0500 code on a 2005 trd tacoma. Are you familiar with this code?
Point of interest: some types of '05 Tacoma don't have a cabin air filter at all. I'm not sure if it's only vehicles from very early in the production run or if it's specific to some versions, but my single cab PreRunner lacks one.
+DMStraylight I have read It’s some of the early years like ’05 and i think some ’06 that don’t and it's across all trims. My ’07 has one and i need to replace it soon.
My '05 X-Runner has the tray and lid for it but didn't have one installed. :-x
My 2007 Tacoma is an access cab (the one with half rear doors) and it has an air filter. I believe the Tacoma redesign was in 2005 so not sure if the older designs had cabin filters.
Jesus Christ!! That was crazy easy!
yes i agree the arrow should be facing down going to the air flow from top going down to the blower but other vloggers telling the arrow facing up confusing viewers
Eric- I have seen over a dozen videos...we have a 2005 Tundra SR5 -4 Dr. the houseing does not look the same...#1. the glove compartment is center, not on the left side as most videos...#2, once we bring down the glove compartment, there is no little openings, ...NOTHING like what you show??? All the videos show the same compartments you show, but our truck doesn't have any of that...Could this air cabin filter be elsewhere??? Our Car is one owner, never changed...please help
Someone at some point decided the damper on my truck wasn't necessary because mine was missing, lol. Oh well, saved me two steps.
The arrow point up not down
It's pretty much the same with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra but my 2018 Mercedes had to get all complicated and switch things up 😔
Hey Eric, I am not complaining but what's the story behind all the cabin air filter videos?
+Ian Porter I talk about it in my newsletters. www.ericthecarguy.com/blog
Of course not all filters indicate the direction of air flow. Some simply indicate which side goes up.
where the late 90's mustangs at eric?
Only 2005+ Mustang will have a cabin filter.
Shouldn't have to watch adds to get to your content car guy.
Hi eric i m from germany .. I hav a VW Holf 2004-05 its really disappointing for me that u never make vdos for autos like golf

Hey can anyone help me? My damper disconnected :(
yeah and I'm having a hard time uploading the picture
I put a cable tie around the end of the top pin to keep the damper from disconnecting. I had a hard time reconnecting the damper to both top and bottom pins without it disconnecting from the top one while I was trying to connect the damper to the bottom one.
Thanx. Get tired of dealer pushing for every little thing. Also, said filter was 'packed'; not true.
That "anti-bacterial" filter looks pretty grungy...
I HATE that damper.
Before reconnecting the damper, pivot the glove box up, squeeze, up more, release so that it rests above the "stops". NOW pull the damper and connect. That makes it pretty easy.
you did it wrong, rotate 90 degrees and reinsert
who else came here after they gave up on the hot lead computer guy
It's crazy and just wrong that dealers charge $50 + for replacement of this filter.
+Matt B That's why he makes these useful videos, so people can do this by themselves. Asking 50$ to replace the cabin air filter is like stealing..
+John Capidecallu it is a business though. What's a filter worth?
The cabin air filter for my car costs 10€ (i'm from Italy) that are 11$ with the current change. 39$ for doing a less than 5 minutes job is too much, imho.
+Matt B On a lot of cars its much more complicated than this...
First
Thatll be $65 please. Lol.
