Mike, God bless u for making this video. I am 64 yr. Old woman with little money to spare. I got into my 2015 toy/tacoma and turned my air on and all i could smell was strong urine. I cried. I search on u tube and watched your video. I knew I had to do it myself. Of course it took me a very lot longer to do but i did. I also wiped the motor off with strong lavender to clean it. I prayed after i put it back together. I gave thanks and asked that it does not smell bad when i crank it up. The good Lord answered my prayers. Thank you so very much for making your video or i could not have done it. You not only saved me money but also worry. May God bless you young man. Thanks again.
Happy to help!
Best vid I've seen for this . I appreciate the clear photography, instructions and lack of distracting noise.
I guess the reason these filters cost so much is so few folks know about or think of changing them?
i don’t think that’s how supply and demand works 😂
Thanks for the video. I watched a couple of videos showing how to access the cabin filter and yours was the best. I was also happy to see that you also show how to removed and clean the squirrel cage blower.
I cleaned mine today, leaf stem on the blower motor was making it squeal, relieved it wasn't a bad motor. Good vid.
Really complete and clear info with lots of details. Thanks for not assuming that I knew ANYTHING about how to remove or replace the glove box like other videos. Now I can get the wood rat nest out that was built while I was down with a damaged foot and not driving. THANKS.
Just changed mine a '12, had dried leaves in it, but no rats nest thank God 👍🏽👌🏽
Great video clear and complete. Thanks
Thanks Mike! I did one of these videos too (2010 Tundra owner) but I added your link to my video because yours goes a step farther and removes the fan.
Thank you. Camera angles were problematic, but your narration is casual & relaxed. Thanks for sharing, bruv!
Nicely and concisely demonstrated. Thank you!
Thankyou! I cant believe it cost over $200 for such a simple job but I guess if people arent willing to do it themselves they must be willing to pay it..
Thanks! I appreciate your video, good job. I've had the same problem last year and took it to the dealership. This year, I'll do it myself.
this saved me a trip! I like to fix things myself on my car when I can, especially when it's this easy😁 thank you!
Thanks for the vid...was misinformed all this time...gonna change that sucker out today!👍
Yea- this is soooo helpful. Same with your video for the air cleaner.
Excellent vid...thanks for the info.
Thanks you saved me $200 and my health!!!!
Thanks for the info great video.
Thanks for the how-to. Just did this on my 2009 Taco, mine was worse than yours :) The entire cubby was FULL including the blower area. Its great how well the air flows now :) thank you! Looks like a small spring came loose and its to the handle mechanism on the glove box.. will have to see how to put this back on though.
Very helpful thanks a lot!
good video! being cheap and frugal washed old filter with awesome..dried with hairdryer ....as good as new
Good video. Beat the dealer baby.
Good job bro
Of course I find this video AFTER i already replaced my cabin air filter... The old owner had let it sit so long that a packrat had chewed its way in from under the wheel well and had access to the cabin filter housing as well as the engine filter and had built nests behind both filters. I only found it because the smell when I used the ac or heater was horrible.. not to mention i found the frustration of the 5.5 mm socket to be ridiculous honestly didnt even know i had one until today lols
Thx!
There is only slight variations on all 3 Toyota's we have. I saved over 100 dollars by changing the cabin and engine air filters on moms Camry. Around 20 minutes time is what it took.
hola buenas noches y para la tundra 2001 no lo encuentro
That’s insane how much they wanted to charge for that 🤣
Thanks, beats 39.00 installed by a Tech.
i have a 05 and what i wana know is where does that cabin filter pull air from? Because wherever that intake is, lets mice make a nest on my canin air filter. I need to find that intake and put a mesh screen over it...Getting tired of cleanout mouse nest out of my truck....I miss old trucks...NO stupid cabin air filters...
I just did mine and the problem with red squirrels were ditto.I vacuumed everything OK.
My Toyota is 11 years old and the top pin on the damper assembly needed to bet a bit of engineering with a wood plug and electricians tape to get it to work.
Your solution will vary, but engineer you must.
These things are designed to break!
Lots of good footage but would be helpful if you showed total visual of clipping suspension piece in place.
That looked like some furnace air filters I've seen. If you don't have good filters, you become the filter.
I have same problem thanks
Super easy. Save yourself some money!
That rodents nest isn't unusual especially for those who live in the country. Mine had a rodents nest also but I was not charged for removal. The dealer was doing a free inspection and found the problem when they checked the cabin air filter. That cabin air filter is about 7 dollars on EBAY. Both the engine air filter and cabin filter costs about 20 dollars on EBAY. Both are very easy to install yourself. Never leave the filter out since pine needles and the like can fall into your air fan and jam it up. Burning the thing out.
Haha I’ve also gotten a rodent nesting in my 2012 Tacoma
Great vid...but the problem is not solved....To correct & eliminate the rodent/nest problem you must remove the plastic cowl screen below the windshield and you will see the 'box' that the rodents get into. I covered mine with screen after cleaning out the nests & disinfecting with Lysol. Then I got inside the truck & changed the cabin filter......
holy crap now i am curious how mine looks like. I haven't changed mine and I am 130k miles,
Animal feces can get on top of that filter. That means people in the cabin will be breathing bacteria and viruses from that manure.
Damn, I wonder how mine looks like I never changed it in 5 years, now i'm afraid if i change it something will crawl out the filter and eat me lol
This must be a problem with tacomas. Same thing happened to me.
mines got 240,000, hopefully i'm not the first to change it..
Just in case anyone came here for an 04 Tacoma, there is no cabin air filter there is only the filter by the engine. Hope that saves someone time.
Cabin air filter
I replace mine once a year, the filter only costs a few dollars.
Just change mine looked like a rats nest😷
@ C notes!??!
2 C Notes!??!
Bro WTF! It’s a jungle in there!
Cabin air filter should be replaced every 12-15k.
should replace it about every 30,000 miles...……………..
I replaced my filter in 3 minutes and cost 20$
Looks like a hamster nest
Get a cat.
Lol good one man!
Cats can access a cabin air filter? I thought the cabin air filter was a good place to hide from a cat...🤔
