Smoking in rooms requires washing down EVERYTHING, ceilings even. Pets require shampooing of carpets, drapes, ect.. then airing of the room for a week min.

Sadly, my wife can get asthma attacks if smoke particulates from a colleuge happens to get into my hood clothes (even vape will trigger if active around her). So she can tell if someone smokes. Asthma attacks can and do kill, and smoking in a room could kill the next occupant if they are that affected by asthma. It causes my wife's throat to completely close up and makes even getting her inhaler working. I appreciate those who make the rooms clean. It's sad watching her get affected like that. It's scary to watch a person gag, choke and struggle to breath because an Ass hole ignored rules, or the worse I've seen, smoke right next to hospital/ER entrances. Nothing pisses me off (and have repeatedly yelled at jackasses) when someone makes an essential and emergency health center, so toxic to enter it can kill you. That's when my gloves come off and I will scream at someone for that crap.

@@nerdswithcamerasinc.490as a smoker myself, thank you. It's a vice, I'm perfectly aware of that. That's why I make my best effort to not bother people with it and it's frustrating to keep doing it with the world full of A-holes running rampant. But it's encouraging to know that there are people being active about keeping our society clean and safe. Best of luck for you and the wife.

A lot of homeless people show up in the ER. They know exactly what to say, so we will have to hold them. Even if we know they're not exactly telling the truth, we can't turn them away because nobody wants a lawsuit. Well, after they're accepted, they immediately ask for juice, a turkey sandwich, and a pudding. Like I said, they know exactly what to say.

@@user-rr7sr9ne8sthe taxonomic phylum arthropoda includes insects & arachnids. It’s complicated but imagine a family tree. Your siblings are siblings. Cousins are cousins on another branch of the tree. Go up a couple of generations, move across & you have effectively you’re an insect, your 2nd cousin is a spider, but you’re all “Smith”, aka arthropods. Hope that helps

Back in high school, I had a really toxic best friend. Well, one morning she came up to me on the verge of tears, saying one of her teachers went on a long rant against our religion and i. Was. PISSED. I was like "wtf that's not okay, let's go tell our guidance counselor!" And all of the sudden my friend gets nervous and tells me that we don't have to tell anyone and to just let it go, but I was like "no way, we can't let that teacher get away with this!" And I turned and started heading to the schools front office but I quickly noticed that my friend wasn't following. I asked what was up and she awkwardly told me that she'll handle it and not to worry. I shrugged it off and soon forgot about it. About a decade later I randomly thought about this and had the sneaking suspicion that she made the whole thing up.

I'm a housekeeper at a hotel. Smoking marijuana or regular cigarettes can leave a strong odor. Cigarette smoke rooms often have a film of dust or like residue, from the smoke or the ashes. And pets leave hair, allergens, their own bodily odors (that their owners might be used to but future guests aren't), and sometimes urine and or feces. Either way, at my hotel, smoking is banned inside the hotel rooms, and you have to pay an extra fine for a pet. Both rooms need to be deep cleaned, and sometimes our housemen can use a ozone machine for extra odor elimination.
And the guests will be fined extra for either one.

Rolling at the retail sales manager complaining about his minimum wage part-time employees not being invested enough to show up 10 minutes early every day.
Respect is a two-way street, and you get what you pay for. Retail managers will pay the legal minimum, offer no benefits or even sick days, expect their employees to be on-call on all of their days off, and leave them so understaffed that a single call-off causes the whole store to fall apart and then they wonder why they aren't falling to their knees thanking them for the opportunity to be promoted to Walmart shift lead

It's already been mentioned, but I feel a bit more nuance is required: non-smokers who have allergies or breathing issues won't feel the need to disclose those for a simple room reservation. The _last_ thing that a hotel wants to do is call 911 because someone got sick in one of our rooms over something the hotel could've EASILY prevented had they'd known about it.
Smoking in a non-smoking room requires a lot of cleaning to minimize the smell for the next few occupants. It can be really difficult to get the smell fully out of a mattress, so sometimes a room might need to be cleaned multiple times just because one jerk decided to light up in a non-smoking room instead of just renting a smoking room. And that's assuming they didn't burn anything with the ashes.
When it comes to the pet clean up fee, it depends on the type of pet, but some pets are more odorous than others. Cats that are musking (i.e. peeing on the walls, etc.) can sometimes require even deeper cleaning. At the last hotel I worked, we had one lady who claimed she only had 2 cats, but she actually had 4 and ALL of them were musking heavily, and she refused to let our cleaning crew in for the week she was staying there ( _probably because they would've found out she had 4 cats instead of 2 and we would've either charged her more or kicked her out earlier_ ). We ended up having to rip out the drywall, the carpeting, replace the mattresses, and more. We charged her for ALL of that on TOP of that the cleaning fee because the smell was so rancid, we couldn't sell the room or the one directly next to it until we'd demolished most of her room.
This is why any hotel that allows smoking and/or pets usually have rooms designated for them on a specified floor or a designated section where it's less likely to annoy those who can't handle the smell and so they don't spend as much on cleaning as thoroughly to get the smell out.

I have been working in pest control for 5 1/2 years now. We can always tell when a customer is lying saying their house is “infested“ with spiders, ants, mice, etc.
These pests, leave evidence of them being in your home, especially the mice in the form of droppings. A lot of people simply call us back for free service to get their moneys worth“.
Once a customer abuses the free follow-ups too much, we start charging them for the extra callouts. Funny enough, once we start charging them, they stop calling us every week.

I was a prosecutor years ago. Bad people may not understand how to be good. As a result, they lie and fool themselves despite the hard evidence, such as documents. Most people do not understand and value education. 2000 years of human history in college alone. I've had more than seven years of that understanding and education in the core concepts of what it means to govern humanity. "Lie to me!" Now, I almost find it funny. I love to draw it out. I don't lie normally, so I realize if I don't understand what is going on, my eyes are on the liar clearly before me. Plus, I've had a very well-balanced life. Liars are not limited by concepts like wealth or skin color, please. Children All.
Lying to an educated person is supposed to be hard by design!
So people don't want to be predictable. I've learned that even that too is predictable. Now, I make sure our government does not waste millions. I love my job; I get to call out liars for the benefit of American taxpayers!

Smoking fees and animal fees are usually the same price for 2 reasons:
    1. It's simpler to just have a blanket fee for anything. Means the system only needs one input
    2. Both require the room to be inoperable for an extended period of time

Working in a highly automated section of a sugar refinery i would always tell the other operators, especially new ones, never lie. We can see every chnage in every system all the time. Those may look like messy line graphs at the start but with experience an operator can see to the minute where things went wrong, and how long it took the operator to notice. Its very obvious when tanks "mysteriously" fill up or empty unexpectedly, but liquid in the quantities we deal simply have to be somewhere. Hopefully its where we want it. 😊

The crayfish one, you'd hate to go to the seafood markets in Australia, we have a crayfish whose name is literally Moreton Bay Bug.
The retail store one. This is 50/50. If you plan to arrive 10mins early is really good idea. But not start 10mins early. You aren't paying for them 10mins early. But yeah rocking into work literally as you start is terrible and not a good image and could cost you with a reference or such.
The pet store worker, as someone who has kept fish for a long time, and stupidly listened to pet store workers at one point, one thing ive learned is very few people in pet stores know what they really sell or deal with. Sure some people think an Oscar lives in 10g and needs to be corrected, but I recently heard a pet store worker also tell someone a fish will grow to it's tank size. Heard one say swordtails originated from south east asia etc other completely incorrect identification and distribution of fish.
Another I hear so often is thinking different fish eat only a specific food, most often this is in regards to algae eating cat fish. Most people still think they only eat vegetable matter and algae but in reality they eat alot of small organisms living in and on the algae like copepods and do need some protein foods (which is why if you look at algae wafer foods it often contains a decent amount of fish or shrimp meal).
The worst ive seen is the misinformation and plain incorrect information when it comes to tank maintenance and cleaning or water changes. So often a pet store says to drip acclimatise a fish that's been in a sealed bag for over an hour to not shock the water chemistry. The second you open that sealed bag gives water chemistry shock as the ammonia and toxins building the last hour get activated by fresh air. Temperature acclimatise while sealed yes, but the water they are in in that bag is vastly different to the water they were in at the store. But better yet, take a bucket or container in when buying fish to transport and then you can acclimatise slowly and safely.
