Nurse bullying has existed since the early years of nursing. Bullying is just a symptom of a narcissistic personality disorder and the narcissist is more likely to lack the critical thinking skills required in nursing and they cannot be trusted with patient care or record keeping. As a retired supervisor, it’s been my experience the narcissist nurse creates the most friction in the workplace and require closer supervision than the average worker. Too many people tend to confuse arrogance with intelligence.
Yup, this is in every job doesnt matter the profession. Heck the most drama filled job I had was at Taco Bell. I would argue that female dominated fields are the most toxic though.
They are worse to the housekeepers there. Im a housekeeper for a hospital, and the nurses treat us like 💩. I've learned to ignore the mean ones, remember their names, and report them when necessary. Unfortunately, no matter how many times our boss has a meeting with them to tell them to be kind, they never learn. And they have the audacity to complain about why the hospital can't keep housekeepers when they keep quitting because of the bullying.
I've always been told that I'm too kind and polite. I have never seen it as a problem until I started working in a hospital. Nurses are freaking rude. No matter how sweet and nice you are to them. Now I'm working on not being too nice and not smile too much at others.
Finally girls are saying it loud. It doesn't matter how many times you say "sorry" or "thank you", if they have decided you are the devil, they will continue to bully.
Its hard to stop it when nurses play like they dont know what abuse of power, incivility, or bullying is. Nurses can't keep denying this huge problem in nursing.
Happened to me last night. Mind you, you and I look very similar even down to the personality and presence, except I’m older lol. Just those characteristics alone throw A LOT of people off. I’m as sweet as I can be until I’m not. I’ve had to start paper trails (emails) in order to demand the respect everyone is due. Last night they played themselves short. They just don’t know, they’ll hurt themselves trying to hurt me. We are out here and we will not be mishandled. We are all supposed to be here for the same purpose.
Thank you so much for sharing you're experience. It is so disappointing that we even have to go through this! And I totally agree with you! I hope it get better for both of us and anyone else like us! It needs to stop!
I just can't wrap my head around this long-time issue! It will get better ladies with people like you, and your sympathy more will follow, I myself been wanting to be a nurse…Changes will come for the well-being of yourself and those who you care for! Keep it up! Thank you ladies for what you do:)
Bullying in general is just a huge projection of that toxic person and their personal issues. I’m still learning to stick up for myself. I am pleasant, professional and kind as possible. Work should be a place of team work not a take down place!
male nurse here for apprise 20 years; I'm good at what I do and enjoy my patients however, by far the biggest challenge has been the rudeness and bullying of nurses themselves.
I have experienced bullying as a nurse. I don't think I have a strong personality like you but I have tried to speak up for my self and I even reported the bullying but nothing ever happened. The thing is alot of times management tend to favor the bullies. There were other nurses who seen the bullying but chose to look the other way. Nurses need to support each other and respect each other. We need to stick up for one another. Alot of times that does not happen. Sometimes the only option is to leave. We should not sacrifice our mental health. Great video. I agree with you 100%. We need to end nurse bullying.
4:55 girl you gave me a flashback to my labor and delivery rotation and this nurse straight up walked away from me and said, go be with that girl over there! Didn’t tell me who or what she looked like. Some nurses are pathetic smh.
I watched your videos 2 years ago when I was beginning as a RBT and now I'm on my way out of that job and onto beginning my nursing journey. Thank you for your videos!
Mrs Sophia is obviously the best after studying her questions and answers just for 3 days the materials she provided was exactly what came out on my test day.
I love that earned part. Turn off music while listening to them but never contribute a word. This has helped me alot at my place of work as an RBT. Thanks for sharing
I work for the airlines and have seen the cattiness, and the bullying my whole career here. Ive done this for hmph....19yrs now. Its discouraging, and emotionally distressing. Ive thought about walking away from this crap ive endured for 19yrs and not give two craps about it! And still feel this way. Its sad this is all over corporate america. Mine as well just look to work remote!
I am curious why the hospitals themselves do not address this. Yes, people can report others but they need to improve moral between workers and between RN's and the other depts they interact with. For the reasons you had I did not go into nursing because the last thing I wanted was to be stuck on a unit and bullied. So I went into respiratory therapy but guess what? They bully and gossip as well!!! Also some RNs treat the RTs horribly and I am sure it is vice versa. For me I found the younger preceptors the hardest to work with, the older ones were very chill and easy going. The young ones are the ones that gossiped and talked behind other RTs backs. Our instructors did warn us to not gossip or engage in any conversations because these same people will write reviews on us. As a student you can't speak up because usually the hospital will back up the employee not the student and then the student can be kicked out of the hospital. I was told it is best to just nod and kept your mouth shut because no matter what you say they might perceive that you are getting smart with them and they have the power to complain about you. Needless to say after my experience in the hospitals I am looking to get into sleep studies so I can work independently. I do like the idea of wearing ear pods with no sound that way no one will tend to pull you into any rumors that you knew or were part of a gossip situation.
I’m a teacher and I am thinking about becoming a nurse 👩🏾⚕️ but the process of getting into nursing school it’s a bit much and pressure I am taking my intro to anatomy and physiology for the third time yep. I enjoy working with kids. I have been thinking about being a school nurse or pediatric. If not then I may find something else to do.
My sweet nurse I just found your channel! I love your content and the way you present yourself. I love your humor as well and this is one my favorite videos. 😂. Keep up the great work! Also, may I just add, in my mind when other coworkers are being rude in my mind im just like “And, don’t check me, B****, check the air quality.” 😅
It cannot be stopped and As I'm thinking about bullying that's AI nurse is a must in the future health care for sure AI nurse will never get tired of schooling those new nurses who are just starting with their careers
The only thing that changes the situation and helps is the boss/head nurse that will protect you. There is nothing else that can help. It doesn't mean someone has to make an argument for you - it's about not letting this situations to happen and recognize the bullied one.
Here's a black nurse telling other nurses how to avoid workplace drama! This is different from anything I have seen in real life. These nurses in Michigan are requiring drama just to work- which sounds ridiculous!
Thank you for this video. I needed to hear this. I’ve been bullied the last 6 months by coworkers because being pregnant there are certain procedures I cannot perform (the chemicals involved). It has truly left me at my breaking point.
I’ve just started my very first semester in my grad entry nursing program. I’m bracing myself in encountering these situations when I start my clinicals in the spring. Do you have any tips on how not to react so strongly? I can get super angry when mistreated (years of trauma lol) and my outbursts aren’t so…sweet. I don’t want to put my integrity on the line but I also don’t want to react like I’m going to fight someone. Any tips and advice is greatly appreciated ❤️

Nursing is brutal competitive and down right at times shameful. Or maybe go into ultrasounds but I deff couldn't be a R.N again..sad but true I was in a bike wreck and almost lost my left leg and also a 2 ND wreck almost immediately after I was recovered from the bike. Wreck and my back was broke in six places ..I was in a med can when.,it happens and that was the end of a 22 yr career . Again I do miss it ..but I would not be able to do that job now .my advice to new nurses don't work extra if you don't have to. And put away money so that if you get burnout you can take a break and then go back to nursing either way just treat yourself well as a nurse !
