In 1995 I got a gameboy as young boy. I own the Steam Deck for more than a year now and to this day it still feels sometimes like being 6 yrs old unwrapping my game boy. It might sound silly but it's true. Before the steam deck I had a hard time motivating myself and find joy in play video games, it's a different story now. The other day I installed Kingdom Come which was left untouched in my library for years and it's some of the best fun I ever had.
Man me as well. I am 57. Ever since the original XBox with Battlefield modern combat that I had like 3000 hours in online I have just been (Whatever) On games. I play my deck all the time and own an Xbox X and PS5. Have you checked out High On Life? If you ever got into strangers Wrath the weapons are living like that, very cool game. The new DLC is ok but not great except the pinball gun that is cool as hell.
The emulation is a whole different story, it’s incredible. I find the roguelite genre to be so addicting to pick up and play on the deck. Other than that. Tales of arise and persona 5 made my travels so much easier
I think my favorite experience on the deck has been Telltales The Walking Dead Definitive Edition. It's such an excellent story, it plays flawlessly on the deck and each chapter is the perfect length. For a few weeks I would look forward to coming home from work and playing through the next chapter to find what would happen next, which is a great length at about an hour - an hour and a half each. The game all said and done is around 50 hours of excellence and it can be had for just a few dollars these days. It's a must.
Hardspace: Shipbreaker is probably my favourite on Deck. Teardown is also pretty great, especially since it has native Steam Input support so the controls are much more easily customized. Loop Hero is good for long term max battery life lazy gaming, like for when I'm watching Critical Role or something. Caveblazers and Noita for pixel art sidescrolling roguelike actioners (though Noita's framerate can get iffy when things get really hairy). The original Thief and Thief 2 are surprisingly great on the Deck. They run perfectly even with the TDP and GPU turned all the way down (when playing at the Deck's native resolution. You'll have to bump the GPU up a bit to get 60fps at 4k if running to an external display), so you can get great battery life, and they actually read the thumbstick as an analog joystick so you get precise analog walking speed control, which they don't do with the Steam Controller.
Fallout New Vegas is my favorite on the steam deck. I bought on PC a while back and couldnt play due to the constant crashing but on the steamdeck it runs fine and It only crashed a few times in a span of 30 hours.
My steam deck is on the way. I’m getting very excited to play some rts game’s! especially since you can use the steam workshop to customize your maps to your liking 😎 👍
Binding of Isaac is definitely one of my best SD games. Also, I've finally picked up and completed Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 because of the SD. Playing mostly games like Vampire Survivor as they're easy to lay down and pick up (Halls of Torment and Scarlet Tower atm.).
Hades you can get on switch and most of these games you can get on switch so I don’t see a reason to pay double the money for basically the same console
@@csedits12 Exactly. I already own those games on Steam and I know that no matter what new PC hardware I get, my library will always follow me unlike on consoles. So there's no reason for me to buy the games again on a console. Then there's also the fact that Steam cloud saves are free so I can always play on my desktop, laptop, or Steam Deck and continue where I left off. Not having to pay for online functionality is fantastic.
Halo MCC is one of my favorites and it runs so good in the steam deck. I also love playing red dead redemption 2 even though it doesn't look the best but it totally playable
One of the reasons the steam deck is better than the PS2 is that you can play PS2 games on the deck via emulation! That's been what I've been using my deck for mostly since I've gotten it. Just about to finish up the Jak and Daxter trilogy.
The biggest surprise to me was just how well modern era singleplayer fps like Wolfenstein the new order or Doom eternal run on the steam deck. Absolute bangers and they run smooth as ever.
